@neptune-stormbringer
Apparently the current proposed name of the hypothetical ninth planet is Persephone which is such a good name Iâm mad I didnât think of it.
Allow me to explain why itâs such a great name:
It pays homage to Pluto, previously known as the ninth planet, since Persephone was Pluto/Hadesâs wife in Greek Mythology
It helps make up for the gender inequality in the names of planets, since Venus is the only other planet named after a woman
If it exists, itâd be the coldest planet in the Solar System, and in Greek Mythology, it was Persephoneâs time spent in the underworld that caused winter
Iâm into this
I canât believe none of the reasons were âItâs what Pluto would want.â
#if he canât be a planet at least his wife can

Iâve started so many Mermaid paintings over the years and never finished any of them. I think I put Mermaids onto some kind of art pedestal (thanks, Little Mermaid) and never thought my paintings could do them justice.Â
Anyway, I made myself finish this one! SĂŠglĂłpur, named for Sigur Ros of course. PSCC & Cintiq 22HD
äŒéȘéŁçŸćœ | izanami no mikoto
âłÂ âshe who invitesâÂ
izanami is a creation goddess who created the islands of japan with her brother-husband, izanagi no mikoto. she died giving birth to the fire god kagu-tsuchi, and izanagi traveled to yomi, the underworld, to get her back. at first, izanagi could not see her as she was hidden in shadows. izanami told her husband that she had already eaten the food of the underworld and could no longer return to the land of the living. izanagi refused to leave her in yomi. while she slept, he took the comb from his hair and set it alight. upon seeing the rotting corpse of his wife, izanagi fled the underworld and sealed the entrance with a boulder. engraged, izanami told him that she would kill 1,000 of the living evey day. in retaliation, izanagi retorted that he would give life to 1,500 people each day.
