As the new year begins, I sit inside our cold tent and ask myself:

Do I even have the right to dream?

I dreamed of welcoming this year in a home that protects us, not in a fragile tent that shakes with every wind and lets the cold creep into our nights.

I dreamed that my children could sleep without fear, and wake up to the smell of bread — not the sound of bombing.

My wish was simple.

A small home. A safe roof. Warmth that feels like the homes we lost.

I wished I could vaccinate my children, protect their health, and shield them from illness the same way I try to shield them from war.

But the reality is heavier than my strength, and the war has taken away our choices and our time.

In this new year, I am not asking for the impossible.

I am asking for a kind hand, a compassionate heart, and help that can restore a piece of our humanity.

Maybe my wishes will come true.

Maybe my children will grow up remembering that someone stood by them in their darkest days.

We are still dreaming, despite everything.

Sameer and his 25 + family members don't deserve to languish in tents. they deserve a somewhat decent shelter, basic dignity.

their current place is definitely not ideal, but better than the streets. the issue is that Sameer finds it difficult to pay rent each month, ridiculously high amounts ( $500 - $600 ).

to add to this, the al-Kilani family are short on mattresses, blankets, even shoes. without a shelter, they will freeze !

due to the storms, Ahmed & his family are left without a tent, now moving from place to place – practically on the streets. on the streets, in the midst of all this flooding and rain.

Ahmed has young grandchildren to look after. these kids have no quality of life, no dignity, no childhood. no nice winter clothes, not even a bed to rest on.

his wife is very sick, her condition is only deteriorating in absence of proper medicine / treatments.

his son Samir was shot in the abdomen by the occupation earlier during the Genocide. his foot has also sustained severe injuries. Samir is currently in hospital, his foot risks amputation – therefore permanent disability !

the doctors say Samir must take expensive medicine and evacuate Gaza for surgery, this is extremely difficult and expensive ( $7,000 in total ) especially when you consider the living situation. Ahmed dosen't want to delay this potential opportunity due to slow donations.

I appeal to you, donate so Ahmed can hopefully rent a small, short-term apartment for his family ( $900 each month ). donate so Samir can evacuate, live, and walk like any young man.

okay I understand this post is lengthy, but I implore you, PLEASE read if you truly wish to support Ahmed's family ( @samirahmed125 ) or Palestinian families in general.

literally on Thursday ( January 8 ), israel massacres 13 Palestinian civilians as they shelter in tents. among the martyrs are FIVE CHILDREN. beautiful souls who will never see adulthood.

another three Palestinians had been killed overnight on Saturday.

tents in Gaza don't mean saftey, but humiliation and death. the UN has countless mobile homes / caravans ready, prohibited from entering. israel has also blocked equipment ( that could repair damaged sewage systems ) and fuel. the starvation hasn't ended !

due to the storms, Ahmed & his family are left without a tent, now moving from place to place – practically on the streets. on the streets, in the midst of all this flooding and rain.

Ahmed has young grandchildren to look after. these kids have no quality of life, no dignity, no childhood. no nice winter clothes, not even a bed to rest on.

his wife is very sick, her condition is only deteriorating in absence of proper medicine / treatments.

his son Samir was shot in the abdomen by the occupation earlier during the Genocide. his foot has also sustained severe injuries. Samir is currently in hospital, his foot risks amputation – therefore permanent disability !

the doctors say Samir must take expensive medicine and evacuate Gaza for surgery, this is extremely difficult and expensive ( $7,000 in total ) especially when you consider the living situation. Ahmed dosen't want to delay this potential opportunity due to slow donations.

I appeal to you, donate so Ahmed can hopefully rent a small, short-term apartment for his family ( $900 each month ). donate so Samir can evacuate, live, and walk like any young man.

israel moves to prohibit 37 aid organisations / NGOs from further operations in the entire Gaza Strip – this includes Doctors Without Borders ( or MSF ). they support about 20% of hospital beds, and one-third births in Gaza, along with other essential supplies.

We are starting from scratch, with nothing but a tattered tent unfit for human habitation. We have no bathroom, no furniture, no closets, no mattresses, no blankets, no chairs, no kitchen, no kitchen utensils, no pots, no plates, no spoons, no stove—nothing at all.

Two days ago, I started building a bathroom for my family, but I haven't been able to finish it yet due to limited resources and my inability to buy everything we need.

We wake up to eat, so we borrow plates, spoons, and knives from the neighbors. My children go out at sunrise to search for firewood to light a fire for our food, because wood is so expensive.

My children have no clothes, no shoes, and no education because private lessons are too costly. We are suffering greatly, and what I've mentioned is just a small part of what we endure daily.

So please, my friends, donate to us. Every donation, no matter how small, will alleviate our suffering and improve our living conditions. Please don't abandon us.
