Confusion and hurt wash over Eddie’s face as Buck quickly continues, “We uh, we work at the same station! We need to report if anything’s happening between us. You know, chain of command.”

Eddie’s mouth ticks up as a breathy laugh leaves it, “Fuck chain of command,” he says pulling Buck back in.

i think eddie has been chomping at the bit to claim buck publicly and it was actually sweet torture that he finally had the opportunity in 9.13 but it was too dangerous to do more than go along with the existing assumption. and now buck is doing what he does worst aka pretending to be fine and eddie sees right through it but nobody's listening to him, and he gets so frustrated he says "jesus christ, they didn't believe you were in trouble in new mexico either, but at least they knew you were mine."

buck has been borderline obsessed with getting a sign from bobby since bobby's death. in 8x17, he is essentially begging for it when the earthquake happens (the same earthquake that leads to the building collapse which causes eddie to miss his flight to texas and decide to move back to LA). in 9x05, buck thought the snickerdoodles' missing ingredient was a sign from bobby, but it was just the squatter (which was very symbolic of buck feeling out of place after moving out of eddie's house). now in 9x12, buck finally got the sign he has been asking for. he realized bobby was absolutely sure that eddie would fight to come back home. to the 118. and to buck. bobby recruited eddie to be buck's partner in 2x01, and once again, bobby brought buck and eddie back together as partners in 9x12. only this time, it's from the grave. all along, buck has wanted a sign from bobby to show him how he is supposed to do this without bobby. and of course, every sign keeps pointing to eddie

yes of course it rocks that eddie spent $2,500 plus maddie's fee to avoid going on a date with some random woman but also can we take a moment to appreciate the beautiful symbolism of him choosing himself. and betting on himself. and placing value on himself without needing or wanting external validation after a whole lifetime of trying to live up to everyone else's expectations and beating himself up for not being who people want him to be #myeddie......

When someone asks me what my favorite on screen tv kiss is, but it’s actually the on screen kiss I imagined after seeing the bts videos of the Buddie U-Haul scene. So I just say Nick and Jess from New Girl and move on with my day.

After buddie goes canon, I need every cast and crew member, every writer and director, Tim, the producers, heck even the network executives to do a full series commentary and tell me every moment that was foreshadowing. Every color choice in clothing and lighting, every minute expression choice and weighted look, every set piece and location, every scripted line or improvisation, EVERY SINGLE THING that was a hint to buddie canon. Because I need to know. I need to know if we were right. I need undeniable proof that we weren’t going through a collective psychosis. I need something to show my friends that all my ted talks and theories, the miniscule details I pointed to as confirmation of buddie canon were actually real and I wasn’t just a girl holding out hope.

Do the owners of this motel realize the level of business they are about to receive if it’s in fact the site of buddie canon?

Here’s the thing if we are wrapping up Eddie’s trauma with bows, and showing how he’s grown and come to terms with his PTSD, and his relationship with death, and his catholic guilt, then what’s next?

What new trauma awaits Eddie Diaz? These are his core defining traumas, and if they are fixed and finished, what’s left in the character study?

UNLESS

There’s a secret fourth trauma.

One that hasn’t been revealed to the audience, one that maybe Eddie himself has pushed so far down he doesn’t even realize is waiting to surface.

Maybe Eddie working through all of his surface level trauma leaves an opening for underlying, old wounds to reappear.

Or maybe Eddie will be perfect. And then maybe Eddie will find the perfect woman to love him. And maybe she will check all the boxes she’s supposed to check. And maybe it will feel different this time. Maybe he will actually love her back.
