Off We Go To The Land of Fire and Ice
We’re just a few short hours from departing the U.S. for Iceland. We’ll be traveling Icelandair direct from Denver to Keflavik. That’s about a 7 1/2 hour trip with the wind at our backs.
William and I are traveling with our good buddy Jim. He’s an awesome photographer and hopefully he’ll allow me to share some of his photos on this blog. We’re also going to do a write up for Stuck In Iceland.com It’s run by our friend Jon, who’s taking us out for a night out on the town Tuesday evening for my birthday. More on that later.
Anyway, back to our plan.
We’ll fly north out of Denver, up over Canada, over the Atlantic and Greenland before landing in Iceland. Our landing time is around 6am local. So... what do we do for those few early hours? Sit in the airport coffee shop I suppose.
Later in the AM we’ll board a bus to the Blue Lagoon for a nice soak to relax and prepare us for the day ahead. I’ve always liked doing the Blue Lagoon FIRST as opposed to the final thing on the way to the airport... Resetting to the new time, the new atmosphere and mentally getting ready for the busy trip ahead seems much more agreeable when soaking in a geothermal spa.
From there are day is pretty much open... check in at our Airbnb around 2pm... then dinner and drinks with Jon and his family at 7.
Meaning -- we must get plenty of rest on the plane... then up and at ‘em bright and early Tuesday. Thanks for reading! We’ll post more soon.
