Sora winced as he scooped her up off the ground, her eyes watering as he brushed her bruises. After a couple moments of being held, however, she started to adjust. It still hurtâ it was going to no matter what he or anyone didâ but it was better than having to make it home by herself. Even if it was sorta embarrassing to be carried around like this. At least heâd covered up her tattered shirt with his jacket.
     âI wantedââ Sora blinked and broke off, glancing up at the sky in dismay when she realized the sun had already gone down. âI.. wanted to see the sunset.â She mumbled.
     She knew she was going to be in big trouble whenever she got home. Her father would be furious sheâd stayed out so long, and even more furious when he found out what had kept her from coming home. Sheâd likely be confined to her room for a couple weeks if she was lucky, and she didnât imagine heâd let her outside without a guard again for a year. Great.
     âIâll have to come back another day, if they let me out again.â She muttered bitterly. She rested her head against his chest and tried not to cry. It wasnât entirely his fault she was in this situation, but she was not looking forward to going home.
     She mumbled something at his warning, not fully listening to it because she was too caught up in thinking of her own troubles. She hesitated before answering his question, glancing uncertainly down the road that led to her home.
     âUh.. itâs that way.â She said reluctantly, nodding at the street. âReally big building at the very end, canât miss it.â She looked quite different than she had mere minutes ago, her gaze anxious instead of relaxed, body tensed as if she was poised to flee.
He glanced at her face when she spoke with a dark tone, his brow quirking at her words. His eyes widened when he quickly understood what she was getting at. The though sent a deep scowl to his face as he halted in his steps, not wanting to give her back to her abusers.
After a few moments, he growled under her breath before spinning on his heel and heading back towards the forest, âForget that noise...â He looked up at the sky and noticed that there was still time. Once they got back into the forest, he made his way to the hill before sitting down and carefully positioning her in his lap so she could see the lowering sun.
He removed his arms from her once she was settled against his chest before he leaned back on his palms, âI ainât takinâ ya back now that I now whatâs goinâ on...â After a moment of thinking, he kept his gaze on the sunset, âI know this is gonna sound creepy considerinâ what I did to ya and all, but how would ya like to come live with me?â He lightly tapped his fingers against the ground, âIt would give ya somewhere to live thatâs not with people thatâll abuse ya. Plus, youâd be able to come watch the sunset any time ya want.â
