I was afab and I still do the stereotypical girly giggle and cross my legs sometimes, but i like to bind, and I feel like a boy, I just can't shake the feminity. I'm still a boy, right?
Yes, you are still a boy. The way you laugh or sit doesnāt determine your gender. You can be as feminine as you want and still be a 100% real boy.
Iām similar tbh. Iām a trans boy and I make a lot of gestures people describe as āgirlyā and I like cute things. I used to police myself a lot in the past - trying to control the way I walk, the way I talk, the way I stand. It was very exhausting. Eventually I gave up on trying to doĀ things in a way people tend to describe as masculine and accepted that Iām not any less of a man just because I do things my way. And honestly? I felt so much better after this decision. Men can be feminine too!
Ā Your gestures donāt determine your gender - your gender is valid!Ā
I'm trans and want to medically transition but the problem is, I live in Poland. Here you need a ton of proof to transition and it costs a fortune and there's no guarantee you will get it. I'm 19 and my dysphoria is bearable. I really want to transition, but I don't want to be subjected to all the transphobia, harassment, etc that might happen during the process, and waste so much money. So do I wait for the legal situation to change, or go for it now? Thanks in advance for any help.
Kii says:
As none of the mods are from Poland, I donāt think we can give you the most accurate information on this. Some things to consider when making this decision are whether the legal climate is changing in Poland, or if things just seem to be at a standstill. Once trans rights are being talked about, change will happen, but if no one (specifically lawmakers) is making efforts to get laws changed, then you might end up waiting a long time. If any Polish followers have additional input, please reblog or reply to this post!
@transgenderteensurvivalguide
Okay, anon lets be honest: until PiS rule is over we can not expect any bigger law changes for trans people. Dudaās very first veto was for a law that would make sex change way cheaper and faster, and was a telling sign of what goverment thinks of us.
Rather than waiting I would consider figuring out (if you didnt):
are your parents or anyone in family supportive and if they would be willing to help with costs.
checking which medical tests you can do for free (i dont know how many of them can be done, but its def a few, you will have wait forever until they will get to you cause queues)
if there are any trans friendly therapists and sexologists anywhere near you & how much they charge
checking out http://transpomoc.pl/, http://transfuzja.org/ andĀ http://www.transseksualizm.pl/portal.php (the last one is kinda old but still has some good basic info) they are all websites by trans people for trans people and you can find tons on info on them
These are the things I would focus on right now. Even if you decide to wait it would still be a good idea to check at least some of these things out, they will definitely be helpful in the future.
If you have any further questions please dont hesitate to ask, there are a lot of things ive skimmed over here to not make this post too long.
Thank you for the info!Ā
THIS IS THE BEST COMMERCIAL EVER
Iāve reblogged this so many times because I truly think every parent should involve themselves with what their child enjoys.Ā
Not to mention this is an act of solidarity. Heās saying āeven if the entire world is against you, Iām on your side.ā Which I think is important for a kid to know. Heās refusing to be a bully to his child, even if he doesnāt understand.
I work at Hot Topic and we had a white suburban dad in who was buying matching heavy metal/screamo band shirts for him and his teenage daughter and said āTo be honest, I think this stuff sounds like garbage, but she likes it so we listen to it together and weāre going to the concert for Christmas.ā And it was just really heartwarming to see him so involved in his childās life and validating her interests.
I WILL NEVER NOT REBLOG THIS.
āI donāt get it, but I love how you love itā is one of the best things anyone can say. My entire family asks questions about comics because they want to share my enthusiasm for them and support me, even though they otherwise wouldnāt pay attention to the industry at all.
I get questions all the time about the things i like, weather it is bands or youtubers from my mom, but when I go over to my dads it is so obvious that he does not understand or know why I like it but it makes me happy knowing that he tries.Ā
THIS IS WHAT BEING A GOOD PARENT IS ABOUT
I was talking to my doctor saying I'm trans and I'd only recently realized that's what's going on with me, that's why I'm depressed and hate my body so very much. She started talking about a trans patient she had awhile ago who smashed pictures of himself in dresses at the age of three and insisted he was male by the time he was 5. She implied that he was real and that I'm not because I worked out who I am so late (I'm 21). Can I just get a little reassuring that I am valid? I feel shit rn.
You are absolutely valid. Iām so sorry your doctor was such an asshat.
People can figure out that theyāre trans at any age, young or old or somewhere inbetween. The wholeĀ āIāve always knownā thing is absolutely not true for everyone.
Your trans identity is just as real as the ones of those who figured it out when they were younger.
Hello anon! Youāre absolutely valid! I figured out that Iām trans a few years ago when I was past 20. Itās totally okay! Cis people tend to think that all trans people know since day 1 that theyāre trans but thatās not the case for everyone. There are so many of us out there and itās different for everyone.Ā
Hello!
So I decided to create a blog to write about my life as a trans person (and reblog a bunch of neon posts). Iām a trans/genderqueer guy from Poland whoās in his twenties. I feel kinda alone in this but I chose not to transition (at least for now). It wasnāt an easy decision and it still makes me feel sad. But overall Iām trying to stay positive and enjoy life. :)
