I think Star Wars is easier to engage with once you realize and accept the fact that there are literally multiple “canons” in existence. Star Wars as a whole is basically a mulitiverse. You have Lucas’ canon, you have Disney canon, you have EU, you have comics, you have books, you have games, etc. These are all made by different people, with different interpretations of Star Wars, different understandings of the real world, different ideas and opinions and agendas. Each of these paints a different picture of Star Wars, and some of these pictures contradict one another. They each exist in their own version of Star Wars.

Star Wars is essentially a multiverse.

And when you have something like that, and try to discuss an aspect of Star Wars with folks, it’s important to make sure you’re all on the same page about which Star Wars you’re discussing. They’re different. It’s like the multiple Spider-Mans thing. If we’re discussing Spider-Man, let’s first make sure we know whether we’re talking about Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, or Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, or Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, or one of the ones from Into the Spider-Verse, or one of the comic book Spider-Mans. Because if I’m talking about Holland’s Spider-Man, and you’re talking about Garfield’s, and we don’t KNOW we’re talking about two very different things, that’s a recipe for disaster.
