Don’t get me wrong, this definitely would make me so sad but… I am obsessed with a bad end to C2. I want to see the Mighty Nein fail and it sets off an apocalypse for C3. I also want Yasha and Essek manage to survive it and they act as mentors for the new group in C3, except now they’re horrifically jaded.

I could see Yasha being so cynical and aggro, with a cold angry brutality. Essek would have a huge death wish and thread of cruelty. Essek would work towards time magic and Yasha would support him. Of course, they would be leading the C3 group to the most extreme ends necessary to get Beau and Caleb back. The empire kids were absorbed into the Somnovem hivemind so they can be saved but it’s a process.

Even better is if Yasha and Essek fuck over the C3 PCs to do so.

The story of Balto is interesting. He led a team of sled dogs across the Alaskan wilderness in the dead of winter with diphtheria antitoxins to stop an outbreak in Nenana Alaska. Diphtheria is a deadly infectious disease that could wipe out a third of a town’s population. It is mostly unknown to the public today because of vaccines. Balto’s body is preserved in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

I’ve seen a lot of things about how the Kamordah episode hits different now but you know what’s also hitting different for me is the very recent scene of the Nein sleeping in Yasha’s room at the tower. They have been walking on the razor’s edge of their ‘alliance’ with the Tombtakers and they know Lucien is watching them nearly all the time. They all hunker down to sleep for the night and Yasha takes a spot by the door while Beau cheekily takes her bed. Now we know Yasha was intentionally keeping her distance from Beau during that time.

And damn... as Yasha, you watch this woman you know you’re in love with as she just crawls into your bed and makes herself comfortable while you stoically rest by the door. Obviously you weren’t going to make a move with all your friends around anyway, but underneath it all there is also a gnawing fear. If you stray just a little too close, show just a little too much attention, you might be handing the enemy the very key to your undoing. So you fall asleep as far away from her as you can manage, and you refuse to give into the temptation of letting this affection show.

And then you wake up in the middle of the night to discover that someway, somehow, the enemy has already gotten a piece of her, no matter how hard you tried. And the city, Aoer, is too big for you to take on alone but Lucien is an enemy you think you know how to manage. Maybe, if you keep your distance, you can protect her a little longer.
