A litte light along the way, my friend Stephen and I went to a paper lotus lantern making workshop in Toronto at @RedPepperSpectacleArts. You can’t really get this paper anywhere. They had to order it from a temple that specifically makes them for festivals and occassions.

Not a bad way to spend $25 and spend some time with cool people who had so many stories to tell. Also got to try out Frites in Kensington Market!

A first for someone else Toronto Comic Con 2016. Okay, technically it was my first time going there too but I've been to cons before so it was more exciting to see how Eric thought the whole thing was. We went on the Sunday and honestly didn't get too much time to experience the whole shebang. I can't really comment on it other than had a nice time browsing through the art and we purchased a print from this one artist, ____. We talked to him at length and yeah, good times. I also had to modify this photo that I took of him almost high fiving the Han Solo mold while we were there.

Back to School + Flying

Hello friends and family and the internet’s wandering children!

Back to blogging - starting with I’m doing two semi-drastic things. One being I am going back to school and the other that I’m doing that in Vancouver. It’s been one heck of a year trying to reclaim myself and what I should or ought to be doing. Growing older and closer to that quarter century mark really makes me feel the wheels of life need to start turning. 

I haven’t really felt the kiss of luck when it came to an animation related job so I’m going to do something about it! By attending..... here

focusing on something that’s pretty high in demand right now. UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience), if you aren’t sure what that is, you can check it out here.

I’m in the midst of trying to figure out how to uproot my life here in Ontario and move it over to the west coast. It was definitely different from the idea of visiting for two weeks, but here I am a little nervous, excited for a second try at school since I felt a lot of regret about my college education. (The shortcomings I faced a student then...)

More trials, tribulations and postings upcoming on the whole endeavor!

I can’t get over how unimaginably true this is. If I took away all the things that don’t quite fit I am probably just a little bit happier, if only for the fact that you aren’t even mine for these traits to be useful in pleasing you.

Food for the Brain December 2015? Something like that I had this urge to play board games and man, oh, man I had some friends who came through for me on this.

Curtis was in town and we met up at the The Brain Bar where we had these sandwich panini things. As you can tell, this place is pretty cozy and hip. If I lived downtown I might've frequented it more but to make the 20 minute trip + parking, engh.

We both agreed my sandwich better. (I do enjoy a random victory when it comes to food).

FUN FACT At the tricot show we both bought shirts that were same design but inverted. (mine black, his white) I suppose we were of the same mind once again because we both wore our shirts that day, hahah. MATCHING. It was perfect. 'Cept Curty was more like "Wow, embarrassing," jokingly of course. I think.

PART II: Using the Brain

So this board game affair with good college friends lead to the trial of a couple new games such as Betrayal at the House on the Hill and Exploding Kittens and this rudimentary teeny plastic chair stacking game. When more people showed up we trying out "Personally Incorrect" which is like this CAH rip off and finally Things in a Box. Where near the end we invited the owner of the café (Mancala Monk) Matt to join us.

Was a blast, would do it again ( have done it again ) and will continue to feed into the downward money sucking hole that is quality board games for quality time. Okay, I threw up a little in my mouth too.

Curtis has to leave early cause he was feeling sick, too bad he couldn't get in on the photo!

KOREAN / FRENCH Homemade Bibimbap & Crepes My cousin Alex and I are totally obsessed with Korean culture and decided to try making our own bibimbap. I know we were missing the stone bowls to really perfect that crunchy rice at the bottom but holy, hot damn it was pretty good without! I think the spoons we used are actually some sort of serving spoon too, haha.

And for desert cause we're fat (but we didn't finish the bibimbap we made, these Corel bowls have cool lids so y'know got lunch for tomorrow) we made crepes with ice cream, strawberries, bananas, chocolate sauce and strawberry pocky bits.

Japanese Tunes In October 2015 with my newly made friend Curtis in tow we set off for Toronto to watch a three-piece girl math rock band, tricot (tree-koh) play at Lee's Palace. It was my first show there and boy did they kill it too!

I also can't remember WHY I said I would, but I promised him baked goods. This is the kind of friend I am, madeleines and oatmeal raisin cookies.

With only weeks in between I also saw with my junior in school Zadia, ONE OK ROCK at the Danforth Music Hall.

OO BABY, let me tell you I was hoarse, sweaty and beyond pleased attending this show! ALL THE MONEY WELL SPENT, too bad the freaking merch lines were so long.

Adding Activity In June 2016, I participated in a collective sports event that was hosted in part by the City of Hamilton and SportsHamilton to do a corporate challenge that gathered it's employees to formulate teams across our company and participate in physical trials.

I didn't get a chance to take too many photos, we came in 4th! I just liked I was able to participate in this, the first city-wide thing I've done in the past eight years of my employment with the city, aha.

The two events photograph features a time-based shooting range with basketballs and multi exit net. We beat the female team, by a few baskets and the guys just shirked by with 1 more basket.

The second was volleyball that asked two players per towerl to launch the volleyball to pass and to cross the net. It had boundaries and had to use a closing the towel to catch / lock the ball. It was pretty neat to see this variation! Next family outing for suuuure.

A FIRST IN LIFE! Sometime in April 2016 I went with Eric to this new brewery in Dundas, site which was renovated from an old curling snad skating rink > http://lagershed.com/

This was the first paddle of beer I had ever had. I am not particularly a lightweight but alcohol hits anyone if you drink it fast enough and in large volumes your body is not used to. (I'm trying really hard here to say it more delicately that I got tipsy... lol)

It was not the first time I felt my head go a little spinny, as over the past couple months I've been trying to harden my tolerance towards beer. Eric drinks some pretty hoppy stuff (sometimes I grit my teeth and power through the glass, because I hate to lose, lol). Strangely enough while I opt for blondes or lagers, I really liked the barrelshed one (the strongest too @.@)

Pretty fun time, considering we walked from McMaster to the area. He took me through this under bridge passageway and a steep hill. I'm not coordinated. I accomplished both without fall, it was a day deserving of praise.

When I took roughly a year off after I graduated I honestly didn't expect to get a job as a bartender at a restaurant. In the back of my head I had always planned to get my Smart Serve so I could work at bars while I was away for college.

So upon getting this job my life felt very different. I managed to get into a groove of mostly set hours, seeing the same rotation of people and grew accustomed to the smells and sounds of a particular environment. It was a sushi restaurant and I found that both good and bad. Good, because OMG FOOD and bad because OMG FOOD.

After several months though I could feel my artsy bones growing weary. They longed to be in a different pond. I grew to love the Spring family, but I knew this wasn't the peak for me. So I gave my two weeks notice (my first ever!), wrote a letter and everything. Even kept it on the sly and only told people I was leaving the night before my last shift.

I got to make so many Asian friends! Hahah, is that bad? After coming back to my hometown having been away for school I felt so empty and like a lonely spec in the sea of blurry faces. Getting to become acquainted with a variety of personalities was great. I spoke with customers and faced some difficulties with the service industry. I toughened up a little and even gained a jovial rapport with several employees and delivery drivers. I count those several months working there pretty valuable in when I was reshaping myself after school let out. 

I spent my second new years away from family this year, learnt how to make pretty drinks and how to pour beer with what I feel is a sexy amount of foam, participated in events that sometimes only works when you have 15+ people to count on (like Archery Tag).

I can't begin describe several growing up choices I faced during my time there, but I'm so very grateful to the people I met.

Love you fam! Also, I have never used the word girl so much in my life as I did in those 35 hours a week I spent with those losers ♥ :D

Well, it was more like I became more active in the real world. But I don't like that I'm not taking the time to sit down and write down things that I am doing and going to recommence posting, with a minimum of once a week. So today is going to have a couple posts that were spread out throughout the past couple of months.

I just really wanted to kiss him but I knew there wouldn’t be enough time to do all that we wanted before he had to leave, and he did too, he kept looking at the clock. So we laid there for a while. A couple times you squeezed me like you do a person or a thing when you just can’t get enough, like I want more as if to feel everything or more than all that you are.

A couple weeks back Months ago (now) I had the pleasure of hanging out with someone, oh yay, work finally gave me a couple hours to myself!

So what did we make? Tortilla Lasagna. Now I give you the recipe and while we did our best to follow it, it somehow was more of a DIY attempt, but for any of those who wish to try it, yeah, probably should follow the directions if you aren’t the type to forge your own path (a really nice way of saying fuck it, it’s whatever). 

It turned out, pretty okay. Like 8.1/10 for me.

I think it was fun the way we made it, cause Eric decided we should add the entire can of crushes tomatoes to the already cooked pan of meat, fresh tomato, pepper and stuff.... So he just kept pushing for the fact we had to reduce is all. Which well, he ended up doing since I wasn’t going to stand there after he dumped it in.

Then we watched 2 and a half movies.

Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo and Billy Wilder’s Witness for the Prosecution.  Which was wonderful. So wonderful to watch a film that had great composition and story. I much more enjoyed Witness versus Vertigo (which is the below pictured).

I want to do a better review, but I think I'd end up giving away too much. Short answer? Go watch it yourself. I didn't think I'd appreciate black and white movies as much, but this venture to go through them has been great. Go, go on now.

Taking away who the characters are, even though I am all for the IwaxOikawa pair, just this action, hnng, I do miss it, I took it for granted.
