Pete Hegseth stepped away from Princeton — one of the greatest opportunities America can place in front of you — and chose the battlefield instead. Marco Rubio grew up watching his father work behind a bar while his mother cleaned other people’s hotel rooms — and chose to fight so that no American family would ever have to feel that powerless again.
Two completely different beginnings. Two completely different worlds. One man walked away from everything comfort could offer. One man created his future from absolutely nothing. And today, they sit at the same table. Secretary of Defense. Secretary of State. Standing side by side. Carrying America forward together.
My wife heard me say this tonight and became completely silent. Then she said — one man had everything and willingly gave it up. The other had nothing and built everything himself. And somehow, both ended up in the same place, choosing the same purpose.
