We love this straight-on (snout-on?) shot of Pigcasso by @laura.k.ackers, the nickname for the pig slide in the #NCMApark - so much so, it's our VisitorGram Tuesday pick for the week! SCULPT. C, its official name, is one in a series of large-scale whimsical sculptures titled Tiovivo (which translates as carousel or merry-go-round) by Spanish artist Jaime Hayon. Happy Independence Day! The Museum galleries will be closed today in observance of the holiday, but our Park is open dawn til dusk. We're also hard at work reinstalling our American gallery, which will be closed to the public for the next few weeks. It will reopen on July 22 with some new ways to look at old favorites. To celebrate both, here's "The Surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown," 1787–94, by John Trumbull, the most celebrated painter of American history.
