I’m looking for an old book I read a sample from at minimum six years ago. I’m having trouble finding it, so I’m posting about it hoping someone will recognize it.
Young adult magic romance book
Yup, black/ dark gray cover with a flower or a necklace maybe.
Plot was a teen girl saw her mate Aidan (I think) at a concert then their families kept them apart because he’s older than her and dark forces at work.
For her birthday her cousin (or sister) teleported her to a beach where he is, she stares at him for a bit, then calls him. After said cousin gave his number to her.
He tells her That’s dangerous but he was glad to her voice if just for a moment.
Then she went outside and saw her 16th (18th?) birthday gift, a red corvette. Yet she can’t even go the speed limit because her dad put a governor in the engine (or something) so she couldn’t go above a certain speed.
She angrily told her dad “Can’t see Aiden, can’t even drive the speed limit, guess I should feel fortunate you let me out of the house at all.”
Dad said something but I can’t remember that. And then that was the end of the sample book.
It was the first of another series too, I think. And also was published around 2012 maybe when I last read it. Maybe earlier or older.
