nemethsmythianâ:
Mithian nodded her head, she wasnât completely surprised. She had known about the issues Arthur had regarding betrayals in his kingdom. We. She knew that it would take some time, but she hoped that one day Merlin could look upon Nemeth as his home. Otherwise she was going to feel guilty for taking him away from Camelot and everyone there.
She snorted, it was unladylike of her, but at the comment of her once husband, she took a long sip of her wine. âIâm not.â It was blunt, far colder than she would have liked to act, but she didnât really want to think about it. For the most part, she didnât face too much of a backlash against getting rid of her husband. Though others were more critical of her choice, thought she should have just endured it, as betters before her did. âIâm glad heâs gone too. He was a darkness over the kingdom and I feel much better with him gone.â
âYou do look more at ease.â It was like a weight had been lifted from her. Merlin could tell. Her eyes were glistening, her smile brighter and every movement was less measured and more relaxed. He didnât think he had ever seen her like this before, unless they were in Camelot, in the middle of the night, half a bottle of wine down.Â
But as carefree as Mithian was, the court itself felt tense. Merlin couldnât blame them. They must feel like they are all walking on eggshells around the Queen. The Queen is now single again and there were many worthy men in the court but none of them had asked her to dance or even approached for, possibly out of fear of being judged for moving in so quickly.Â
âIs Nemeth always this serious?â Even with the conversations going around, and the occasional laughter, it all seemed very formal.Â
âThank you, I feel more at ease than I have been in the last couple of years.â Mithian couple help but to drink more of her wine, relaxing with each passing minute. She hadnât felt this way since the last time she was in Camelot, before she married and everything changed. She longed for those more carefree days again.
She knew that it wouldnât last forever, soon enough she would be pressured again to be in a marriage with a worthy man. In her opinion there wasnât a man sheâd consider worthy enough, aside for the man sitting beside her. She was also grateful for the lack of anyone approaching her, even if that put everyone one edge.
âNot usually, but given whatâs happened, everyone I guess is a bit nervous around me. Or they are angry with me.â
