The Pitt knows you and Jack Abbot as two of the best emergency medicine doctors they have. They tend to see a different side when the clock hits 7:00 am. A side in which, HR should likely be involved.
Authors notes -> Reader is past residency but not specified to be an attending (bc idk the difference) Jack and Reader are very flirty! Age gap (you decide how many years) Fluff! Residents and MS are a little concerned about Jack and readers relationship but also intrigued.
You and Jack Abbot canāt draw a line between romance and coworkers. Youāve tried, but itās impossible.
You originally started working on the night shift. Easily, with your charm and enthusiasm, you got close with Dr.Jack Abbot. You always thought he was attractive, salt and pepper curls and stubble, thick arms, and a rough yet gentle juxtaposition. Luckily for you, Jack shared a similar attraction towards you. A young and sweet doctor with a high patient satisfaction rate and the sweetest laugh heās ever heard.
Neither or you ever tried to hide your attraction. On your first day, both of you approached Lena at different times asking what the others deal was. Whether or not she knew if you were single specifically. Small flirtations constant throughout the shift.
As you were starting some charting Jack approached you, forearms on the table leaning over you.
āI heard that EMT was flirting with you earlier,ā He says softly.
God, you think, I bet thatās his ātalk you through itā voice
āOh yeah⦠a little bit I guess. You know how they are,ā You giggle at the memory, and Jacks concern.
āOf course I do. Pretty young doctor on her first shift, gotta jump on that,ā He chuckles.
āPretty young or pretty and young?ā You smile, stopping your typing to look up at him.
āFor that EMT? Pretty and young. For me? Both,ā He shrugs, a smirk pulling at his lips.
You bite your lip in response, shying away at his bold statement.
āYouāre gonna be real trouble for me, Sweetheart,ā He pushes off the table and walks away.
You look around, almost for confirmation that had really happened. Your gaze meets a smirking Lena and Ellis.
āGonna be trouble for me too if I have to write you two up to HR,ā She pushes up her glasses and scoffs playfully.
Needless to say, it was a nightmare when you got moved to the day shift. Your interactions with Jack shortened to during shift change. Youād be lucky if either of you had taken a shift. Sometimes, youād see each other outside of work. Exchanging numbers under the guise of work related conversations. It turned into flirting over text, small talk, and the occasional coffee ādate.ā
You had gotten into a routine. Waking up at dawn to get ready, making it to work early, and the occasional flirt with Jack. Everyone else was well used to your relationship. The nightshift of course, knew all too well about your dynamic. The seasoned staff of the day shift also aware of your sometimes inappropriate conversations. This routine becomes disrupted when new med students and residents come in. You had all been introducing yourselves before the morning rush when the dynamic became clear to the new doctors.
āMelissa King, everyone calls me Mel. I just got done with two months at the VA,ā She smiles widely.
Youāre leaning over Jacks desk as he finishes work on his computer and you jot down notes on paper.
āOh the VA huh? I had a boyfriend from med school who was there three months ago.ā You trail off, thinking about the fling.
āHe was fun,ā You add.
The new doctors go silent, uncomfortable from their superiors admission. Looking toward Robby or a senior resident to say something else.
āHey,ā Jack chimes in, saying your name with a warning tone. Essentially telling you that youāre making the new kids uncomfortable.
āAw, Jackie; are you jealous?ā You tease him, playfully putting a hand on his bicep.
āOf course I am,ā He smirks slightly, eyes never leaving his computer.
The new doctors shift awkwardly, not knowing whether or not to mention the very large elephant in the room. King counting ceiling tiles, Whitaker looking like a confused puppy, Santos eyeing you two extremely intrigued, and Javadi with her mouth slightly agape and eyes wide.
āIgnore those two,ā Robby says, āTheyāre in heat,ā he says the last part much more softly.
Another day, a few weeks into the residents being there, Jack is called in during the day shift. Essentially surprising most currently working, including you. He walks in pushing a gurney. Nothing insanely serious, a house call and the patient was unable to walk on their own.
Youāre standing with Langdon, Santos, and Whitaker as he comes in. Immediately you all perk up at the commotion.
āDaddyās home,ā You say to no one in particular, before walking away immediately to go help.
Langdon sighs, accustomed to your comments. Santos scoffs, as if slightly impressed with your bold words, Whitaker stutters slightly.
āAre they?ā Santos questions.
āDating?ā Langdon finishes her question.
āI mean⦠at least fucking right?ā She confirms.
āFunny enough, not that we know ofā Langdon answers.
āJesusā¦ā Whitaker trails off.
āTheyāve been like that forever though. If The Pitt was a reality show theyād be the āwill they wonāt they coupleā,ā Langdon laughs as he walks to help out with the patient.
āSome people these days, right? Old guys with girls half their age,ā Santos says to Whitaker.
āI donāt know, she kind of seems like the one whoās in charge,ā Whitaker shrugs.
Closer to 12 the ER gets quieter. Most are taking the time to catch up on charting or grab something to eat before it inevitably gets crazy. You decide to talk Jacks ear off. Youāre in a similar position to when you first met, except Jacks the one charting and youāre leaning over the desk to talk.
āAre you working a double today?ā You inquire.
āNo, today was supposed to be my day off. But when I got the call I thought might as well come in,ā He shrugs.
āWell arenāt you superman. You wanna get a drink after? Iām thinking if weāre lucky and it doesnāt get too crazy people will want to go to the park,ā You mention, resting your head on your hand.
Jack stops typing and looks up at you, āYou know, you can just ask me out right? You donāt have to make it seem like a work outing anymore,ā He smiles.
āYeah, Yeah, whatever. I mean, the best ones start out as a work outing and thenā¦ā You trail off, smiling at your own implications.
āOh yeah, kid? What are your intentions with me?ā He claps his hand on his desk, chuckling.
āMy intentions are very pure, old man,ā You respond, āAre yours?ā
āOf course they arenāt,ā a flirtatious smirk on his face.
From the other side of the central area, Robby and the residents and med students are observing. Mostly the residents and med students- Robby is trying to get work done.
āShould we ask Ahmad to start bets on when theyāll get together?ā Santos asks.
āOh, haha. Maybe theyāre just really⦠really close friends,ā King replies.
āFriends with benefits?ā Whitaker chimes in. The other doctors looking at him, surprised he even mentioned that.
āWe should hope somethingās going on. Or else itās just a walking HR violation,ā Javadi says.
āThe way they just talk like no one can hear them, Iām kind of impressed,ā Santos adds.
āI heard her tell Jack she wants him to put her in a headlock,ā Whitaker says.
āI heard Jack say she should wear tighter scrubs,ā King says quietly, slightly embarrassed.
āShitā¦ā Javadi murmurs.
āWill you all stop talking about them?ā Robby grumbles, āTheyāre clearly in love whatās the issue?ā
āSo⦠are they dating?ā Santos questions.
āIf this is what theyāre like not dating, I donāt want to see them dating,ā Whitaker says.
āAll in good timeā¦ā Robby mumbles and stands up, walking away.
The doctors look up to see you with your hand in Jacks hair, sensually massaging his scalp.
ā50 bucks theyāre together by the end of the month.ā
Hi! Probably not because I write so casually and sparsely. Good news is i only tag stuff when theyāre actual fics or one shots. So if youāre looking for all jjk works just search it up on my account and all jjk fics will be there. Etc etc
Hi!! Idk if you're taking requests and I also couldn't find if you say who you take requests for or if there are rules so if you don't write this it's all good!
Also, before I say the request, do you have a masterlist? I can't seem to find it.
Okay so if you have time can you write a Percy Jackson x female reader fic where the reader gets seriously injured in battle but tries really hard to hide it? Because she really doesn't want to seem weak, and will just deal with it later alone. But then Percy is worried about her and forces her to let him bandage it and rest. And just general angst turned into Percy comfort?
Thanks!!
hii ur totally good, i dont have a masterlist or rules bc im such an irregular writer but i dont right for percy and i dont do platonic things
