I did Airi? As well, she's a Shikoku dog which are Nihon ken like the Hokkaido (what I made Motoha 🐕) If you somehow missed it Aran and her sister are actually step-siblings :p plus with the pts pointing out she looks more like Motoha it only makes since to make her a completely different animal
Sheep and dogs have a cute relationship I think,, ik Shikokus aren't shepherds but I feel like she would still want to protect Aran all the same,,, before she disowns their family name anyways😭
Ermmm as for Aran actually I was struggling bad to pick out an animal for her,, but I decided to stick with sheep in the end 🐑 harmless little guys... I can just say she dyed her wool pink 2 I didn't even have to find naturally red haired animals weow sheep can just be anything

Manaka is a ring-tailed/indri lemur! I was going to keep her the same species as her grandma but thought it would be fun to add a different kind of lemur in there too :3
Zebra Mayumi solely because I'm projecting EDS onto her and I've always associated zebras with this condition, but she has black and white hair too which fits! Turbo also holds a checkered flag lol I'm sure she's an eyesore with both squares and stripes in her design. RIP her joints though

Also omg for the clothes thing if u don't know birds in beastars can fly? Somehow? So I'd imagine anyways, ignoring their current anatomy that wouldn't realistically let them do so💀, that they would usually wear lighter clothing to make flying easier, esp if they need to flee an emergency, erm do with that as u will
Look I did it,, Mio dog and Runa wolp (if you saw her before nuh uh)
Pretty simple explanation this time Mio's a firefighter so her being a dalmatian feels like a no brainer (plus the moles by her eye remind me of their spots)
She's a long haired one too,, so I can justify her hairstyle ig,,, but even so ima be honest i have no idea whats going on with her ponytail💔 her spots are flame shaped for funnies :3
As for how she sees her brother in wonder (who's a cat here) uhh her brother would've been a liver(red) dalmatian with spots in similar places to nagisa's own fur patterns, plus with nagisa acting more like a dog (thanks to runa and motoha💀) it's enough for her to project onto
Runa grey wolf because we like using animals for transgender allegories 🏳️⚧️🔥 but also I already used an obvious pick with mio I gotta be diverse and throw wild ones out there man
She dyes her fur orange(when working as shichi-kun) and she forced a kink into her tail so it appears curved (her spine is so cooked but she stays silly :p)
The idea is that because of the lack of desires no akitas really wanted to be the shichi-kun mascot actor(??) But Runa really wanted to and idk whoever was hiring was like what the hell sure we'll hire the wolf we don't have the will to say no😭
Fun fact she's the reason I even made a beastars au in the first place 🐕 I had some anthro designs done before then but they weren't tied to this universe,, but I drew her as a wolf and was like woa.,, grey wolf,, just like legoshi beastars 😯⁉️ and now I am here </3

The inspiration was gothic cowboy if I may be honest,,, and by that I mean cowboy clothes but black 😭 it's fire though I helped my parents decorate their room with a gothic western theme can't lie the aesthetic goes hard
No real reason I did this for Soy other then to add some similarity to the other theives,, Wonder, Wind, and Cattle have black/red prominent in their designs I think it'd be cool if Closer and Soy also matched with them <3
Oh yea I kept the tomahawk on his belt that's like his most unique design aspect I feel,, and kept the bandana ofc (his hat is also slightly changed bc I struggled to draw it,, it looks stupid but at least his little ears have room lol) the weird strands coming from his back are a shawl now,, my ice guy needs a blanket so he doesn't freeze 😌
Not really part of the design but after looking over the lore of Beastars again I found out soy products are what most carnivores eat,, so this helps add to his code name choice bc not only is the word soy cool to him lol it's also like one of the maim things keeping society together,, (people are so mean about his name jeez💀)
Bro wants his ramen to cure devourings how heartwarming<3 methinks that's the goal of Masa and Pop's ramen shops too,, a place where carnivores can eat yummy food without wanting to eat someone(stealing from raincode where the ramen is magical ig and gives the same nutrients as actual meat bc it's funny)
I will get back to this,, think once I finish the first arc I'll doodle the palace ruler and scenes from it then give more lore dumps and move on to the second arc,, hopefully I can get the time artfight kicking my ass 💔
I know it's way too early to ask, but for that Beastars x P5X, but what sort of animal are you considering for Aran?
Ooh honestly I've been meaning to address this! If it can work with her character I'd want to make her some type of sheep 🐑 to balance out the Phantom Thieves mostly, since they're a bit more carni/omnivore leaning as of now oops lol
Any herbivore could work tbf but I think a sheep would be pretty cute,, or a llama/alpaca even! Honestly anything fluffy that's white so I could justify her fur being pink due to dye,, but yea I'll wait for her full story to be revealed incase there's a better choice to be made 😌

Ehm honestly I know a lion probably makes more sense for Shimotsuna, with her palace theme(royalty) and her boss design being the myrmecoleon,,, but a giant anteater stuck out to me more I'm sorry, they are so fucking freaky<3, and in this au anyways I've said herbivores have more control/presence in the media and while anteaters are still carnivores they only eat bug so i mean close enough :p also if she was a lion it'd be kinda crazy to have a dog for her bodyguard like. I think you could handle yourself lol.. but back to the palace thing it's all ant themed too, and now this might be a shocker but... anteaters eat ants 🤯 she views her vicitims/workers as her literal food (crazy work)
Doberman Daichi doesn't even need to be explained lol they depicted him as one in official art, I will talk about his appearance regardless though bc i am cooking 🐕 anyways in dobermans there's a breed standard of docked tails and cropped ears, and I'd imagine these would still apply in a beastars universe bc they already did some crazy shit with dogs(eugenics 💀) when Daichi joined the idol agency they had him conform to the standard #rip back in the day though when he played with Shoki he'd have the floppy ears and long tail🥺 when Shimotsuna hires him as a bodyguard she has him in either muzzles or gentle leaders depending if she's scared he'll eat her or not </3 my man does not have any agency save him omg 🙏
Anyways Luce now we all cheer yay,, I tried drawing him for his birthday but his pose looks stupid help me 😭
Funnily though I was about to redesign his fit like I did with Soy so it would fit in with the others but gave up due to art block (only for the new trailer drop hours later where he got a dark colored outfit lmao) he is allowed to stand out in white ig because silly <3 we're changing Closer next though omg

Now I'm going on a ramble about his antlers 🦌 forgot if I stated this before but when Luce first awakened his antlers fell off (prematurely but the rush of the awakening tossed those mfs off 💔) and afterwards he started embracing his lynx side more while his antlers were growing back,, and by the time of their final infiltration of Shimotsuna's palace they have grown back with the velvet outer layer beginning to tear off (he looks so raw you agree) also he has whiskers now :3
Him and Closer probably were taking bites of it because they're freaks 😔 (deer do actually eat their velvet to regain the vitamins in it yum) the whole process in general does not hurt them though yay do not fret the bloody appearance,, after they finish the palace only the bone would be left bc again the heat of battle or whatever took it all off #awesome
Last thing but like Melon beastars he kinda becomes more kitty like his mama 🩷 his fangs are more pronounced and his claws are sharper ooh so scary,, maybe even more lynx stripes/spots appear on his fur too,, but unlike Melon he doesn't mind or hate himself for it bc he loves both his parents and they love him<333
Ayaka and Masaki in my p5xbeastars au joy,,, no reason for drawing them other than I felt kinda bad I haven't done much with them (and probably won't again as they aren't too relevant here💔)

Raven Kira 😛 his trailer song name is Ravenbill Requiem I believe,, plus the whole plague doctor aesthetic I mean ofc he's a corvid bro,, he has piebaldism though because I wanted his mole to be visible lol, and maybe it was the colder weather or my recent listening of London after midnight songs but something overcame me and I had to give him a skull pattern on his left side 🥀🥀 I try to keep these designs more realistic and not use color mutations to much but,,, he looks so cool i couldn't not do it🥺
I think it could work with his whole researching desires thing though,, when playing against carnivores in the arcade he keeps to their left so they think they're just playing against an unsuspecting bird, but with herbivores he plays on the right side to freak them out (he's trying to see if carnivores will pity him and if herbivores won't even put up a fight from fear) and he'd be correct in these assumptions because yea 💔💔 no one gaf anymore
The instinct to live on both sides would be practically nonexistent,, carnivores don't really want to eat anyone because it's too much of a hassle in their minds and herbivores are too scared and just like bruh take me out already 😔 the phantoms/menaces would mostly be carnivores that DO have the desire to eat/main however, and herbivores watching these videos would get radicalized to start hating on them yayy everyone either not giving a fuck or hating 💜

Indri Lemur Chizuko because I wanted her and Manaka to be animals that sing to/with their families, and I found out these guys do exactly that! Mostly warning calls I believe but it works here,, silly musical grandma we love her<333 wanted them be herbivores too for story reasons I can hopefully explain later,,
Pigeon Minami because of her whole angel thing,, I wanted her to be fancy looking so I took inspiration from the Nun pigeon,, they look cute and also have a funny mohawk thing,, sorry gang she loses her ponytail for it(also want her to juxtapose Kira who will be a raven,, medical birbs but one is a friendly herbivore and the other has eyeball-shaking tendencies smh)
ehmm Sambar Deer Yumi because I associate deers with alcohol/wine out of all animals,, they can get "drunk" off of fermented fruits so I mean,,, fun fact these ones are commonly preyed upon by bengal tigers and asiatic lions(yaoling and leo in my au btw,, that new years party is gonna go crazy lmaoo)
I also found out they have scent glands on their neck?? I'm not sure why I couldn't find much information on that but here I'll say she used it to attract carnivores to where she worked before going to Shibuya and working in a herbivore-only bar, where she now uses it to attract herbivore customers idk(I also have a lore thing for this but uhh that's for later)
Lastly Bengal Cat Ayaka! Specifically a bengal mixed with a burmese cat,, they're both some of the loudest/most vocal cats so yea, singing kitty cat :3
And bonus Yaoling because I wasn't happy with how I first drew her,, probably cause she was the first lol so I didn't really have the experience yet

Lowkey I was debating on wolf or fox for Katayama bc I wanted her to be a canine but I didn't know which then I remembered the ever so beautiful and amazing maned wolf, which is neither of those but it's own species (commonly confused for them tho rip) same exact thing I did when choosing an animal for my Halara design lmao,, to add on they're an albino so I kinda came full circle here making her a melanistic one lol
Akashi is actually Melon beastars?!? they have a similar ideology (?) With the whole eat or be eaten thing, and are kinda off the hook 💔 so he's a carni/herbi hybrid bless give that man even more problems (he pretends to be just a rat uhh stole Melon's flow and gave him a mask) does this so the school staff and students trust bc aww innocent rat he would never kill anyone 🥺 (do they know) he also paints his shedded tail skin to look like a rat tail idk?? And wears it to conceal his snake side so deceitful
I hope he looks off-putting 🙏🙏 if it's too feline sorry but I can never unsee snakes having the :3 face I had to include it here,, also the dean guy is here .I forgot his name uh guinea pig bc Akashi uses him yay,, he is very pathetic had to be a small herbivore ofc
Methinks Akashi here wants to segregate the school on top of limiting teacher and student interaction,, as it's very mixed but he has inter-species relationship issues because of his own existence(like Melon 😛) and targets Katayama the most since she's a seemingly scary carnivore so it'd be easier to claim she wants to hurt her students(even though maned wolves are omnivores and mostly eat fruits yum) his fear-mongering and rage-baiting is very successful 😔
Also for the sake of angst Riko's mom would've been devoured by a carnivore, most likely a canine, just to add more on top of why she keeps rejecting Katayama's help, since her dad would tell her not to hang out with dogs </3 (instructions unclear she befriends two of them and weird dog-like cat oops)
and uh these iconic-ish scenes ig,, Nyagisa would definitely investigate who almost hit him on the train from the start, and at one point would suspect it to be Shun bc all he saw in the moment was a blue canine so scary.. closest we get to the murder mystery arc in actual beastars btw cause no one is dying in this game except in the visions*tm help 😭 and Akashi's attack on Riko is the rare instance I'll keep it the same as canon,, bro is too cowardly to actually commit a devouring L bozo

Boar miyazawa idk,, I've been Saw-pilled lately so pigs are on the mind 🐖 It works though,, they're usually seen as ugly animals(sad why so mean) so him being one here just makes his desire of being a movie star all the more of a pipedream 😔 at least he gets the edge in food reviews bc boars have a varied diet
Also methinks Kokoro will be trying to brew disharmony between the carnivores and herbivores of the land (for ocean creature world domination hell yea) and uses Miyazawa to do this
Carnivores in Beastars seem to be in the spotlight of media/industries more, whereas herbivores could only hope to be famous 💔 but with Miyazawa running his own blog/channel he's able to slowly build a community of herbivores, and targets carnivore-owned restaurants to take them down rip (probably spreading lies that they use real meat or don't serve herbi customers with respect)
In addition the grindmemypain app whatever thing is also used by Kokoro to make everyone more hateful of carnivores by highlighting the bad ones 😮 these websites/online communities give herbivores the voice to speak up against carnis,,, you definitely don't want to be labeled as a menace/phantom </3
Ehmm for Yamagoshi and Masa I wanted them both to be raccoon dogs cause I got confused with the translations and thought they were related 💀 but after playing the global yea I realized this was not the case oop,, it's okay though I also remembered Yamagoshi is from Zoshigaya and not Shinjuku,, which I want more feline(-ish) characters living in anyways (wonder, kayo, chatai,,) so striped hyena for him!
and Soy deserves a cani-found family I think,, masa, katayama, closer,, yamagoshi and wonder in spirit(trust nyagisa is just like one of those cats raised by dogs and they call hyenas canines in beastars anyways)

Asian black bear kiuchi you agree,, Closer in this au is a bear hunting dog so I thought it'd be silly to make the palace ruler she faces a bear (honestly I'm just inspired by the ginga series pff)
They look so weird though I hope I conveyed both their face shape and his,,, while also trying to semi-imitate the beastars artstyle(riz is built so weirdly bro 😭 I found there was an Asian black bear in the manga though godbless he keeps the big fluffy neck they have)
Oh yea during his time as a baseball player he'd be on the muscle suppressants explaining his poor performance,, instead of making up that he had an injury his coach or whoever would be truthful and say it's pills 😛 but he still has a blow to his ego and loses his profession like in canon L bozo (he doesn't take the suppressants as a business man though, making his attacks more horrifying yikes)
Crazy but stay with me, Tomoko loses her arm for a quick sec when he rams into her,, it happens in Beastars where a carnivore effortlessly ripped his friend's arm off 💀 it was an accident if you'll believe it,, so the police wouldn't care much here bc "haha whoops that justs happens if you aren't careful oh well we'll give you a slap on the wrist and be on our way" ☺️ even though Kiuchi's attack was very much was not an accident 😔 the arm would be reattached just fine but yea she really cannot go back to playing baseball her nerves would be mad messed up owies
Huge thing I forgot in the bad ending vision(?) Nyagisa gets about the mother and child being pushed down the stairs, Kiuchi would actually devour them,, then he could no longer be ignored by the police since devourings are big no nos☝️

Kiyoshi and Tomoko were hell it took me forever to come up with animals for em,, I knew I wanted them to be herbivores but my brain though of nothing 🥀 finally settled on field mouse and harlequin rabbit ! Key can have a cat and mouse thing with Wonder and Moko a dog and bunny thing with Closer (I actually had a bunny and it was friends with my dog,, very cute dynamic) also Tomoko may or may not get her shoulder mauled by Kiuchi I gotta have a devouring somewhere sorry rip
Riddle and Bui were easy to choose for yay,, border collies are the most intelligent dog so I feel that fits with Haruna being very smart at a young age,, and for Yui you already know 😌 She yearns to be silly bunny but is tragic perturbed hare very sad
Side tangent on headcanons for her I'm so normal about Musubi 😊 in this au she'd actually prefer vegan alternatives intended for carnivores(like the soy burgers), instead of just having a salad like a normal herbivore (she craves the artificial). She wouldn't have a fear of carnivores, just gets annoyed for not being taken seriously by her coworkers like Seben from beastars smh. I feel like the felines should make sense,, Rin Okyann and Leon are so cat coded already,,, Here Yaoling is a bengal tiger, Kayo is an leopard(took the colors from her gyaru outift!) and Leo is a leopon? (unsure how much leopard he would be because idk if they changed how closely related he is to Kayo) also with their family being close to Wonder's it works extra well that they're felines just like him (and yaoling probably latches onto him since they're both red and stripped cats lol)
Mont and Fleuret are birds,,, they are wlw & mlm solidarity in my heart so I need them to match kinda 💜 unlike Shoki I didn't make Kotone a hybrid,, she's just both subspecies of Tundra Swan,, since I think her being half French is barely relevant to her story anyways. Seiji is a Rook because I wanted him to be some sort of corvid but I don't want to add to the Akechi allegations </3
Uhnmm and Yuki,,, she's a leucistic burmese python who is the clone of her mother,, pythons are asexual icons I kinda had to do it because she is literally the ace flag,, she doesn't look like Yukimi much though because I can't put hair on a reptile so sorry, I gave her glasses and the turtleneck from her old sprite though 🥹 changed her to a Kiga student since Kosei isn't a thing in p5x anymore,,

Designs for my au🫡 somewhat long ramble below abt the animal choices if you care,,
Okayy so I tried to pick animals that were in Japan but also that had a connection with the origin of their persona if possible, and that also kinda represented their social standing like it would in Beastars (eg carnivores except domestic ones are feared)
Wonder and Arai aren't actually mixbreeds but rather a Bobtail cat and Spitz dog in general, those were my references though, because I'd imagine in the beastars universe domestic animals aren't as defined as ours for reasons💀 They're a dog and cat bc fun duo but also Arai is kinda popular? And I don't think anyone hates Wonder so yea no fear of their species here
Unlike with Shun 💔 he's a Coydog kinda, since golden jackals are more like coyotes than jackals, and uhh I went husky bc I found out they actually bred a different kind of laika with the golden jackals. His mom would be the husky, he's only viewed for his more wild part though rip it definitely made the altercation with Miyazawa worse
Riko has the cleanest reputation out of them all, just a chill herbivore yay. I actually searched for animals associated with plums and found that the Sika deer are also called "plum blossom deer" in Chinese from their spots(which they keep into adulthood!) I struggled with coloring her though omg I see why they made em a solid color in beastars rip
And lastly Shoki, ofc he had to step up the hybrid game, his mother was the Lynx with his father being the deer, he has whiskers, ear and cheek tufts, and claws from the Lynx side but trims those down and even covers his nails sad, he isn't shameful of being a hybrid and wishes to show off his feline features more but evil lady said no smh, once he meets the gang he starts expressing his full self though yay!! Also ignore how dumb his feral version looks you try combining a feline and deer coherently 😭
