Anyone who knows me personally knows of my love of children, but very few know how crazy I am about them! (Embarrassing admission: I have a folder on my computer of things I want to do with my kids, including toy ideas and experiences, etc.) 

Here is one of the reduce, reuse, recycling ideas that I came across.

Like many who went to public school, I remember how in my classes, we used to glue the Popsicle sticks together for a more permanent hold, but once they were created, they were tossed or ignored for ages. Why not do something like this so that we can dismantle and reuse? Makes for hours upon hours of fun without having to wait to restock them.

(Re)Grow your own Green Onions! 

Not really a home project, but something I find useful. If you get green onions, don't throw away the bulbs! If you plant them in a cup and water them, they'll regrow so you don't have to buy new ones!

As a person who just recently got a puppy, I adore this idea, but I have a caution. If you're not going to leave the bottom drawer open all day, you'll need another spot to set out a water bowl. You should not leave your dog without water for too long, especially during the summer months. 

Otherwise, this is a really neat idea for people like me who are strapped for space in an apartment. It keeps the dog food all together, neat and out of the way. This is especially great when you babysit so that you can close it up and the little ones aren't the wiser. 

I'm going to be doing this myself as soon as the puppy gets a little taller, but I am already browsing for a cheap (not in quality, but price), but cute used dresser unit of appropriate size to renew for this project.

Simple, but absolutely adorable! 

I would not recommend using a family heirloom to do this, but little pieces similar to this one go for $10 at most at your local Good Will or flea market! It's a cute piece for those little corners that are strapped for space, like in a small bathroom, where you could use some shelf-space. 

Make sure you anchor it to the wall!

A cute way to hide that unappealing mass of plug-ins and keep the cables organized when there's not much space, such as on a counter. Reuse an old shoe box, decorate to your preferences, thread the cords from inside out and seal it in. 

There have been a few people who scream "fire-hazard" at this, so, as always, please be cautious about frayed electrical cords!

This is one I am tedious to post, largely because it could go either cute or gaudy very fast, but I'll leave it to your capable discretion! It's your house, not mine! 

This is a simple and cheap way to craft a few little sculpture pieces to spruce up a room. Make sure to use spray paint for plastics (yes, it comes in such metallic shades or a variety of other colors, if you so choose) if you're working on plastics. 

I've also seen people do this to fake fruit for a bowl, or pine-cones during the Holiday Season and it turned out really cute!

Give new life to old sweaters in the form of throw pillows! 

This DIY idea is actually one I did myself several years ago and they turned out adorable - up until the point that a dog I was babysitting tore into one. Super easy and they last well! 

One thing to remember is not to stretch the material over the pillow when deciding where you'll need to sew. Let it be relaxed. If you stretch it, the sweater will pull at the buttons (as you can see in the second photo) and look unseemly, just like if you were to wear a sweater a few times too small. 

If you don't have any sweaters you're willing to spare for such an activity, you can always find some at your local Good Will! Just consider washing them well first.
