Sansa stans need to stop with their whole narrative bullshit about Arya not being able to survive in her situation. Because you know Sansa would never make it had she been in Arya's shoes you need to paint the same narrative as if Arya is not already survive worse in Harrenhal.

Let's talk about Sansa and Arya for a moment.

I write this in reference to my previous post in defense of the insults that the character of Sansa receives, and I am sorry that a part of what I wrote has been misunderstood by some people so I want to clarify this topic!

I'm not belittling Arya! In fact, she's one of my favorite characters in all of ASOIAF and I love the relationship she and Sansa have. What I said is simply my opinion (which I decided to write because it is one of the most discussed topics in the fandom).

That being said, I truly believe that Arya would not have survived what Sansa went through just as Sansa would not have survived what Arya went through.

Clearly I wasn't trying to defend Sansa by saying this as I think she would have died right away if she had found herself in her sister's situation. Sansa, as intelligent as she is, does not have the skills and personality of Arya and that would have killed her.

Same thing for Arya, as much as her character has grown and become strong, this in my opinion would not have happened in King's Landing because she wouldn't have received the same training, therefore she too would have died immediately. Arya, as sly as she is, is not as smart as her sister sansa.

I love how different they are, and as much as I hate what happened to both of them, these are the right experiences for them because they contributed to the growth of their characters and what they have become.

However, this is just my opinion, so I would be curious and happy to hear opinions from the fandom different from mine!

I seriously get the feeling you have not read one Arya chapter after AGoT.

Arya is a hundred times smarter than Sansa. She saw right through Joffrey immediately while it took Ned losing his head at the end of the book for Sansa to realize the cartoon villainy of both Joffrey and Cersei.

Sansa survived in KL because she was Ned Stark's daughter and a valuable political hostage. That's it. No other reason. She didn't survive based on her intelligence or wits. The adults didn't kill her because they were arranging marriages for her with Joffrey, Tyrion and Willas and she was useful to them that way.

The same way they would not have killed Arya because they would be busy arranging marriages for her to secure the North and Winterfell. Fortunately for Arya, she was smart and could see through the Lannister guards in disguise that Cersei set near the ship to capture her and made her escape.

It was harder for Arya to survive the Riverlands and Harrenhal because she was just one of many peasants being slaughtered by opposing armies. And Arya did it by observing, planning and using the lessons learned from her teachers like Syrio and Ned.

Arya had no one looking out for her - and she's two years younger than Sansa! She planned and executed her own escape from Harrenhal and was the leader of her little pack.

And that's why we said that canonically Arya has survived tougher situations than KL using just her wits and intelligence and she would have similarly survived KL as well because the Stark kids are high value political hostages.

We should talk more about how Arya is a polyglot in this fandom. It is such an impressive achievement, and still so underrated.

I cannot help but laugh at this post when OP only recently has made it clear that they think it would have been better had Arya just stood aside and let Joffrey physically harm Mycah.

There is no doubt that Arya comes from a privileged background. It is also true that had everything not gone to shit, she would have never known the hardships a common man truly has to face. But to diminish Arya's virtue of looking above class, above a person's station to something as just "having fun" is so mournfully wrong. It almost sounds as if Arya has just been playing at a facade of caring about the people of Winterfell. As if she derives some sort of sick pleasure from her place of privilege by playing at being a common girl.

It is in Arya's nature to make friends wherever she goes. It is in Arya's nature to want to know a person for who they are. She throws snowballs at hedge knights and soldiers bc she is a kid and that's what kids do. She names the babies of the kitchen maids bc she cares for them. She chooses the company of a butcher's boy because she enjoys spending time with him. She stands up for Mycah because that's what friends do. She is shocked at the inaction of her father's men over Mycah's death bc even though she is somewhat aware of her social standing, she is yet to fully understand the cruelty of a classist society. The colors of black and white blur a little bit here and is completely erased by the time she is on the road and sees just how much destruction the people of her class can bring upon the lives of the small folks (just like op has said).

I don't think I would have loved Arya as much as I do had she not come in between the crown prince and her friend. I would have not cared of her as much as I do had she not from the very beginning rebelled against the status quo in her own way. Westeros is in dire need of a re-evaluation of the power that has been given to the so called nobles who are not so noble in their treatment of the weak. So when a little girl comes between a butcher boy and the crown prince, the merit of the action shouldn't even be up for a discourse. After all Arya's birth would have provided her no protection had it been Jaime who had found her that day in the woods. Her birth then would have been nothing compared to Joffrey's supposed status as the crown prince.

Arya's refusal to back down in the face of injustice is not the cause of Mycah's demise. The murder lies at door of the classist society which lets the authorities get away with their crimes.
