Technology exists to allow those from M1 and G-class (such as Earth) planets to visit those who diverge significantly more easily, in the form of temperature regulator chips embedded under the skin and gravity equalizer bracelets. weftblocks residences are often hand-knit structures, literally. exterior walls and rooftops are semi-permeable knitted bio-fiber (weather-proofed with integrated bio-tech), designed in communal circular formations. individual units bloom out from central hearths, where Kin cook, sit, and engage in sensory recalibration therapy. each unit recognizes its occupants tactile signature and will shift shape accordingly.

height 6'7" weight 310 lbs, most of which is skeletal density, as iro is an M4 planet (4 times the gravity of earth) appearance the kin wear primarily knitted clothing, hand-made, typically by their friends and family. neal is a solid mass of muscle, and appears initially imperious and intimidating, and his lack of up-front emotion can make it seem that he is those things. but kindnesses can be seen if searched-for. warmth in his eyes, fondness curving his lips. personality stern, pensive, but overlaid in tenderness for his people and his accordances. a boy never permitted to grow or mature from infancy, who could not so much as map a twitch to his finger internally before the Fault. now in adulthood he strives to be that which he did not have, for others. most particularly mavi-899, his own-heart. species the kin are an emergent species of networked iro corporate congress ECCs - emotionally calibrated constructs. these were implanted with a chip in infancy which erased their free will, networked them together, and introduced programmable matter into their DNA structure. this makes them bigger, faster and stronger than average humanoids.

history neal was born on kaewesi-7, a facility which produced ECCs for the corporate congress's extermination campaign of laile. he was engineered as a soldier, and participated in the genocide of the runi people without conscious volition. at age 20, he suffered from a chip grounding fault mid-combat which abruptly restored his free will. he launched himself out of his damaged ship toward the incoming v'shar vessel, and advised the captain to warp out immediately, as the remaining ECCs were planning on destroying it. at that time, neal relocated to yorktown station, and began the process of integration into federation life as a tactical track student of the satellite starfleet academy campus. during his sophomore year, he did a deep-dive into his chip in order to breach the Firewall and prevent liabilities. during this time, he accessed the progenitor code of the ECC and recalled 2,000 former ECC units to mckinley via warp telegraph, and placed them in temporary standby. they began looking for units with similar chip grounding faults and awakening them. at the same time the iro corporate congress and the ECCs were being questioned by the federation council with regard to the war crimes of laile. during his junior year, when the federation picks up a rogue ECC signature from kaewesi-7, neal is assigned to investigate it along with one of the newly-liberated ECC units from orbit, a 5 year old unit named :: MAVI-8673 :: on stardate 2396.234. neal returned to the burn-grid where he was born, and found an abandoned, half-sentient recursion loop slowly going mad. neal interfaced with its systems with his newly liberated chip, and was able to link every single ECC ever created into a new neural network. at this moment, the Kin are forged.

mavi becomes :: MAVI-899 :: and attends an interstellar school on betazed. small, rehabilitative, intended for teaching traumatized children very slowly and with many hugs. he draws pictures of the moon, puff-cakes, the moon again (he has four in his pocket--but :: NEAL-899 :: has promised him a fifth). --and his parent-classes with the correct number of waves and curls to their hair. he loses a friend when he speaks candidly about the burn grid - the place where iro destroyed their failures. the place that he was awoken. he learns 'tier II emotional discretion' and learns to share the Network instead.

during this quiescent period, neal and kallie pursue legal accordance, similar to a bound executor on earth. they are the other's person, it is that simple.
