love when characters have to have a domestication arc before you can even consider giving them a redemption arc

Daiki: no more scams, no more cons, no more hustles, no more hoodwinks, no more gambits, no more stratagems, and no more bamboozles. Cipher: I notice you left out flimflam? Daiki: No more flimflams!! Cipher: dammit!
it's fine i don't even need to be part of social groups or friend groups anyway (giant hole appears in my chest spontaneously) ? what's that
"Oh my Archer..."
“i think you've been avoiding me.” {Bya/Yama}
growing closer.
Had he been avoiding Yamamoto? Byakuran didn't think so. He wasn't avoidant by nature. But Yamamoto also made him feel emotions he wasn't sure how to handle. "I'm sorry if I have." is all he can think to say.
“you seem comfortable on your own. i wonder if that's the same thing as never feeling lonely.” {Aven/Yuki}
growing closer.
"I can tell you, it isn't." He couldn't say much on the subject. He was more lonely than people knew. Not that anyone could tell, because he always busy and always chatting happily. "They're very different."
// people are posting spoilers for the fate collab (Asia servers went live last night) and im so mad
Skottie. Anyone else calling Skott a nickname like that would be on the receiving end of a thorough verbal lashing! But this is Aventurine. Of course he can call Skott whatever he pleases! And Skottie will take the nickname of choice with all the grace that he can muster.
"Um..." Skott murmurs. His hopes of clocking out and going home at a reasonable time are dashed by the considerable stack of papers presented to him. "A-alright!"
...How much of this paperwork is above Skott's pay grade? ( Surely not that much. Right? ) If a member of the Ten Stonehearts is willing to entrust a portion of his workload to the humble blue collar working man Skott, then who is he to refuse?!
This is the perfect opportunity for Skott! He can show off his competence and efficiency! Surely this will gain him SOME kind of respect and possibly a promotion!
"Of course Mr. Aventurine! Whatever you need! I'll have all this done for you ASAP!"
Aventurine should feel bad about dumping his work on Skott. Poor Skott. Poor spineless Skott. But he needed to learn to say no, and Aventurine was probably one of the safest people to say no to. In the meantime, bullying him gently (was it really gently?) was going to entertain him like crazy.
"Much appreciated, Skottie. You're so reliable. I don't know what those guys in your other department had you doing, but it was a waste."
"We accidentally started living together."
"That awkward moment when you realize you've packed everything you need for your cats but forget to pack for yourself."
Hyacine's strong posture wavered at the mention of hearing she wasn't feeling well. Rather than and either or, certainly both Ica and Clementine had a hand in this. "I'm really fine..." At least she was fine enough to not need extensive coddling.
Having to lay down seemed like a bit much, but the offer of help with some of her work was... Rather tempting. "I won't turn away the help... I've been mixing medicine for some time and I'm not quite done yet." Since Phainon was also a nousporist he would be familiar with alchemy, so she felt that she could trust him with this similar sort of task. Turning back to her work table the healer paused, a hand going to her head as she closed her eyes to keep the dizzy feeling that washed over her at bay. "Mmm..." That wasn't good, but she collected herself with a breath and opened her eyes again. "Here, let me show you the recipe."
Phainon was always good at paying attention to people, so he noted the way she had to lean on the table to stay stable and felt his body stiffen if she started to fall. He wouldn't let her fall. She didn't though, so he forced himself to breathe.
"Alright, if we finish this up, do you think you could sit down at least for a few minutes? Or sit while I do it?" Anything to keep her from standing and getting dizzier...
feeds them over a dozen milk tea flavors for their feed back.
Oh taste testing milk tea flavors was going to be... difficult. Aventurine already had a hard time stomaching most fancy foods because of his troubled (to put it gently) childhood. Still, this was a director giving him these, so he was going to taste them with a smile on his face (and probably throw up in the bathroom later-)
"I suppose you have time for me to go over these right now?" Doubtful that the gentle old man would bring so many drinks if he didn't.
"Oh yes. And how lucky it is that we haven't found them yet, meaning there is no one to uplift them, or interfere with their progress."
"The show has a unique premise on what the future would look like. Unique aliens and all that. Or share it, its ...not like its making any money."
A sigh.
"Just say its a IPC original until we can find the planet it came from."
"It's also adorable when planets try to predict their futures and what space is like. I saw a horror movie once about creatures not dissimilar to the Swarm except they were bipedal and had acid blood." He wished he had never seen that movie, because it effected his dreams severely.
"I don't have anyone to share it with and my cats currently lack the ability to speak. However, if I had friends, I would certainly tell them it was an IPC original. Can't have the IPC losing out on money, can we? What if they go bankrupt because someone doesn't buy some tv show?" A joke, of course. The IPC would never go under from one person not buying something.
"Its from a old satellite we found. Its called Tenchi Muyo. I'll email to your phone later."
He had a dog or two, some more traditional animals that went againt the director incentive to have a exotic one. He isn't some Laofu general who sleeps all day long and has a pet lion, of course not. He's very normal.
"We believe it came from a civilization that hasn't entered the space stage yet when it came out. our department had to work hard to learn the language and translate it properly."
"Much appreciated." Wow he was saying that a lot today, wasn't he? This old man sure was generous. It was making Aventurine somewhat suspicious. Nothing good comes for free. Surely there was a motive to all this kindness?
"Is it odd I find the idea of planets that haven't entered the space exploration stage to be adorable?" It was like seeing a kitten take it's first steps with it's cute little tail sticking up to him. So precious and adorable. Plenty of planets that hadn't reached space existed, the IPC found them all the time and destroyed them just as often, but it was still adorable to Aventurine that they existed.
"Indeed! Astropolis would welcome you when you feel like a vacation. After all, you worked so hard recently."
As the manager of Astropolis, the greatest most neutral grounds for all departments. He would advertise his own company, then again Adventurine was someone who would do his own thing.
He has no qualms about the situation, he is a director, and stonehearts as powerful as they are, are lower in position then directors.
"Oh! If you need your brain dead for a few days, there this new cartoon ...well old cartoon I could recommend, much older then even I! I could send you a copy." Every step was made with precision , despite his grandfather like attitude he took too much space, his very charisma enveloping the area.
Like a director would.
"With my incredible luck, I'll run into trouble there as well." He mutters playfully, though quietly. Always making jabs at his own so called "luck" anyway. "But a vacation at Astropolis would be perfect. I'll be sure to check it out."
"I would appreciate a cartoon to watch as well. I could at least put it on for my cats while I'm away at work. What's the name?" He hated that they were ipad cats but he was away so often he couldn't entertain them the way they needed to be entertained.
Being able to walk slowly was nice. Aventurine didn't get the chance to walk and look around at everything. Life in the IPC was so fast paced. Was this the life of a director, or just someone in the Traditional Project Department?
"If you were younger, I would have asked for a pinkie swear. Hahah!"
His laugh is sincere and joyous, one free of worries for now as the old man walks towards the store, slowly but with confidence that there was nothing else on his schedule.
Astropolis could wait for now, he wanted to try something a bit more simple.
"So how was Penacony, is it as intense as they say it is? I hear that unlike my Astrolopis, they live for their art."
And he would have made that pinkie promise, he was sure. Unfortunately, in his line of work, it rarely mattered what sort of embarrassing thing was asked of you from a director, if it was asked, you did it. Still, he brushes it off with a laugh easily, though not as sincere as the man in front of him. (He performed for so long he wasn't sure what a genuine laugh sounded like from himself.)
Walking after him, Aventurine answered his questions casually. "It was very intense. There was very little for me to enjoy, though. Beautiful people, but most of them were hardly worth paying attention too. I didn't get a chance to enjoy it, really. Even when I got called to participate in that faux Holy Grail war, I spent the whole time dealing with complicated situations. No rest for the wicked, am I right?"
