Deathnote AU idea where Light physically attacks Misa to kill her and Rem attempts to save her but is too late - not being able to finish writing Light’s name and dying with Misa. Because of their deaths occurring at the same place same time they fuse as one. (Headcanon that shinigami are lost humans souls, perhaps those who wrote in the death note before, and this is what makes it possible.)

Light covers his first physical murder up, now showing he will do anything to anyone who gets in his way - making him cross that threshold of not just being an “indirect killer” - but an active murderer.

When I first thought of this I thought maybe their fusion would kill Light in revenge or have a struggle on that desire for revenge due to Misa and Rem’s now combined perception. But, I still like the idea of Ryuk killing Lifht like the original because it brings the story full circle.

So, my other idea is that they do not share memory because humans would lose their memories becoming lost souls and then shinigamis. This Misa-Rem fusion is their own being, and feels a strange desire they do not understand to bring revenge to those in abusive situations. Being the first fused shinigami with human (not just evolved human go shinigami) they are able to have more freedom in what the do and become a new complication for Light indirectly.

Anyways just spitballing I like thinking about that kinda stuff :p
