Really...? How was that determined to be the case? I have heard that which version someone sees seems to be based on whether they're on mobile or PC, but I don't see how the different versions would impact game performance, especially since they didn't have two different versions of the scene for the other regions (which would, presumably, have the same performance issue, if that was the issue)?
I thought I'd chime in with what anonymous put here with what myself and other dataminers are suspecting:
- The PC version of P5X (Global&JP) holds the files for both version of the cutscene. The one from the CN/TW/KR servers are in the 'bin' folder, which used to be used to hold a vast majority of the game's files before the PC client was changed and updated.
- The one featured in Global/JP is in a folder called OuterPackage, which used to hold just *some* update files and other stuff i'm not 100% sure of. However, with the change in the PC client, most of the contents of the bin folder (that are game files) was moved there.
- From the looks of it, this ultimately appears to be a bug. It's possible that the mobile version of the game is loading the wrong version when it's supposed to load the one you see on PC. I submitted to SEGA a report of this bug and got this back:
While the wording is vague and pretty generic, the message still conveys that they were not aware of this issue and are looking into it

A note about the man named Rui (name reading confirmed in voice lines) that appears in Shouki's Synergy- his 3D model has the same last name as Kei Akashi (that is to say, though it's not revealed within the game, his full name seems to be Rui Akashi).
When you look at their models side-by-side (sorry, I wanted an image of Akashi without his glasses, haha), they do appear to largely be the same model, just slightly modified and recolored. And, within Shouki's Synergy, Rui mentions he had a brother who was a criminal before he died, but the rest of the family has still been receiving the public's backlash (hence his fear when one of Shouki's fans took out her camera for a picture).
All this to say, I think it's safe to assume that Rui is indeed intended to be (Kei) Akashi's brother, and that wasn't just a leftover detail or anything! Which is a neat choice, if you ask me.
Nothing really indicates whether he's a twin brother. This is just my speculation here, so forgive me: Akashi, at the very least, has to have graduated college. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get the job he did because that requires a degree. Now this could be a translation error on the part of the machine translation, but Rui mentions in a rank about how Akashi is dead and how the media has been following them + harassing them. One of the things he laments is how he's unable to get a part-time job while he's in university. If this is the correct translation, that'd mean that Rui is in currently in university
What are your thoughts, p5x-theories? I'm not 100% sure if that translation is correct, so I want to know your thoughts
I do like the idea of Rui being Akashi's twin brother though

Lowkey I was debating on wolf or fox for Katayama bc I wanted her to be a canine but I didn't know which then I remembered the ever so beautiful and amazing maned wolf, which is neither of those but it's own species (commonly confused for them tho rip) same exact thing I did when choosing an animal for my Halara design lmao,, to add on they're an albino so I kinda came full circle here making her a melanistic one lol

Methinks Akashi here wants to segregate the school on top of limiting teacher and student interaction,, as it's very mixed but he has inter-species relationship issues because of his own existence(like Melon 😛) and targets Katayama the most since she's a seemingly scary carnivore so it'd be easier to claim she wants to hurt her students(even though maned wolves are omnivores and mostly eat fruits yum) his fear-mongering and rage-baiting is very successful 😔
Also for the sake of angst Riko's mom would've been devoured by a carnivore, most likely a canine, just to add more on top of why she keeps rejecting Katayama's help, since her dad would tell her not to hang out with dogs </3 (instructions unclear she befriends two of them and weird dog-like cat oops)
and uh these iconic-ish scenes ig,, Nyagisa would definitely investigate who almost hit him on the train from the start, and at one point would suspect it to be Shun bc all he saw in the moment was a blue canine so scary.. closest we get to the murder mystery arc in actual beastars btw cause no one is dying in this game except in the visions*tm help 😭 and Akashi's attack on Riko is the rare instance I'll keep it the same as canon,, bro is too cowardly to actually commit a devouring L bozo
So much more I want to say and discuss about them but I'll probably wait till this arc drops in Eng so I can refresh my mind bc damn did I miss some things 💀 like yamagoshi and masa are in-fact related help I'm stupid ,, not changing their species though fuck it he's adopted now whoops
