Oda's Sister, Oichi

Before Nobunaga's death, Oichi was married to Azai Nagamasa. They have three daughters, Chacha, Ohatsu, and Oeyo. But her husband later had to war with Oda when Oda declared war on Nagamasa's neighbor and long time ally. Nagamasa sent Oichi and her children back to Oda for their safety despite Oichi's protest.

After Oda's death, she remarried to Shibata Katsuie, one of Oda's generals. But Shibata got into a conflict with Hideyoshi over the succession of Oda clan. Like Nagamasa, Shibata too urged Oichi to leave with her daughters and go to Hideyoshi for safety. Oichi did sent her daughters to Hideyoshi but stayed with Shibata.

Shibata and Oichi died together in the burning castle that was being sieged by Hideyoshi. Her daughters were placed in the care of Hideyoshi and the oldest daughter, Chacha, becomes his concubine, and would later bear him a son and heir, Hideyori. Chacha influenced the character of Ochiba in Shogun FX.

The youngest daughter, Oeyo, married Tokugawa Ieyasu's son, Hidetada, the second Shogun. They had many children, including the third Shogun Iemitsu, and Kazuko, consort to Emperor Go-Mizunoo. Kazuko's daughter became Empress Meisho, making Oichi a grandmother to a Shogun and a great-grandmother to an Empress.

So you can see how prominent Oichi is in Japanese history and is described by their historians as faithful and loving to her two husbands, which is why the Japanese are upset at how she was portrayed in the game as having an affair with someone else (Yasuke), despite being married and have children.

There isn't any romance in Ghost of Tsushima so I wasn't expecting it in Assassin's Creed Shadows either. Although I was half expecting a romance between Yasuke and Naoe, seeing how much they both have in common. So imagine my surprise when it's between Yasuke and Oichi, which feels random and inappropriate.
