HER WIFE IS GIVING BIRTH AND YOURE LAUGHING
Two things that I love: Silksong and languages!
And of course I had to spend like an hour translating all the areas into Swedish. It was necessary. And lots of fun. I tried to use puns and alliterations wherever possible, and some of these could legit be Swedish place names that you would not be surprised to hear as someone’s birthplace. (There are little asterisks on those, btw.)
Pharloom — Långväva* (Long weaving; pun on långväga which means from far away)
Moss Grotto — Mossgrottan (The moss grotto)
Bone Bottom — Nedre Benbo* (Lower bone home. (This implies that somewhere, there is an Övre Benbo (Upper bone home) which in my mind would be the secret area above The Cradle where you get to the surface!))
Wormways — Maskgångarna (The worm tunnels)
Weavenest Atla — Atlas vävda vagga (Atla’s woven cradle)
The Marrow — Märgen (The marrow)
Deep Docks — Glupahamn* (Port of gulping depths; Glupa- will be a familiar prefix from children’s culture to most Swedish people)
Far Fields — Änds ängar* (Meadows of the end)
Hunter’s March — Jaktmarken (The hunting ground)
Greymoor — Gråhedar* (Greymoors)
Wisp Thicket — Gnistgläntan (Spark clearing)
Sinner’s Road — Syndaborgen (The castle of sin; pun on syndabock which means scapegoat)
Bilewater — Gallsump* (Bile bog)
Putrified Ducts — Rötarör (Pipes of rot)
Verdania — Verdanien (just a Swedish suffix on this one)
Bellhart — Klockebo* (Bell home (or bell nest))
Shellwood — Klockskogen* (The bell forest)
Blasted Steps — Blästringen (The blast (as in sand blasting))
Sands of Karak — Karaksand* (Sand of Karak)
Mount Fay — Fjäderfjäll* (Feather mountain, specifically the snowy mountains of the Scandinavian North)
The Slab — Kalklint* (Bare cliff)
The Mist — Dimman (The mist)
The Underworks — Undervärken (The under-pain; pun on underverk which means wonder (as in wonders of the world), but verk also means works (as in building where things like steel and water are produced/refined))
The Citadel — Citadellet (The Citadel)
Grand Gate — Klockporten (The bell gate)
Choral Chambers — Hymns hallar* / Psalmsalarna (I couldn’t decide. The first one is more of a place name and the second is more of a descriptor. Either way, they both mean The halls of hymns, and also they’re both alliterations!)
Whiteward — Vita avdelningen (The white ward)
Cogwork Core — Kugghjärtat (The cog heart; lowkey pun on kugghjul which means cogwheel)
Whispering Vaults — Viskningarnas valv (The vault of whispers)
High Halls — Övre valven (The upper vaults)
Memorium — Åminnesalen (The remembrance hall; pun on åminnelse which means commemoration)
The Cradle — Garnkammaren (The yarn chamber; pun on barnkammare which means nursery)
The Abyss — Avgrunden (The abyss)
Please, any Silksong fan who sees this and speaks a language not included in the game, do a translation for me! With explanations! Please I will love you!
Seems fun lmao. Did these kind of quickly but here's my attempt for Finnish. A lot of it was balancing between accuracy, repetition and having the names sound natural... Had to sacrifice many puns along the way. Pharloom - Varlu (Just a Finnish spelling of the sound. I considered other names that would work with the pun in English [Kaunkas? Häämö? Aivi? Kangaistus??? :D] but they're all sort of strange so I decided it'd be best to just keep the original. If I had to pick a different one I'd probably go for "Häämö", which is a wordplay on "häämöttää", "to loom in the distance", sounds vaguely similar to "haamu", ghost. Varlu sounds more like the name of a country, though.) Moss Grotto - Sammala (Moss-place/town) Bone Bottom - Kallonpohjukka (Skull Bottom/Nook. Changed it from "bone" because the Finnish word "luu" is an unusual one-syllable word that makes everything it touches sound confusing for a second!!)
Wormways - Toukkatunnelit (Maggot tunnels. Alliteration :3) Weavenest Atla - Atlan pesä (Atla's nest) The Marrow - Ydin (Core; Direct translation of marrow would be "luuydin" [bone core :D] but I'm allergic to the word "bone" as explained above, so. Ydin.)
Deep Docks - Syväsatama (Deep Docks :3 Alliteration!) Far Fields - Perukkapellot (Faraway fields. "Perukka" has a negative connotation, like "in the middle of nowhere", or generally far from any civilization. Alliteration again.) Hunter's March - Metsästysmaat (Hunting grounds) Wisp Thicket - Savukko (Smoke place; the -kko suffix is typically used to imply a thick forest, or multiples of trees; thicket = tiheikkö, jungle = viidakko, etc. so it works well for forests) Sinner's Road - Syntisten tie (The road of Sinners. Very biblical, sonds cool.) Bilewater - Sappisuo (Bile swamp. Alliteration >:33) Putrified Ducts - Mätälä (Putrified place.) Verdania - Verdania Bellhart - Kellola (Bell place/town. the -la (or -lä) suffix can be used to make anything sound like the name of a place, but I try to use it sparingly) Shellwood - Kuorikko (Shell place. See the explanation for -kko above. Kuori can also refer to tree bark!) Blasted Steps - Myräkkäseinämä (Stormy Wall [of the natural kind, like a steep climb]. Any reference to steps or stairs sounded odd to me so I tried to emphasize the difficult climb, though i'm not sure how well it works...) Sands of Karak - Karakin aavikko (The Karak desert) Mount Fay - Untuvuori (Featherdown Mountain; though the words "untuva" and "vuori" have been combined into a single word.) The Slab - Tyrmä (Dungeon; jail) The Mist - Usva (the mist) Underworks - Alisto (This is a wordplay; the "-sto" suffix makes it sound like a class of people, though it could also refer to a place. "ala" or "ali" = under; but "alistaa" means "to subjugate".) The Citadel - Sitadelli/Luostari (Sitadelli is a very direct translation but the word is lesser known and reeks of English. Luostari = monastery/convent.) The Grand Gate - Pääportti (main gate) Choral Chambers - Kuorokammio (choir chamber) Whiteward - Kudos (Tissue; flesh; but could also describe anything woven or knitted.) The Cogwork Core - Mutteristo (the cogs) Whispering Vaults - Hautaholvi (Grave vaults. Since most the vaultkeepers are dead. Alliteration :3) High Halls - Yläsalisto (high halls. the -sto makes it sound more like a coherent group of places than "Yläsalit" which would be the direct translation. I can't explain it, I'm no linguist) Memorium - Muistola (...memory/remembrance place.) The Cradle - Kehto (the cradle. sounds a little similar to "kehrätä", to spin yarn :3) The Abyss - Tyhjiö (The Vacuum/Void. Thought about this one for a while, since there aren't really any specific translations of the concept of abyss in Finnish, to my knowledge... "kuilu" is used pretty often but it feels like it implies a natural formation, like a deep ravine. Could also go for "syvistö" deep place, but I feel like that kinda clumps it in with the other -stö/-sto places I've already got here :DD) if any finns have cooler ideas than mine pls let me know
I’m on levels of bug yuri you ain’t never seen before
Sorry I haven’t been posting here like… at all….. can’t guarantee that will ever change but mayhaps I will post some silksong art here while the obsession lasts lmao

Wait does silksong even have any hetero couples in it.

in theory steel soul isn't that hard because you can just quit out
in practice, though, it means that you functionally have 3 hp instead of the usual 5, because almost everything does double damage
i hope silksong dlcs up the difficulty to the same degree as the hollow knight dlcs did. Give me absolute lost lace and nightmare beastfly. Cogwork polycule dancers.
yayyyy :3333
