ICE Agents Shot An Immigrant Trying To Flee. Now The FBI Is Investigating.

The 39-year-old Mexican national was not arrested or charged with a crime after surrendering to the FBI.

The major facts about this case- ICE agents attempted a vehicle stop outside of a local grocery store in order to arrest and deport a Mexican national living in the US. ICE spokesperson Bryan Cox reports that man tried to flee and drove towards an officer. The officers reportedly perceived themselves under threat and shot into the car twice. The man was hit in the stomach and elbow. When found, the man was released into FBI custody. The FBI are investigating the legitimacy of the shooting and the arrest. After surgery at a Nashville hospital, the man seems to be recovering well; he survived. But the incident has caused a splintering of trust between residents of the city and law enforcement; fear is growing that due process will not be followed and that migrant workers and children are no longer safe
