This photo has been in my drafts, waiting for me to come up with something to say about it. It finally dawned on me, that you don’t need me to tell you why this photo is worth seeing, the photo speaks for itself.

look up the Heidentor ruin in Austria for a clever way to "restore" ruins without actually restoring them

You're right, I think that this is a fantastic, minimally invasive way of "recreating" a structure so that it doesn't damage the site! Visitors can look through a see through window with an image etched onto it that will superimpose a recreation of what experts think the building may have originally looked like.
For those with ResearchGate access, you can also read an article about the physical display and other digital reconstructions of this site.

was looking up 50s fashion for writing reasons and i CANNOT get over the outfits these girls are rocking
- This is bobby soxer fashion that originated in the 1940s, not 50s. Specifically, this 2016 Tumblr post attributes this photo to Life magazine in 1947
- The style was not considered masculine in its time (for commenters remarking on crossdressing laws); pants had been mainstream women’s fashion since the 30s and especially during WWII due to women in factory work. This was an extremely popular style associated with fans of popular music performers like Frank Sinatra. It was a teenage style in particular; the 40s saw the number of girls attending secondary school rise substantially, as did the number of teens with disposable incomes.
It’s fascinating to me that people under 30 are looking at very trendy look today and seeing gender nonconformity. It says more about what we consider “feminine” clothing to be today (Revealing? Low necklines? Translucent? Form-fitting? Curve-enhancing?) than the image itself.
Jason Anderson
British artist Jason Anderson creates colorful abstract paintings composed of pixelated swatches of pastel-toned oil paint. Up-close, the artist’s paintings look like blocky layers of shapes and color; but, from afar, his scenes—featuring cityscapes, roads, trains, and marinas—are revealed.
Anderson began his career as a stained glass apprentice, where he worked on restoring the windows of cathedrals. He soon progressed onto designing the glass murals himself, where he learned how to break down subject matter into “jigsaws” of colored sections. This approach still shines through in his paintings today—complex scenes are brought to life with simple shapes and careful consideration to hue and tone.
These really speak to me.

Not many of us are jet-setting around the world this year. Take those loyalty points and put them to good use.
This is an incredible organization. I travel for work, and have so many miles I don't need. Just pledged 150k, enough for 10-15 flights. If you've got an airline rewards card or miles that are just sitting there, please consider.
