this is really up the alley of the fa.te enjoyers though it seems! the fa.te aspect is MUCH more prevalent this year than last year it seems. and i am genuinely glad for you all! and i hope this year's collaboration brings you as much joy as last year's brought me.

It was a simple greeting, but as someone as ...distinguished as he is, the coffee store is the last place you would expect someone like the director of one of the seven divisions of the IPC to be. He made no motion to hide his identity, of course being such a public figure, it was expected that some security guards were scattered about.

Still, to find the director in such a store...

Maybe he's testing some new products?

Where the Mundanite chooses obscurity in, well, most of his public appearances — there are others of public standing and recognition who would sooner forego some kind of incognito and... appear bare faced wherever it is they may roam.

Yes, even making an outing to somewhere as humble and unassuming as a specialty store, Ratio favors donning his beloved bust. Besides, at this point, he is quite familiar with his coffee preferences. ( Medium roast, standard brew or cold brew. Freshly ground as often as possible. A dash of flavored creamer and a generous spoonful of sugar! )

He has little need of being seen or known on such a routine venture.

However, today he happens on none other than Arita. Or rather: Arita is the one who took notice of Ratio.

Though he noticed the security detail making their way about the shop themselves, Ratio did not care to delve into the reason for their presence if he did not think it necessary. But the answer found its way to him anyway.

"Ah, an unexpected surprise! Hello sir." Ratio greets Arita in kind, with surprising conversational leisure. "I apologise, my mind is a million light years away. Intellectual pursuits are endless."

He adjusts his stance, a bag of his favored coffee cradled lovingly in the crook of his arm. "If I may: what brings you to an establishment like this? It's rare to find key figures from the IPC mingling amongst the commonfolk."

"Instant ramen is disgusting. So long as I have you... around you're going to eat like a civilised person from a civilised world. Not like a starving college student from the backwater worlds." ( from: Sugilite! )

No response; silence. No witty retort, no call to arms, not even her trademark glare promising pain and suffering. No, there was just an unending, unnerving silence that seemed to persist into infinity.

The sound of scraping metal breaks the silence.

" Ah— " She looks down. The bar of titanium she'd been examining was now bent into the indent of her hand. " Sorry, blacked out for a second. Can you make this quick? I'm supposed to go out with a friend for dinner today. "

Whew, good thing she didn't hit him. With how thin he was, she might've killed him!

The Prismatic Insight stares right back. Meeting the uncomfortable silence with an equally uncomfortable silence of his own. Two can play this game!

Until the scraping noise pulls him from this rather dumbass, petty exchange of nonverbal barbs.

O-oh....

He needs a second to register the sudden crunch. And a second beat to process the source of said metallic crumpling.

It's Miss To. Miss To's hand specifically. Wrapped around titanium.

Crushed titanium. Scrunched up like a discarded soda can.

That's... um.

Well that's unsettling! Hm. One may go so far as to say: downright terrifying really! If anyone says otherwise, Sugilite will consider them a liar and nothing less.

Sugilite clears his throat. Quiet, and subtle. A hand goes for the knot of his tie, straightening it. "Eat somewhere that doesn't pass swine slop off as food. Put it on the IPC's bill as part of the tally your contract's compensation. I refuse to be embarrassed by someone eating anything... like that."

The Prismatic Insight purses his lips. With the latest meeting of the Ten Stonehearts adjured, Sugilite can barely conceal his seething disgust for Aventurine. As the Stonehearts clear out of the boardroom and make their way off, Sugilite is left in the lavish hallway with none other than Aventurine.

He gives Aventurine a once over, eyes bright and sharp as he sizes up his fellow Stoneheart. His expression barely neutral. A muscle in his cheek twitches.

Disgusting. Pathetic.

How did any of the other Stonehearts who voted during Aventurine's trial tip the scales in his favor? Bribery, perhaps. This is the conclusion that Sugilite circulates back to often, anyway. Alas: Sugilite lacks any substantial evidence to present to Diamond on the matter, but he can't shake the feeling he's missing something all the same.

"I don't know what Jade saw in you, scraping you out of the shit and the filth like she did." He says finally. Words carefully annunciated. Cold. Almost hissed. "But she should have left you in that Aeons forsaken backwater."

i was reminded that i do indeed have an entire scenario in mind of sk.ott being a hero.ic sp.irit in the next collaboration.

if i remember my f.ate lore right: time has lost all meaning to people who become hero.ic sp.irits. meaning that sk.ott could be summoned from any time. and he would be supplied with the knowledge he needs for the time that he arrives in / is summoned to during a ho.ly gra.il w.ar.

meaning: sk.ott could arrive knowing / learning that this point in time is just after he met a terrible fate. and iirc plan.arcadia's story arc has taken place over like a week or so thus far? so that loss is VERY fresh for anyone that would give a damn about him.

meanwhile sp.irit sk.ott has had a lot more time to come to terms with being gone and what that actually means. he's still a scheming, high strung jackass. ( and probably the assassin class himself? because funny? )

but i love the idea that he's, in his clumsy and kinda awkward way, gentle towards the trail.blazer when they summon him.

because it MUST be them. i DON'T CARE!!!! about the canon collaboration characters. sk.ott must be summoned by the trail.blazer!!! it's my scenario i will make it what i want!!! ( / joking )

and when this ho.ly gr.ail w.ar has come to an end, this incarnation of sk.ott can at least try to provide some kind of proper closure to the ones left behind. say some kind of goodbyes. he'll even get emotional himself!!!

keep going! stay reliable and unbribeable! ( but don't be afraid to be underhanded and play dirty when you have to! all is fair in capitalism AND war! )

(': and the trail.blazer's wish is to have present sk.ott back. and he gets to be alive and it's okay and the wish won't get fucked up by the gr.ail's penchant for contorting wishes.

Skott can't help but bristle. The indignity he feels on Aventurine's behalf is indescribable! And palpable!

His fists clench at his sides, uneven nails pressing into his palms. ( A nervous nail biter as he is, the edges of his fingernails are often crooked, jagged, and all together uneven. ) If Skott could actually beat Sugilite, he'd punch that son of a bitch right in the face! No second guessing, no hesitation! All instinct and full force!

Alas, even as a Pathstrider, Skott is not a particularly strong one. The Preservation blessed him with abilities in the vein of defense instead of attack.

"The Amber Lord as my witness... I'd hit him where it hurts most for you sir." Skott says once he can regain some semblance of his composure. ( ...And he is certain Sugilite is out of earshot! ) "I can't believe he would say such things to you!"

"Sorry ... for being late...!" Skott gasps out between shallow breaths. He doubles over, hands on his knees. The mess of his bangs hags freely around his face as his head lowers. He takes a few much-needed breaths. "Got! Held up with work! ...Y'know how it goes."

The Lone Wolf swears up and down to himself regularly that he's just meeting up with Yumi to "maintain social connections" for his personal interests in his new assignment to Planarcadia.

And yet: on days he's agreed to meet up with her, he feels a sense of frustration and urgency ( even a twinge of guilt! ) when he is held up at the office.

"Anyway!" He tries to sound less like a beached fish. He glances up again, his bangs in the way, partially obscuring Yumi from view. Skott clumsily brushes his hair aside, only looking more disheveled in the process. "I'm here now! And... my evening's clear. So! Whatever you'd like to do! We can do it!"

"My beloved actor, your role in this film is... well, I'd say one of the most important of all!" The Director's tone is rather serious. His words spoken on an even keel — though his usual dramatic flair lurks just beneath the surface. His entire demeanor brims with tension "Yours is the role of guardian and friend. It is essential that you keep both aspects of your role in mind! For yourself as much as your friends who rely on you."

...And here comes the signature drama. He places a hand upon Dan Heng's shoulder, giving the shorter man a gentle but enthusiastic shake. "The Nameless are one hell of a cast! The chemistry between you all is unrivaled! The likes of which I have rarely seen in my career. I must confess: I'm a little envious!"

In the ranks of the ( relatively ) newly fledged Galaxy Rangers, celebration and merrymaking can take many forms. It is up to the individual and the occasions / choices / actions / what have you, they personally find worthy of opening the bottle for!

The occasion La Mancha finds worthy of celebration is friendship. Or, at least, a sense of camaraderie and solidarity between fellow followers of The Hunt.

"I think... this calls for another drink." La Mancha nods sagely at his own conclusion. As though he has come to some great revelation. "Whatever you consider fitting, my dear host! I, your gracious guest, leave the choice to you."

"If this is a joke, I'm not laughing." Sugilite gives Miya a once over. His expression.... flat. Unamused. "Look, Miss, I think there's been a mistake here. I'm supposed to meet up with my security escort. Not — some girl."

Sugilite's lips purse for a moment. Then he continues, "if Aventurine — or whoever else — put you up to this, then they wasted your time. And mine."

No matter how many times she saw it, it never failed to impress Yumi just how dedicated Skott was to his work. Even sitting in their booth at their cafe, he was taking care of things on his phone with one hand and taking bites of his cheesecake with the other. She couldn't help but stare, even though she knew if he caught her he'd feel bad for taking up their time together with work chats and emails. But it wasn't really like she minded, watching him in his groove, he was just so dedicated to making sure he was doing everything he could. She kept her eyes trained on him, the way his brows bunched up the longer he read let her know exactly how the conversation was going.

Oh, from that little crooked frown, someone made a big blunder it seems. He's even forgone his fork to use both hands to type a response, a huff followed by one hard screen press signaled the end of his rant. She took the initiative to top off his coffee, getting a carafe for the table was usually the best way to go for his after work meetups. She'd even gotten his preferred sweeteners right, it was kind of a little game for her too at this point.

She felt a smile crack as soon as she could tell he caught sight of her, how did she manage that? Even with his sunglasses, she seemed to just be able to tell when he was looking at her. He looked to be getting ready to apologize when she gently nudged the coffee closer to him, feeling all fuzzy when taking a sip seemed to help him calm down a bit.

"So, who messed up this time?"
