You know, I used to think I hated romance as a genre, as respectful as I tried to be with it, but now I realize I just really hated the relationship dynamics and male leads that a lot of popular romances push. Romance itself is great. I love to see how characters push one another to grow and change and bring out the best and worst in one another. I love how love itself can be a force of inspiration for change, or be found in the most unlikely places.
I just hate every toxic "morally gray" shadow daddy Rhysand clone ever written. I also hate almost all of the popular tropes.
It makes the hunt for reading materials exciting at least.
This is too good to keep in the tags, and seriously, why is there this rule that straight couples must have the dynamics from hell?
