FAQ for the Araman Community Playlist!

I’ve been getting a lot more recommendations and questions about the community playlist I’ve been compiling so it’s time for a quick round up of some “rules” and answers to a few repeat questions so this stays fun for everyone!

What is this whole thing about?

Inspired by Jam Like Critical Role from @/kimabutch, we’re starting up Heard at the Hallowed Round, a playlist project for the characters of Araman, with the start of campaign 4! This is a community playlist facilitated by me, compiling music that is reminiscent of characters and dynamics from Critical Role Campaign 4!

How do I submit a song rec?

All recommendations should be sent through my inbox. This will make sure that I don’t lose things in comment threads or DMs. You’re always free to DM me with questions or thoughts or anything else! I love to hear from you all, and I love chatting with people! But please direct recs to the ask box.

Is there a format for sending in recs?

No! You can recommend things in whatever format tickles your fancy! Just make sure you include the song, artist and the character/relationship/table you’re submitting it for!

Can I send more than one rec?

Yes! Feel free to send as many as you like! Just please keep it limited to 1 or 2 songs per ask, as this makes it much easier for me to make sure everything is accounted for, added to the playlist, and logged on the spreadsheet!

Can I send in a whole playlist?

Feel free to! I will likely not add the playlist to the master list I’m compiling as that can be tricky, but I am happy to share your labors of love with others! If you want to single out a song or two for a playlist addition, that is welcome!

Has this song been sent in already?

The playlist is getting larger by the minute! The best way to check is by searching the song spreadsheet to see. You’re welcome to send a song that’s already been rec’ed for one character for another character it reminds you of!

Did you get my rec? When will you respond?

I most likely got your ask, but if it’s been a while and you feel like I haven’t responded, feel free to resend. Tumblr likes to eat asks sometimes. That being said, please give me some grace, I work a full time job and have real world things to do also.

Will you answer every ask you get?

I am but a humble archivist for this project. I will try to answer every ask I receive! I won’t reject songs just because they’re not my taste. THAT being said though, I will reserve the right to use my discretion if I think something is inviting trouble to my blog or I think it’s unwelcome in the community. If you send me an ask with unkind phrasing towards characters/actors/others/me, I’m not posting that. If you recommend a song that seems to be encouraging problematic or hateful views towards characters/actors/others, I’m not posting that. If you send something in for a relationship that is genuinely problematic, I’m not posting that. Basically, this project is for fun! If something is going to cause trouble for me or others, I’m going to politely decline. I am only interested in this project contributing positively to the community. If there’s discourse to be involved in, there are other places for that!

i'm finally getting caught up on cr4 e31 and man. the clear influences of the player's real life culture in their characters (and in the worldbuilding in brennan's case) is amazing and adds such a richness. like thaisha is so clearly influenced by like. black american folk culture Especially with the orcish revolutionaries. idk if liam is irish but he's at least running with a lot of the irish american working class stuff brennan injected into the world in terms of the hal and the culture of the round. and azune's whole bit about not having anyone to speak his native language to and his disconnect to his own identity (diaspora narrative). i Love when real world cultures are reflected in fiction it's so good.

Ramblings:

- I am not okay with the fact that Kattigan and Teor will never interact again. Genuinely devastating

- Kattigan didn't even get to tell Teor about Primus aghghgghg. Tachonis is taking everything from him

- also the demons' ruse of Teor being in trouble to bait Kattigan...

- RIP Katteor...

- I really want to see Kattigan's reaction next session...

- CYD!!! WE HAD HIM FOR A DAY AND A HALF. A DAY AND A HALF.

- I really liked cyd :(

- He had really fun interactions with Teor and Thimble

- He just escaped imprisonment and running from the Tachonises...

- We had him for like two seconds it's actually so sad

- I didn't necessarily expect him to stick around with a party, but I also didn't expect him to instantly die so..

- Azune losing two Falconer buddies... He's already so stressed :(

- I hope that the other PCs find out about the light powers eventually (not anytime soon)

- The fact that Teor and Cyd were only together for a day and a half after almost a decade apart is so tragic

- This felt like a good time in the story for a PC to die and I'm super stoked to see Travis' next character!!

if Mumford & Sons existed in Aramán I think 17-year-old Azune would have listened to Little Lion Man on repeat every night in his tent and cried. And I think Teor would eventually go up to him and say "you are not little lion man" and it would just make Azune cry harder because now he thinks he accidentally offended Teor. And Teor would panic and say "no no I meant you are not metaphorical little lion man, I didn't think you thought you were an actual lion man." Which, of course, would just make Azune even more upset because he feels guilty that he thought Teor would not understand the metaphor. And eventually he'd just be lying on the ground ugly sobbing while Teor is patting his back and saying "I wish to kill Mumford and all of his Sons"

Just finished the Schemer's arc (yes I am behind) and I am chewing drywall about Azune Nayar. His eyes are like the sunset. His sister showed up to commit an assassination that he thwarted, said she'd never be happier after taking a near fatal blow for him, then immediately teleported away. Murray told him he had to find his sister so that she could corroborate what Murray saw, told him she'd help, and he entirely sincerely said he'd do literally anything for Murray if she did. One of his coworkers caused problems for an employee of Hal's and he offered to "take care of him". He killed a man in the sewers, confirmed he was dead, and counted him. He has a list for everything. He was perfectly willing to trade his life for Thjazi and was heartbroken he wasn't able to. He has given a dozen tiny notices that he has truly done some awful things for Thjazi. He lies incredibly well and looks incredibly trustworthy. He changed his face to what he would look like if Thjazi was his dad and went to sleep like that. He doesn't know who he is. None of his friends have ever seen his apartment.
