  You looked back to the shack, then back to Nepeta with a sigh. Mostly out of relief of the offer. “Thanks, I really appreciate it. I’ll pop by if I need the help. Right now, I’m trying to afford the materials.”

Oh, there goes your stomach. You knew that it was going to happen what with the talk about food. You reached into your pack and pulled out an apple, thought about it for a second or two, and then pulled out another apple from your bag. You held one of them forwards with a straight face. “Here, you can have one of my apples to tide you over while you look for some food.”

Your eyes get bigger when you see the apple, and your stomach starts too. Suddenly he grabs another apple and holds it infront of him.You stare at it for a while until you finally grab it. " Thank you so much!" you quickly eat your apple and start on your hunt for more food. " See you later!" you say "and don't hesitate to pop by if you need help with anything."

Karkat might seem like a crabby person but if you get to know him he's actually kind of nice.

You look around town, there is nobody as usual.

Sometime's this town is just so quiet that you even forget that you exist, for some reason you always feel bad about that.

You never see any of your friends anymore, you wonder if they are still here. Maybe you could bother Karkat but you think he'll only get annoyed when you are around.

You shook your head. Honestly, you’ve run out of food a while ago as well. You hadn’t restocked the shop in a while, and you were about to do so soon.

“I don’t have any food right now. I’ve just been picking the fruit off the trees and fishing. I haven’t restocked recently since the town seemed pretty dead. I’m going to order things in today, though. Some else has moved in, and the other citizens seem to be stirring awake again.” you explain, walking to the crab shack to dispose of the weeds.

“Also, I’m planning on closing the shop for renovations soon after restocking. Get a better store layout so I can stock more things.”

You are a bit disapointed but it can't be helped, you gues you should just fish for food or something.

You look at the crabshack, it indeed needs some renovations. Now it's just an ugly shed wich contains nothing more than some furniture, dust and an awful lot of spider nests. It's kind of like vriska's house but then smaller and falling apart.

Renovating this awful shop might attract more people, maybe you should help him out.

"If you need some help with your renofations you can ask me, i would love to paint the crabshack fur you."

Yes this was definitely not just a day you were asleep. Outside it’s cold and snow and winter - you either slept for a long, long time or simply timetravelled while not noticing? It wouldn’t be the first time to happen, so you are not really alarmed.

However, this also means that your friends haven’t seen you in a long, long while, just shots through your mind when you see two people further away. Maybe it is Karkat and Nepeta, lately you’ve seen them together quite often. Oh, well, half a year ago, so you wonder if something even really happened between them in all that time. Smiling, you walk towards where they stand and soon see that it’s actually just Nepeta… and a snowman.

“Nepeta”, you call as you come closer, the snow making gnawing sounds underneath your shoes and the cold biting into your skin. You hug yourself and you really feel cool.

You wave at her when she calls your name. 

When you stands next to you you take a good look at her. She didn't even wear a coat. 

"Hey Aradia, i don't think that that are the right clothes fur adventuring this time of the year. Maybe you should put on a coat befur you start hunting fosils."

Great Nepeta you havn't seen her in ages and this is how you greet her, great just great.

"So er. . . how are you?"

It is quiet, but you can hear the melodic sounds of one of your clocks in your bedroom. The ticking sounds melt into the slow melody, you love listening to it. Your house smells old, even though it was brand new. At least you think so.

Maybe the old smell rather comes from what is inside your little hive, even though it is not much yet. Bones, clocks… and some funny little wooden… things that made sounds. You dug them out when you were looking for dinosaur-bones or other treasures yesterday. Was it really yesterday?

Since your senses are awake already, you figure you must be, too, no reason to further have your eyes closed. So you open them, turn your head and look at the clock that makes all those lovely noises. Half past six in the evening, oh it is already this late! You almost can’t believe you slept this long. Still, something feels weird. You feel a bit… rusty, almost. Why would you? Pink-purple-ish light floods your attic, which also is the room you sleep in, your bedroom. It reminds you of people you used to know.

Nevertheless, you got enough sleep, time to get up and out of your hive. Sleep is nice, but as the saying goes: “There is enough time to sleep once you’re dead.”. Or when. Everyone dies eventually. Smiling, you stretched one last time and got out of bed, your feet touching the cold wooden floor. Cold? A look outside widens your eyes. Snow. There was snow out there, something you have never seen on Alternia. But wait. It’s… summer, isn’t it? Snow is supposed to only appear in winter. Putting on your clothes, you go downstairs and finally outside. It really is snow. You know time. Now you looked around to find someone to tell you the date.

You stand outside gazing at the lovely snowman you just build, you are proud of yourself and your snowman sculpting abilities. You look around to see if there is someone to show your amazing snowman to, and there seems to be someone you can show it of too! You see your friend Aradia walking in the disance. You raise a brow, she wears way to thin clothes for this time of the year. She looks a bit confused too, you should ask her what's wrong.

You find yourself throwing the weeds you have gathered up into the air as you let out a very in-huma— in-troll like “SKREEE!”. You didn’t expect life to come back into Can Town so soon! As soon as you were let go you whirled around on your heels to turn to your feline friend and—

“Jesus fucking christ on a fucking cross Nepeta!” Did your voice crack to a higher octave? (And how did you know who Jesus was??) Ah, fuck it. “Are you trying to kill me?!”

Karkat, Karkat. Breath. Just take a deeeep breath.

After much ‘protest’ (consisting of a frustrated grunt), you do as the strange voice in your head tells you. God, you swear you were going nuts. With a deep breath in and a deep breath out, you look back to your friend. “Sorry about that. Just— I didn’t expect the town to be lively at all right now.”

You giggle when you hear his scream but feel a bit quilty when you see his face.

"Well it's still morning and as far as i know we don't hafe many morning pursons around here. But apart furrom that this place did turn into some kind of ghost town" you pause and look around for a moment "efen more of a ghost town than it was at first."

Your tummy rumbles once again. You look past karkat at the crabshack.

"Hey, you don't happen to sell any food in your shop do you? I don't hafe anything at home."

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

You find yourself staring out the window, taking in the scene. Seems like there are quite a lot of weeds out there. Guh, you’ll have to pick those out before anyone starts coming around to the store. Sure, you could leave it until a new worker comes, but… That could be near forever to happen. So, flipping the ‘Closed’ sign to ‘Open’ on your way out you begin to run around pulling weeds. God damn, these were nasty buggers.

You just woke up from your cat nap that took longer than it should have. You look in the mirror to find out that your hair looks awful, but thats okay you just put on your hat and no one will ever know.

Suddenly your tummy rumbles, you havn't eaten in a while and there is no food in your house either.

You gues you could stop by the Crabshack to see if Karkat sells something to eat. You make your way through the jungle of  weeds in your garden, not that you care about that, what do you look like? a gardener?

When you arive at the Crabshack you see that Karkat is standing outside.

He has his back on you, maybe this is the perfect moment to get your hunting skills in shape again.You sneak behind his back, put your hands on his shoulder and say "hi karcat!"

Wow your work here was pretty useless, you could have earned the same money by selling an inventory full of fruits. You feel kind of stupid. Atleast you are happy that you are finnaly done here.

Laughing, you admitted: “Probably noht. I still like listening toh youh talk anyway, thouhgh.” Looking over all the drawn stuff on the walls, when Nepeta did so, you wondered if this was for Nepeta what fossils were for you. Exciting. Though it seemed to be more the looking at it, that was exciting than everything about it.

What you loved about fossils was that looking at them was like having a little time travel. You basically look at something that was alive ages ago, before trolls were even existing. You should have no idea about their existance, but their bones survived, and you can look at them today.

“I dohn´t have sohmething special in mind, but I kind ohf like being ouhtside. We couhld goh a bit strohlling throuhgh tohwn and see what we stumble upohn. Ohr doh youh have sohmething in mind?”, you offered.

The ‘Mr Vantas’ completely past you by. You hadn’t really heard it, went right over your head. While she cleaned, you started pacing. You were frustrated, things were going slow, and you were missing a couple of people! Pace, pace, pace. When Nepeta spoke, you turned sharply on your heels to face her. You were glaring at her without meaning to - she had done nothing wrong. Oh, what was that she was saying? Fuck, a new task? You hadn’t thought of one yet!

With a frustrated grunt, you go back to pacing. You’re faster now, looking down at the ground with hands behind your back. You mumble, trying to think of something to have her do. Wait, how much has she done for you? You stop pacing, doing the math in your head. Once you finish, you do nothing but smile. Wait, now your frowning. You run a hand through your hair and let out a breath.

“Uh, actually, you’re pretty much fucking done here,” you finally say, turning to face Nepeta again. You’re back to your straight face. “You can change out of the work clothes and do whatever you fucking want with them. Keep them, throw them out, give them back. Whatever the fuck you want.”

"I'm done?" a smile apears on your face. Finally, now you can consentrate on your job in the museum. You quickly take off your work clothes ( you always dress in layers and you didn't need new pants) and give them back to karkat "Wait, how many bells did i earn with this anyway? and how much was my house again?"

Crash, Shatter, BANG!

You shoulders rear up, yours fists clench. Along side that, your teeth grit together and your eyes shut tight. Oooh, you swear to GOD! You turn around fiercely, still keeping the same look except now your mouth is closed and eyes are open. You still look angry, but you need to try and keep some composure. You do own a store, after all!

“Nepetaaa… Yooou….!” you seeth out, clenching your fists more. Wait, no. Calm down, Karkat. Just. You bring your hands up, a sort of ‘Hold up’ gesture. You inhale and exhale a couple of times. Keep your cool. Once you’re calmer, you go to the back and get a broom and dustpan and come back and thrust the two towards the feline troll.

“Clean this up and get replacements for the broken items from the back.” After she takes the broom and dustpan you simply turn around and go about your business.

Wow, you can not believe you got away with that. He really looked like he was going explode, and then he just calmed down. The karkat you used to know would probably have ranted the whole day. You gues he changed quite a lot, even if it didn't seem like it ar first. But it's probably for the best to be careful and try not to make him angry anymore.

Oh, hes back. With a broom and a dustpan, you stare at them for a while and until he tells you what to do. You look at karkat then back at the broom, you keep doing this until it hits you what you're supossed to be doing. "Oh, i begin on that right away Mr.Fantas! *Nepeta grabs the broom and begins her task*" wait did you just call Karkat Mr.Vantas? Well you guess it's better to call him that from now on, it's probably even a better way of not getting him angry. I mean this way you can't accidentally call him Karkitty. You clean up the mess without a word and get some stuff out of the back, hmm since when are these fossils over here. Errr. . . you should really consentrate on your work.

You put the things down and look at Karkat. " so whats my new task?".

You’ve sent all of your workers off with different jobs, and here you are now. In an empty shack. Where did they all disappear to? You check the time — wait, holy shit. It’s already been near to a week since you last saw some, and a day or two since you’ve seen others! You grumble to yourself, they’re definitely going to get some pay docked!

For now you go about your shop, mussing your hair up in frustration as you do so. You’d kick a table, but that’d just be silly!

Helping latula took way too long. You run past the townhall and look on the clock for a moment, god damnit. You've been away for HOURS, Karkat is not going to like this.

First you run to your home, you need to get in your work clothes again because you changed to your normal clothes a while ago. In all frustration of trying to get on your uniform you forget to take of your hat and tail. You quickly run towards th store, saying "fuck" over and over again in a high-pinched voice, a fuck for every step you make.

Karkat is going to rant all day long, what if he fires you?!

You almost kick open the door of the crab-shack, you don't but the door does hit the wall too hard. A few things in the store fall over and break, great thats the second time this day. You wonder if you should run away, karkat looks as if hes going to explode.
