Well, I didn’t say what happens. All you know is that it has a happy ending!
I’m willing to try some mage fiction; I’m sure your recommendations are wonderful.
I suppose so...but the ending is the most important part, you know.
In that case, what types of stories interest you? “Fiction” is too broad of a genre to narrow down...

To be fair, it has a happy ending. Personally, I’ve only read two books– er, in the past two months, I mean. Ha… I don’t read often. I rather enjoy non-fiction. My favourite book is one on Darwinian evolution.
Oh, spoiling the end is just cruel...I wont ask stupid questions again. Forgive me.
..If you’re interested in reading more, I could offer a few suggestions. They’re mainly mage fiction, but..I’m sure I could find a few books outside of that criteria.

“But! You should show me sometime, if you can. Or want to. Maybe seeing it in action will help me figure it out! I’ll try it out anyway before then, though. Oh man, I can’t believe it, I wonder if my mom even knew about this. I could help plants grow! I could help a hundred plants grow! I could start a forest! A forest in the dark of gigantic ferns! Hey, does it work on fungus too? Oh man, gigantic mushrooms!”
“Oh, we’re also to the top floor, finally. I feel like those stairs are longer than normal today or something. The braille books are back there, on those shelves in the corner!”
[She points toward them as she looks back at Micah, then Goes.]
“You’re getting awfully far ahead of yourself...you need to slow down. One thing at a time, please...plants don’t like to be rushed. And neither do I, for that matter...”
[As glad as Micah was to have met someone he could relate to, even if only slightly, he was even more glad that they had reached the top of the stairs at long last. It seemed as if they had been talking forever...another thing he wasn’t all that used to. Oh well.]
“..Thank you, again.”
“See you around.”

[She cringed.]
“I-I mean! It’s different for other people of course! But. I should be able to at least do that much.”
“And! It is though! People don’t usually.. I mean, connection between people, it’s special!”
“You really think so!? I. Wait, I have no idea how. How do you do it? Is it like when rocks are still alive, they kinda do what they want?”
“You are counted as everyone as well, you know...even if you don’t like it.”
[Micah figures that it’s probably best to let that go, though. Getting into a debate about morality and self-respect with a complete stranger was probably the lowest thing on his ‘list of stuff he wanted to do right now’ pile. He just shrugs at her second question.]
“I...don’t know.”
“I just do.”

It’s about a pilot of a plane during a war, shot down behind enemy lines. I rather enjoyed it; I’m sure you’ll enjoy it too.
That sounds...depressing.
Forgive me for making assumptions, but you don’t strike me as the kind of person who...reads sad things. Is that who you are?

“If it gets to the point where I wasn’t fast enough to counter that much rock, I deserved to be crushed. It’s one of the first things I learned..”
[She totally gets what he was trying to say. Probably. It comes with the comprehension of her own poorly structured thoughts.]
“Oh! Oh, man, I didn’t even know earth mages could do that!! That.. whoa. I thought the most we could do was sculpt rock, can you create life? Or is it helping plants grow, or moving them? You have such a cool family, I want to try!”
[Oz stopped on the stairs and sidestepped to give Micah a lengthy sidelong look (these are really fucking long stairs holy shit).]
“S-similar?.. You.. Really? You think that?”
“Nobody deserves to die. That’s one of the first things I was taught...”
[So maybe they weren’t so similar after all...but that wasn’t a bad thing. After all, for people to get along, they couldn’t be entirely the same. Difference was what attracted others after all, right? So this was a good thing.
Not that he’d say that, given how excited Oz seemed to be.]
“It’s really not all that special...”
“I mean...you’re an earth mage as well, correct? So I’m sure that with a little practice, you might be able to...do something...”

[She jumps at the highly false and slanderous accusation of her being jumpy.]
“U-uhm, you’re not angry, are you? I, uh, just like getting to know things. But. You could say I don’t get out much, yeah.
“Away from that, it does matter! I’m not sure what you’re referring to, but whatever it is, it definitely does.”
[Oz kinda.. teeter flops sideways while somehow remaining upright.]
“Ughghhhh I’m never gonna be able to pay it all back.. At least not in a timely manner. Eh, I’m not tired of the upside yet though.”
[She perks back up to a normal walking position.]
“Well, thanks for trying! It’s all that matters. That’s cool though, even if you don’t know them well. And I can do something about a cave collapse! You just. Fix it. I guess that’s from an earth mage perspective though. But if that’s the case, I don’t know how others do it. I guess they just don’t think about earthquakes as much?”
“Not angry...just...confused. We’re similar though, you and I.”
“It’s not a topic I find myself speaking on often, but...I feel plant life much more strongly than I do...dirt. I’m told it ran in my family.”
[Micah kind of just shrugs awkwardly, unsure of how else he could have possibly worded that. He wasn’t pleased with how it had come out, but he lacked the vocabulary to make it sound right. Oh well.]
“In my experience, it isn’t as simple for others to do that.”
“Besides, you can’t really do anything if the earth crushes you first.”

I know a book based on a true story, but it’s not exact. Both non-fiction, and fiction. It’s a good book, I rather enjoyed it when I read it.
Oh..? Of course. I should have thought of that...
...Though I suppose there’s nothing stopping me from taking out multiple books, either. You have my attention, though.

That’s...a good question.
I want to experience as much as possible..non-fiction is a literal gate into someone’s life, but fiction itself shows just as much when it comes to morals and hopes...
[He’s kind of quite for a long while, before letting out a sort of frustrated sound.]

[She starts walking again.]
“Yeah, but caves are great! Way better. You know where everything is at every moment, because everything is earth, and the light doesn’t jam everything into depending on one sense. Buildings are just too close. And also, they could fall in and kill you and you wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. If people were just sensible and made them out of stone, everything would be better..
Speaking of which, it’s so nice to meet a fellow earth mage! I feel like I haven’t talked with one in a long time, which was sad.”
“But, wait, wood? What? You can’t feel anything through it, or do anything with it, right?”
“We’re to the stairs, so watch your step? There’s railings.. Oh, do you know the owner? Hm, maybe you could put me into contact with him so I could ask him to go easy on the late fines.. Hah.”
“It’s not as if caves don’t give out too, you know...all it takes is an earthquake.”
“I’m glad to be of use, at any rate.”
[Micah kind of just follows along. Nice.]
“It doesn’t really matter, does it? For someone so jumpy, you certainly ask a lot of questions...do you not get out a lot?”
[He doesn’t mean the question in a rude way; he’s just being honest. As a person who wasn’t often allowed out himself, it wasn’t too difficult to tell when someone was im the same situation.]
“Anyways, I don’t know them all that well.”
“I doubt I could help you much with your late fees.”

“It’s nice to meet you too! Really, meeting you has made my day.”
“I dunno, buildings always trip me up. They’re so compact, yet so cut off.. Anyways, I’d think they wouldn’t move everything around just to keep it organised, and also not put stuff usually meant for blind people after a flight of stairs?”
[Oz stopped and tilted her head.]
“Wait, do you have trouble with wood and stuff too? Hold on.. you need to specify non-mage books, too, like all you’ve read are mage specific things.. Are you an earth mage?”
“You said you had been living in a...cave before, yes? I’d think if anything, that would be more compact...try to think of buildings like warmer, more modernized caves. Unless you were...joking.”
“This place has never been the best with organization, at least in my experience. The owner is a little bit...air-headed at times.”
“I wouldn’t say I have trouble with wood...I understand it a bit more than others seem to, though. Your assumptions are...correct.”

No need to thank me! I was only trying to help; any decent person should do that. Maybe I could even help you find a good non-mage author book to read? I’m looking for something to read myself, but I can wait.
I don’t want to be a bother, but if you’re willing to, that would be excellent.
I...don’t even really know where to start. Having someone who’s familiar with their form of literature would be a great help.

At the sound of the news, Micah’s face seems to light up, though only for a moment.]

“But you-”
[Oz stopped herself. The drumming fingers distracted her, and she remembered last time she had pushed too hard and pissed someone off (thanks Marcel). Which, to say the least, had ended badly.]
“Uh, never mind.”
“But yeah! New locations suck, especially when they’re as muffled as this place. It’s good for reading, but all this wood is terrible when it comes to not bumping into stuff. Ok! Yes! I think!”
[Oz essentially spun in a circle, then stopped, pointing the other way.]
“The stairs are that way! I don’t know about non-mage specifically, but last I checked, there was a group of braille books in the back of the top floor, so I guess we can start there and see if any of the authors fit up with what you want.”
[She began walking in the supposed direction of the stairs, checking behind her to make sure.. wait I don’t think they’ve introduced themselves fuck]
“Oh, also, I’m Oz. Who’re you?”
“You get used to it well enough as you spend more time in places like this.”
[Fortunately for the both of them, Micah’s agitated finger-tapping seems to dissipate as they move on to a new topic. He was always interested in talking about books; it was a much more comfortable topic for him.]
“The top floor? They have been moved since I was last here, then...”
“My name is Micah. It’s...nice to meet you, Oz.”

Hm… I think it depends on what kind of book genre you read. Nonfiction is just facts that happen to be written by a non-mage. I think the problem would lie in fiction.
I want to read them both.
..Do you know if they have any books in braille, too? Certainly, it’s not just limited to mages...
