KENDALL ryan.
Watson was clearly thrilled that Nathalia was reaching for him; so much so that the excitement in his tail was leaking into the rest of his body. Kendall recognized this, and held his leash taut, murmuring his name in a warning tone. He wasn’t always the best at listening - he had, you might say, selective hearing at best - but he seemed to hear her now.
Kendall tried to muster a smile, but it didn’t come; her expression stayed neutral as Nathalia talked about her past experience with them. Fans were a big, big reason she didn’t want to be in the spotlight. She hated the thought of being talked about, of people searching for information about her they had no right in knowing. But it was clear Nathalia wasn’t one of those. “Still cool that you came. That’s okay,” she said with a quiet laugh. “A few years ago no one knew us.” And she wished it was still so. “Yeah. I was the drummer. I’d like to think I am,” she said wistfully, choosing the words carefully and placing an unintended emphasis on was. “I drive my one neighbor a bit insane with my practicing, I think. And I’ve been giving lessons.”
Nathalia gives Kendall an understanding smile. She knew that tone. She was a supermodel, she knew all about being in the limelight, especially when you didn’t want to be. It was as if you didn’t have a choice. It was one hell of a feeling to feel like you had no rights. ‘You signed up for this, now you have to deal with it,’ ; Nathalia can’t count how many times she’s heard this before. It was a very unfair statment for celebrities. “It’s crazy how quickly you can be thrusted into stardom, isn’t it? - How no one really gives you any time to breathe or catching your footing, you’re just... Throwning into the deep end and you’re expecting to swim all by yourself...” Nathalia wasn’t expecting to say all of that, but she had. It was out there now and she couldn’t take it back. After a quick moment, she figured these open-mouthed thoughts are safe with Kendall. “What do you mean? Once a drummer, always a drummer, right? At least, I think that’s how the saying goes. Something like that,” She grins playfully at the young woman. "It would be band practice if you aren't pissing someone off, right? That's neat! Sharing your talent and wise technics, and all. You'd make a great teachers," Nathalia comments. Despite knowing the girl for less than ten minutes, she means that words that she has said.
PAUL matthews.
“No I’m a doctor, used to be a paramedic,” was Paul’s response and he shrugged his shoulders, chuckling a little at what she’d opted for. “Oh no, not a cobbler, they should only be made when peaches are involved and nothing else. My old nanny made the best peach cobbler, although my sister used to try and polish off the entire thing, so I was lucky if I ever got a look in.” He paused a moment, not entirely sure why he was suddenly rambling about peach cobbler, but apparently farmers markets brought that out of him. “I’m not that bad. I refuse to believe I’m that bad,” he laughed as he moved towards the table. “Would a little of everything be too much?”
“Ah, this makes,” Nathalia does her best with full arms to toss a gesture towards Paul, her fingers wiggling n his general direction, up and down, “A lot more sense.” She grins, clearly joking. But also, not really. In her eyes, Paul seemed a little stiff and paired with his terminology, it made sense that he was a doctor. A doctor who needed to loosen up. “Okay, is that’s what’s in cobbler pie? I’ve actually never had it... I don’t think I want to.” The model smiles at the short story the doctor tells her. “You sister sounds like she never learned how to share. Did you nanny leave the receipe anywhere? Maybe you should try making it yourself. That way you can keep it all to yourself, no swipping sisters near.” Nathalia makes an unsure face, “I don’t know, man. I honestly think I witnessed heart eyes from you as you looked upon the cheese.” Arching a brow, she looks at Paul as if he were crazy, “You would be a little bit crazy if you didn’t do that!”
FAITH vaughn.
Faith rolled her eyes, playfully, but also knowing what the true really was, especially with her evading an answer. “I have confidence in you, most times” she joked. She really did, actually even with all she knew about Nathalia and everything else, she did have confidence in her, to a point but it was always to a point with everyone. Still, it was a bit. Faith shook her head, breathing, “I know, I need to invest in more chargers, I’m a mess. Especially with the amount of phone usage I actually do during the day, you’d think I’d be better.” But she wasn’t. “I’ll invest in a car charrger and a couple portable, probably keep one in my purse and the other at work.” Faith nodded at the instruction, opening her car door to dip in and get her purse and double check if there was anything else she needed. The idea of putting her car key on the car nerved her but she trusted Nathalia and if the girl said the people were around the corner, then they were. She let out a small groan, her and hesitating to drop the key. She turned towards Nat, “well then it really works out since I was on my way away from home, we have proper great timing, we would’ve probably just missed each other.” Since again, her phone wasn’t alive, she wouldn’t have known either. Sounded like Nathalia to just show up at her place and whisk her away though, so even expecting a phone call might’ve been much. “I’ve been meaning to go there soon enough.” Faith slipped into the car, doing her seatbelt before looking up to find Nat looking at her. Eyes squinting she tilted her head to the side, “what sticky situation do you need a lawyer for?” And why, why did Nat keep ending up in this situations. She leaned back against the seat, plugging her phone into the charger, “let’s change that, who is coming after you now and why?” And maybe, double check the people you’re surrounding yourself with. But Nat was an adult - an adult who sadly kept ending up in some compromising situations, but an adult nonetheless.
“Hey!” Nathalia chrips, pointing a finger in Faith’s direction, only slightly offended. But, taking a moment to think about it... It made sense that Faith had confidence in her most of the time and not all of the time, considering how much ‘trouble’ the model seemed to find herself without even trying. “Okay... You know what? Fine. I see your point.” She curls her finger inward, looking at the lawyer with a jokingly reluctant gaze. “Whatever lack of confidence you have in me, isn’t directly from me. So, technically, you have no confidence in the people I surround myself with.” With that, Nathalia finishes wtih a sweetly innocence smile in the twist of her words. “Good!” Nathalia exclaims with an approving nod. “Because I never want to see you on the side of the road again stranded with no phone charge. And at least three in your house. I know that sounds excessive. But, here me out: Have one in your room, one in your kitchen, one in your living room. It’s where people spend most of their time, right? Plus, it’s a great help when you have friends over. No one fights over the one charging station.” Nathalia claps her hands with excitement. “Oh, yay. I’m glad I’m the one to take you there. You’ll love it. We’ll sit on the rooftop, it’s so nice.” She smiles at Faith. Though, seeing the look the lawyer gives her, Nathalia’s smile falters, before rolling her eyes. “Sticky situation,” Why did Faith have to make her feel like she was a toddler? “No one is coming after me... At least...” Nathalia frown deepens. Fuck. Would Declan come after her if he ever got the chance? “Umm,” She pulls out off of the side of the road and continues down the way she had been before stopping for Faith. “I need help taking down my abusive ex-boyfriend,” Nathalia tells Faith, rather bluntly. There was no real way in putting in the request politely...
SUMMER haze.
Summer usually only enjoyed grocery shopping late at night, when the store of her choice was empty and there was no one around to bother her. But, as she was supposed to be changing her behaviors to become a stable, more productive member of society, she was forcing herself to brave the marketplace in the light of day where there were… people. She pushed her cart around, leaning heavily on the front bar as her eyes jumped from one item to the next before she finally found something she liked. Her cart was, surprisingly, filled with semi-healthy things that she could fill her fridge with instead of sugary snacks and chips. Her mom would be proud of her, at least. Though she hadn’t visited in a while since she decided to stay in LA, she would still inevitably raid her fridge to make sure her child was eating right in her absence. It was true what they said that no matter how old you got, your parents would still treat you like their babies.
She barely registered the other person about to bump into her before Summer was blinking wide-eyed at them, taking in the bags filling her arms. She quickly bent down to pluck up the apple that had rolled out of her bag and offered it to her. “Oh no, I’m good. No need to apologize,” She said, offering her a small smile. “You look like your shopping for a small army, though. Need some help?”
Nathalia shouldn’t have been surpised by the beautiful woman’s gratious offer. It was often that Catalina showed it’s friendlier side. A smile and a friendly ‘good morning!’ on Nathalia’s morning runs on the beach, holding a door for as stranger who’s hands are full, stoping to talk to a homeless person on their way to work. Nathalia feels like she’s seen every simple act of kindness and common human decency while settling into Catalina since last year. Nathalia has seen a fair share of indecency in her life. Sometimes, it’s not directed at her, sometimes it is. Turn on the news and you’ll see powerful leaders who only care about themselves — and in increasingly violent, stupid, and unthinking ways, in which people will happily destroy themselves for a little temporary gain, a rush of power or a thrill of dominance. Maybe that’s why Nathalia almost say that the woman didn’t have to feel obliged to help her, but just as Nathalia opens her mouth, she just about allows a paper bag to slip from between her arms. When decency is given, Nathalia didn’t want to snatch it up and run with it, but, now was not a time to be stubborn and prideful. “… That would be very helpful, thank you so much for asking.” The gratitude is clearn in her voice. “I’m thinking about having some people over tonight for a dinner, and let me tell you, my friends can eat. They’ll probably eat more than a small army.” She jests. Cooking was a hobby for Nathalia, and sharing it with friends was she was truly, truly happy and content.
EVANGELINE morris.
The weather seemed to improve from its formerly conditions and Evie allowed the sunshine tempt her to the outdoor market. She heard whispers of the sweetest Caracara oranges, her favorite winter fruit. Pomegranates for her lemonade and possibly a pitcher of margaritas. The pears looked inviting, the apples looked juicy. The herbs smelled like spring. While Evie admittedly wasn’t the biggest cook, she couldn’t resist. She glanced down to mentally count the change in her hand when she nearly collided with someone. “Oh, fuck, I’m so sorry!” she gasped as she spotted a haphazard bag. “I’m fine. No worse for wear. Are you alright?”
“Oh, God. Okay. Good,” Nathalia sighs outwardly. There were a number of things that could have gone wrong just now. Just in this split second of two strangers not paying attention to what was going on in their surroundings. Nathalia could have lost all of her grocieries, or in some weird situation, this other woman could have been knocked to the ground and hurt, for all they knew! But, alas, the two women seemed to have drawn the lucky straw for today. "Yeah, I'm good. Thanks for asking." Dark hues flicker to the handful of change in the womans hand. "Nothing was lost for you, right? You still got everything you came here with? - Minus, maybe, few braincells. - On my end, too. That was a pretty hard collide. I'm honestly surprised we came out if unscathed..."
EDWARD fitzhugh.
Edward snorted as she spoke, a smile touching his lips. “At least you didn’t say Dumbledore,” he said. “First of all, not that I don’t love Harry Potter as much as the next guy, but I’ve been getting those references ever since I came to the States. And of course, Dumbledore was approximately several centuries old.” He laughed lightly as she spoke. “I don’t feel particularly spry, but thank you,” he said. “AP English.”
“I would never! I have respect for my elders,” is her playful reply. “I get it. I’m from Brazil and my accent used to be much, much thicker than it is today. It’s crazy what people will call you just because you sound different than they do.” Sometimes, it was teasing. Other times, the names were just plain ignorance that Nathalia had to endure. “Well, I don’t expect you do go ahead and start doing parkour or anything,” She laughs, and continues to do so into her next words, "An English teacher who teaches English. You just keep digging yourself a hole, don't you?"
DATE: TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4th, 2020. TIME: 5:35 PM. LOCATION: IRIS & EVE. OPEN TO: CLEO HALLIWELL.
Nathalia was in a mood. A good mood, but a mood nevertheless. Therefore, it effected everything she did throughout the day. As of now, Nathalia had spent a solid fifteen minutes beind the bar of Iris & Eve helping the bartender clean up after he made a drink order or two. It was a slow evening, but there would be a wave of people once the clock struck eight. Yes, Nathalia knows that because she has been spending a lot of time at Iris & Eve. So much so that she's beginning to pick up on a lot of things, such as how a restaurant like this is run and how many moving parts goes into it. It might be an abuse of power as she comes and goes as she pleases, mostly because she finds herself behind the bar, doing whatever the hell she wanted, but, in her defensive, who didn't love seeing a smiling supermodel such as herself behind a bar taking their drinks? In all honesty, Nathalia was probably being in a lot of money for Reina at this moment, pulling a stunt like this. Currently wiping down the counter with a beat only she could hear, - then, eventually, began humming out loud, forgetting that there were others around her that could hear... Either that, or she didn’t care. Every now and then, Nathalia would make eye contact with customers and they would give her a look of confusion, then a gentle smile. It was confusing at first, but she figured it was because she was someone with a little extra pep in her step and not rushing around to prepare for the latenight crowd... That wasn’t exactly the case. When Nathalia was still at home, she had done a full cleaning of her home. Top to bottom. While she was in the kitchen, she had taken the sunflower Marshall Bender had given her for her birthday a few days ago and placed it behind her ear while cleaning out the vase... And forgot to put it back after getting distracted by something stupid like sweeping the floors or refilling the birdfeeder in the backyard. As one customers leaves, another takes their place. Only, this beauty wasn't a customers, but a friend, and seeing her caused Nathalia to bloom a sweet smile on her perfectly glossed lips. “Cleo,” The model sings with happiness laced within her tone as Hurricane Blondie slipped into a stool on the otherside of the counter. Nathalia was alawys happy to see a familiar face. When it came to those close to her, like Cleo, it was even better. Leaning her forearms against the counter, hiding her height, the supermodel asks, “What can I get for you, Sunshine?” As if she were going to make the drink for Cleo.
PAUL matthews.
“Sorry. Habit.” A breathy laugh escaped him and Paul shook his head —- it had been a long time since he’d actually used that terminology, but it never really left you. As continued to explain how she was intending on using the apples to make a pie, a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. Definitely the best use for apples that there was. “So long as you’re good for your pie, I guess that’s all that matters. Be a travesty if you didn’t have enough, though.” To him, at least. He chuckled then, his gaze rolling up to the sky momentarily. Called out. “Do you blame me? It’s cheese. What’s not to love?”
"A habit, huh? What are you, a Terminator?" She asks with a playful tone. It was also just an easy-going way to ask what he did for a living to get him in the habit of speaking so applied. "I know! It would be the end of my damn world if I couldn't make my pie. What would I make instead? A... Cobbler pie?" She makes a face, she doesn't even know what a cobbler pie consists of. It just sounds unappetizing. Besides, an apple pie was always a classic favourite. "I don't blame you for loving cheese as much as you do. I'm just pointing out the fact that you can hardly hold a conversation. I can see you drooling already," Nathalia grins easily and for the man's sake, beings to move over towards the table. "Which ones are you going to go for?" She asks, looking over the numerous options of cheese.
DAPHNE palmer.
It was Daphne’s day off, and she had decided to head to the market place to do some grocery shopping for the week. It was a task that was always easier without having to push a stroller, so Daphne had been more than happy to leave her daughter with the in-laws and enjoy a few hours to herself. So she was somewhat lost in though and paying less attention than she should have been, standing closer than she normally would have to someone else. When the woman in front of her turned and nearly collided with her, Daphne immediately felt guilty. Feeling her face turn red, she said “I am so sorry.” She bent down to pick up the apple that was rolling away, sorry that she’d caused the other woman to drop something. “I’m okay” she said quickly. “Are you okay?” she added, before getting a good look at the other woman. Raising her eyebrows, she said “Don’t I know you from somewhere?” The brunette looked familiar, but Daphne couldn’t place where they’d met before. Which wasn’t really a surprise, given everything the blonde had been through in the past month or so.
"It's all good. It can get pretty crowded in here," She tells the person who she had run into. Nathalia wasn't exactly paying much attention to just who she was talking with, but simply watched the woman and her movements as she went to pick up the apple. "I promise, I'm all good. It's just an apple anyway, --" Nathalia stops halfway through her sentence once she realizes who's in front of her. “Detective Daphne!” Nathalia exclaims with an excited smile. When the blonde doesn't remember who she is, it give Nathalia a moment of relish in the fact that she feels releaved that not everyone remembers her face. Someone like Daphne would be talking and seeing new faces day in and day out, it made sense that she couldn't exactly place who she was. It helped that the detective didn't know who Nathalia was outside of being a costumer at a bar who needed help shaking off a creep. “Nathalia,” If she could, the model would gesture to herself if her arms weren’t so full of grocery bags. “We met a Le Rogue..." Nathalia trails off, wondering if that would spark the womans memory. If not, she happily continues with more information. "... You helped me get a creepy guy off my back and then I called you a MILF.” The supermodel finishes with a cheeky grin.
ARTHUR kanemoto.
Arthur can tell, immediately, that he’s made her uncomfortable. The surprise came when she bluntly revealed the extent of her injuries at the hands of this wicked man, and he widened his eyes, just in the slightest, disgust crossing his face. “He did that to you?” His stomach turned, sparking a burn from the tips of his fingers that crawled up his limbs and to his core, fury coloring his vision red. “The fuck?” If there was one thing Arthur couldn’t tolerate, it was hitting their wives, their girlfriends, their daughters. He may have had his own sins from his past, but there was a special circle of hell for people who’d hurt the people they loved. Even though he knew now, hearing what Declan had done to the woman… Arthur took the worst sort of offense.
What started as a challenge for her to back off, became a motivation for him. “Yeah, tell me everything,” he replied, crossing his arms. “I want to know every single thing that he did to you, so I can fucking do it to him if and when he comes out of that goddamn jail cell.” Swallowing, he leaned forward. “And I’ll tell you whatever you’re curious about. Fair trade?” He took a sip of his drink, dark eyes meeting hers. “What do you want to know first?”
Nathalia hoped that this would be the extent of the topic so that they could move onto something else. It was clear that she didn’t want to speak of the things that Declan had put her through, and she wasn’t prepared to look Arthur in the eyes with such a look etched into his features. It only reminded her that, in some twisted way, that disgusted look was reserved for her, too, because she allowed this to happen to her. “Mhm,” Comes her tight, high-pitched sounded reply. She can feel her throat being to close and become dry all at once. She looks away from Arthur, dark orbs landing on her lap as she tries to ignore the feeling of shame deeplying rooting itself in the middle of her chest, weighting her down. “Listen, it’s over. It’s not that big of deal anymore,” Nathalia mutters, her teeth pulling at the skin of her lips. Those probably weren’t the best words to use in this sitution. It was a sorry attempt to defuse Arthur’s growing anger; one that she’s felt everyday for the last year and a half. That’s why she didn’t tell Arthur. Nathalia didn’t want him feeling this way. This rage.
“He’s not in jail. Not yet. We still have to go to court.” Nathalia informs her former bodyguard rather meekly , shifting closer into her seat. She can feel her shoulders beginning to hunch and it was like there was nothing she could do to stop herself from caving into her own body. “I don’t think this is really how a friendship works, Arthur,” Nathalia comments, continuing with a hushed down and the bow of her head. "You don't want me to tell you everything. You don't mean that." Nathalia really hopes he doesn't mean that. She looks at Arthur through thick, sable lashes... “Why do you keep yourself so locked away? Other than it being no one else’s busines... Who are you? What is your favourite colour? What are your parents names? What do you like to do on your days off? I just... I just want to know you.”
