Neon Walks A Lot: Nuzlocke Rules
My biggest rival and friend has pointed out that we have inherently and fundamentally different ways of playing a Nuzlocke run. I would like to clarify how it is I'm playing it this time around as I'm usually more stringent and adhering to playthrough rules. This is my creative project, so I tailored the 2 main Nuzlocke rules a little more to how I play for the comic. You could call it Nuzlocke lenient mode, a Tradelocke or you can call it a Neonwalk if you like. (teehee) In any case, I hereby clarify that this is not a true Nuzlocke run in the purest sense. (Original Nuzlocke challenge rules)
1. You are to catch the first Pokemon you meet in a new route or cave.
If you KO say, a Zubat, you may no longer catch Zubat in that area, but say your next encounter is a Geodude and you catch it, that counts as your Pokemon for that route/cave and every other Pokemon in that route/cave is battle fodder
Pokemon encountered that are shiny may be caught even in the event that you've caught a Pokemon for that route/cave already, but they will be disallowedfor use in your party.
2. If a Pokemon in your party faints, it is considered "dead" and is released, no exceptions.
Revives and Max Revives are disallowed
You can limit what kind and how many healing items you carry (natural or mart-bought)
No hold item restrictions
3. If you trade a Pokemon into your party, it has a permanent place there. It cannot be switched later for a Pokemon that has an HM you need unless one in the party cannot learn required move and may be temporarily swapped for one that does. It must be immediately replaced upon completion of HM task.
You may trade with friends for trade evolutions, but again, the Pokemon you get back from this transaction is permanent on the team.
You may use the Global Trading System (GTS) and/or Wondertrade on Pokemon that were not traded to you in the first place. In other words, if you were traded an Absol, you may not post this Pokemon on the GTS or Wondertrade. However, if you caught a Bagon yourself, this Pokemon is admissible for posting on the GTS or Wondertrade
4. Your starting Kalos Pokemon stays with you through the whole journey, provided it does not pass away.
5. Each Pokemon will require a nickname unless traded to you without one. This adds a sense of closeness to your team and forces you to care for them all the more in the event one dies.
6. No restriction in reference to the use of legendary Pokemon unless it breaks rules 3, 4 or 5.
