I came accross spoilers of Kuroshitsuji Chapter 137 earlier.

Some of you may have guessed this turn of event, but yeah, I think the saddest thing about this chapter is the reason why “Not-Ciel” decided to take the role of “Real-Ciel”.

How sad is it that a 12 years old boy can think of himself as so worthless that he thought it would be better if he’s the one who’s dead? Therefore, he decided to become the “Ciel” that “Real-Ciel” wants to become but cannot because he’s dead.

Consider this.

In previous chapters, we see how Elizabeth, Madam Red, Tanaka, etc crying tears of happiness when they saw “Ciel” returned with Sebastian. Of course, they all thought it was “Real-Ciel” who came back alive, just as “Not-Ciel” planned.

I’m sure they all love him just the same. But imagine how “Not-Ciel” felt at that time, knowing very well that those tears weren’t meant for him.

Sebastian was right. “Not-Ciel” is a liar. He even lies to himself in order to make not only everyone, but also himself believes and able to carry on living as his dead twin brother.

ciel phantomhive freely and bargaining away his soul without fear or hesitation to sebastian in ch 139 because 1. he’s just a baby boy, he’s only 10 years old and doesn’t understand the weight of the price he’s paying and 2. at the time the contract was made ciel had nothing to live for, all his immediate family was dead, the only person who truly understood him, his twin brother, was murdered before his wee eyes, and everyone else important in his life would believe him to be dead once he emerged back into society, so naturally he figured his poor empty, tortured soul would be a small price to pay for revenge, but over the course of the next few years he met people who cared for him and genuinely grew to love him and who he loves in return, and him having to come to terms with the fact that suddenly his life has meaning and he’s worthy of love and happiness which are things he never thought he would live long enough to find causes him to realize that his soul is worth saving and he may actually regret and fear handing it over to the devil? feels bad scoob
