𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝.  life is difficult for you. your mother left or so your father told you. this wasn’t the case. you never remember your life in guatemala. the only thing you remember is her beautiful face. your mothers. the giggles of your sister. a better life only in the eyes of your father ; he said ;  it was a better life without your mother. you wonder now how the horror effected her. her son missing. her son kidnapped. 

it wasn’t a better life. arriving into a small town broke your trust in your father. he didn’t help you get accustomed to your new life. he had joined a movement ; a church ( nothing like pastor north ) your father was a believer. devoted.  your mother wanted you home. she called often only your father never answered the calls. you don’t speak of him. in fact you’ve done your best to forget him.  it was a nightmare for many years until the doorbell rang. aged twelve. answering the door to see an angel. your mother. she’s returned and come back for you. you never see your father again. you’re okay with this. you believe it’s for the better. your mother didn’t give up on you and you’re reunited with your family in this small town. she uses this to help save others. a home soon turned into a large property and then a safe house for people like angel. for people like you. 

𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧. your life is good. married for over nine years and a successful business have lead you to the hearts of people in this town. your bar is doing good. the inn is doing good and that’s until pastor north steps foot on this sacred grass. this town has been yours. not in a selfishness of man. however, the work your family has put into protecting it’s residents.  you know his name. you saved your wife from him. you saved your best friend from him. fuck, you said you would never hate. pastor north resembles your father. the judgement, the fear, and the damage. all in the name of god. angel you’re better than this, your wife whispers. you know this.  he’s gone missing. the prophet. you can’t help but form a smile. vengeful. maybe the cultists will receive the same treatment they so gracefully put onto others. angel, you’ve done things to keep your family safe. it’s not the only missing person that has been close to you. please, remember that.

CAL’S BAR. 8:09PM do you know what it’s like to be truly haunted? in a place like this  ⸻ no end in sight. i do. he thinks of this so often in his daydreams. it’s rare for cal’s to be quiet, yet the news of pastor north has brought holy cross to a halt. he can hear it now. the cult making it seem as if it was some type of miracle. 

he, like his mother had spent his life rescuing people, animals and even the nature that surrounded him. even after everything he finds himself bound to this place. angel is a protector and he knows this. he cares to deeply to even think of what he would do if he had to get out of this place. he could never. he owes them everything. 

“hmm.” hand under his chin leaning against the bar. the news of pastor north plastered on the small tv hung in the corner. “ain’t that a shame.” he truly doesn’t mean it. yet, his tone is left at ease that the other likely couldn’t tell. “now back to you” his sight returns to the familiar face in front of him. “what’s going on with you?”
