Ive always, ALWAYS went with my parents ( dari kedah senang gerak thailand ) till i was 20? Then i went with my friends, alone, etc. This time i was lucky enough to go with local Tv travelog, I went to 3 destinations so im going to devide em into 3 post. I hope this helps whoever that is planning a trip to these places, sawadeekah!
haha yes, my first time here and i got to say, Krabi is like that guy u meet that oh like 'oh erm okay' but the more u know him, u grow fonder, then once u leave, u'll start to realize HOW BOMB HE IS
We actually took a private car from Phuket Airport to Krabi, and stayed at The Leaf Guesthouse at Ao Nang . https://g.co/kgs/ANERq6
Here’s what ive learnt about this hostel:
-super comfy bed and got curtains, YAS to privacy.
- There is a Tesco Lotus right infront of this hotel, convinient af.
- Cheap and the lady was helpful
- Close to the Mosque ( about 600m ), lots of halal food otw.
- A far walk from the beach, but walk-able. Around 2km? But i enjoyed it, the wind and the surrounding lain macam.
- My unit's bathroom personally sumbat, so everytime someone shower, have to wait 10 minutes for the water to drain. Errr So check with the lady
For those staying at The Leaf Guesthouse, there is this warung to the left of the hotel, you can spot a Mak Cik yang berhijab selling food. I ate the nicest Laksa lemak siam there, they also have bubur and lauk2.
Tell driver : head to tesco lotus, from there u can spot leaf guesthouse opposite of u and to the right u can see a tent openned up infront of a closed shop.
Honestly, there are so many halal choices walking towards the mosque, and around it. All the top favorites banana pancake, tom yam etc. I ate at a typical place, had a typical tomyam meal haha.
S̶h̶i̶t̶ Things to do in Krabi
Krabi Night Market
Opens weekend only ya
Note that the Krabi Town is a 30 minute scooter ride from Ao Nang beach area, once you habe arrive just look for
I notice Krabi night town offers alot of craft, and cheap accessories. From soap souvenirs to hand drawn sneakers, not a bad night market to walk about. Keep an eye on the cheap earings at the entrance from the main road, 20baht for a pair! I got two hoop earrings - the bigger the hoop the bigger the hoe
You can pretty much see alot of booths or stalls and hotels promoting daily trips, I went for the 4 islands snorkling tour, Poda island, Chicken island, Phanaeng island, we couldnt go to the 4th one due to hazardous weather conditions.
If you are planning a trip to Koh Phi Phi, cheaper snorkling packages are available there. more on that later
Not the best place ive ever snorkled :/ the water was beautiful tho!!! Still kenot beat our own islands 🌴 On the bright side, the boat ride was thrilling !! u gonna get wet either way
Tip : wear/bring waterproof bags/clothing
Krabi Night Market, not so much of a 'market' more like a street by the beach selling all kinds of S̶h̶i̶t̶ stuff - reminds me of gurney drive abit, old school gurney drive
Things there are expensive, u can say tourist priced, but nice to walk around! U start from Mcd up the hill then walk down towards the beach area.
Pasar Malam by the Mosque - you can see alot of malaysians eating here, it has everything we are familiar with, plus made only in thailand dishes.
Live Bands - i only visited one bar - Raggae bar, the live band was lit, turned into a rock concert. For raggae lifestyle lovers, I recommend you to check this place out. There are bars by the beach area, normally they are hidden in the lorong kecik(small road) along the night market.
warning: its expensive. for budget travelers you have to save up separate for this, kalau minat? go ahead it was superb! They happen only a few days a week.
the cheapest ticket is around RM80-90, i got to go because i was shooting for a Tv show, I got to watch my first k.o !!!
they provide free transport for customers who bought or wants to buy tickets to watch muay thai. You can easily spot, well, hear the bus. “MUAY THAI FIGHT TONIGH TONIGHT TONIGHT 9PM 9PM MUAY THAI FIGHT’ sounds something like that.
Walking around Krabi you will spot a lot of booths selling day trip doing all sorts of activities ranging at different prices. I went with the Blue pool & Hotspring Waterfall & Elephant tracking package, i heard from locals memang blue pool ni wajib gerak.
Took us 45minutes in the van to reach Blue pool, you cant swim in the actual blue pool, BUT there is another pool available for swimming, it’s on the way up to the blue pool, yes hiking is involved.
Admire the Blue-ness of the pool, wondering how the fuck is it blue, then make your way down and enjoy the swim! Around the swimming pool’s edges is really slippery, lime stones babehh.
yes its a hybrid, hotspring at the top, waterfall at the bottom. I wished we stayed longer at this placed, if you are heading here, start from the top of the waterfall then slowly make your way down, air dekat bawah tu sejuk nak mampus, kinda weird considering the top of the waterfall is literally boiling. But it does say on the info board that if you rendam for about 20-30 minutes, it has benefits for your skin. yeyyyy
now... im really skeptic about these animal riding centers, ive heard horrible stories on animal abuse and starvation and drug abuse on animals....... i was SO SCARED when i first got there, my eyes were looking for anything that was ‘wrong with the picture, but you know, infront of tourist they show off their good side but we dont know what happens behind the curtain. But my experiences with the Elephants at this place was magical none the less, only because of them, they are amazing creatures slowly fading away from us. I prayed for their safety and health when i left, tried my best to stretch my hands as far as i can to reach their trunks, to say goodbye.
That’s all i can remember guys, i hope these tips will help, and to future me! because i will definitely visit Krabi again.
