It had been years
Nina sighed as she slowed her pace outside his old house. She clutched the box of Valentine's chocolates to her chest and idly fingered the wrapping. Gravel crunched under her shoes as she twisted slightly. Her chest pressed harder against the giant heart as she inhaled deeply and managed to take that first step. The streetlight flickered above and the darkness was thick. Nina was careful not to step on any large leaves and eventually found herself standing in front of the door she used to visit every day. She set the box down and focused on the paint peeling from the door.Â
Who knows if he'll even get them...or if she'd ever see him again. It was the first time she'd ever given a boy chocolate for Valentines and she was happy to have it be Neko. A tear fell down her cheek and she wiped it quickly. They were known to gather. It wasn't until she managed to walk away that she realized her body shook to the core. By the time she made it to the road she could barely see. She walked swiftly, making her way to the bridge where she could mourn.
