Do you realise how vain and arrogant 3rd Person Omniscient is? Like, who’s the reader supposed to be? God?
The secret of 3rd person omniscient (speaking as somebody who writes it sometimes) is that it has a narrator, who has an agenda, and controls the flow of information.
The reader may not ever understand who that narrator is and what their agenda entails.
But the writer must.
Which goes back to one of the other important lessons: All Narrators Are Unreliable.
I wanted to double check that “The Cherry on Top” was a short novel or novella and I found this on uphillwriting.org. I think it’s very informative and hopefully you guys will find it useful!
Good friends, this list is wonderful, but it’s missing something!

ICE is opening an office about 15 minutes away from me. Since learning about it, this image has been lurking in my mind and I had to get it
ICE is opening an office about 15 minutes away from me. I initially made this as an idea for a protest sign, but wanted to share it.
THIS IMAGE IS 100% COMPLETELY FREE TO USE! You can reproduce it as stickers, fliers, posters, whatever. I just ask that you do not SELL it.
It is set to PWYW if you want to tip. All tips from this image will be going to my local Food Not Bombs chapter, the Midwest Immigration Bond Fund, and the Indiana Undocumented Youth Alliance.
I made this in poster form for anyone to print and share around your local communities! If you can show your support or spread awareness, please do!
How did I miss this?! This is absolutely amazing, thank you so much!!!!
Physical 5x3.5" vinyl sticker is now available! PWYW, minimum of $2.50 to cover printing and shipping costs! These should be shipped by the end of April!
remember when Elementary adapted the holmes stories and made Watson a woman which removed the gay subtext but then made Moriarty also a woman and gave them weird lesbian subtext. masterful technique. the never-before-seen uno yuri reverse
totally normal 10ft tall portrait of your nemesis’ coworker
in recent events of that zoo losing the clouded leopard, it reminded me of the time i went to a large petting zoo and there was a free roaming little black sheep. cutest little guy i ever saw, soi went to the zookeeper nearby and said ‘i think its really cute how you have a sheep thats allowed to just walk around. ‘ then the zookeepers eyes widened and he grabbed his walky talky and ran
I saw that Leon crop top mod and knew what I had to do. put my guy in it
@changes Tumblr. Get rid of the whole "reblog chains get their own notes" thing. This is TERRIBLE for artists, and anyone who wants to keep track of reblogs/likes/comments.
I don't know why you're even breaking something that works fine? Could you PLEASE put that effort to better use for features users actually want? Here's a couple to get you started:
- A mute option for users (not just block)
- Option to completely hide blacklisted posts (no "this post contains XYZ you've blacklisted", just don't show anything)
- A functioning search bar for our individual blogs
- Organizable portfolio pages for artists, if you're feeling frisky
Tumblr, you've got a good thing going for you. Give us a functioning website, ditch the bigotry (we see you bullying trans users and sex workers), and you've got a fully untapped market of users who are happy to give you money for optional premium services. Look at how happy users were to give Discord money back when they were an actually ethical company. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok have all gone to shit--this is prime opportunity to dominate a market that's STARVING for good social media.
Just listen to us and deliver what we want. It's that easy.
under water cave diving is so fucked. youll hear a story that amounts to "this man had 15 years of cave diving experience. one time they did a dive, got stuck and died" and then you look at the cave they went in and its just

Wait I’m sorry parent/child incest fic?????? Why does that exist? Why do you KNOW that exists?????? What the fuck 🤢
I feel like you can sort of tell how long (or not) someone has existed in fannish spaces by how outraged they get about things like this. Like rings in a tree trunk lol. I've been in so many fandoms. At least one, but often multiple at the same time, since I was a teenager. I've seen just. Everything.
Sex pollen. Mpreg. Incest. Monster fucking. Tentacles. Pairings like Snape/Hermione that would be crazy abusive and illegal if they were real. Wild kinks. The babygirlification of all kinds of villains. So much RPF (the 'I sincerely believe they are secretly a couple' kind and the 'this is fictional but it's fun to imagine they're in love' kind.)
You learn to just scroll past shit you don't like or unfollow people or filter tags. The tldr of fandom is that humans are weird as fuck. And creative, and unhinged, and traumatized, and talented. And amazing. And every single thing that you clutch your pearls about 'well surely someone doesn't want to read/write THAT!' - someone does. Probably lots of people do. And those people are perfectly normal. In their offline lives, they're parents and siblings and they have jobs and friends and they go about their lives and they don't cause any harm. And that's the sticking point. There's this really concerning, frankly highly Evangelical idea that if someone enjoys the wrong kind of fiction, they are obviously a Bad Person. But nothing is that simple, and thought crimes aren't real, and you definitely have some thoughts or ideas that someone else would find fucked up. You don't have to like every kind of fic that exists. I certainly don't. But shaming people for their harmless fantasies about fictional characters is so boring. I saw Goody Proctor enjoying a Toxic Ship! Good for you, I'll alert the pope.
