Our captain Canada for Worlds!!! Hopefully we get to bronze! Struggled a lot with the layout/design portion of it - learned that graphic design is, in fact, NOT my passion - but I'm so glad it's finally done! Will be posting a full timelapse at some point (maybe make an instagram account? honestly, probably not).

Finally finished my fanart of Tampa Bay Storm Shane from @minrozanov (on twt)'s 'good on my own accord'!! He's at Boston now but the Storm helmet was so vividly described that I HAD to draw it. The fic is now complete and I'm devastated, but so thankful for them for giving us such a thoroughly thought out world and beautiful characterization and exploration of Shane. I've mentioned this before, but this fic was an integral factor to gaining confidence to engage with my autism. Anyways! Thank you for an amazing fic and maybe I'll get to Boston Shane?

we see Ilya’s depression so fucking clearly in season 1 wayyy before he ever acknowledges what it is, but outside of tumblr I don’t see anyone talk about it which is Crazy to me. he’s the poster boy for the thousand yard stare and so much of his behaviour is completely explainable and Honestly Valid. kill me for saying it but if the prettiest boy id ever seen wanted to Know Me and i was in the middle of the State Mandated torture nexus i would also want to clam up and hit the bricks

It's so evident in the way that he reacts with his father, especially after his death - how helpless and out of control he is in his own life (which is why I think he also engaged in a lot of casual sex and smoking - it was the one way he could exercise agency in his life). He didn't even have control over his own hockey (coaches and his father constantly monitoring and judging his performance with totally arbitrary metrics). And so that is where his inital criticism of Shane ("How does it feel to be perfect") is an acknowledgement of how he, Ilya, will never be perfect in the eyes of those that are supposed to love him (in contrast to Shane's internal struggle with perfection).
