guys will be named after biblical saints and heroes and have nary a godly quality about them.
Depends on which god, old or new testament.
We really need to stop with this dichotomy. It’s antisemitic, and it’s inaccurate. The Old Testament is filled with passages about God’s love for His people, His desire to be in relationship with them, and His heartsickness when they turn away. The New Testament has passages about hellfire and the outer darkness, where there will be gnashing of teeth, an event in which God whips moneylenders, and a promise of Christ’s return with the host of heaven at the final Judgment that is going to go really, really badly for those who refuse to repent. God cannot be placed into a box. And He certainly doesn’t fit the stereotypes people make about the mean nasty “Old Testament God” and the nice, shy, wouldn’t hurt a fly “New Testament God.”
In my own study what I found the difference to be was Christ acting as a mediator at all times. There were many times in the OT where God was like "welp guess I gotta kill them all" and ONE person would be like "wait! But... hear me out... what if we didn't do that" and God would ALWAYS stop and be like "hmm, okay I'm listening".
The difference is in those instances, God would come to the individuals to spare them and then the convo would happen. Given that Jesus is the Son of God, literally a part of him, he could have those convos and awareness CONSTANTLY.
The behavior wasn't different or out of the ordinary, but the way to get to the final result was.
Anyways that's my 2 cents
