This fucked me up.
In the rare moments when medical students actually have a bit of free, quiet time to themselves, they may want to pick up a relevant read and see what lessons they can glean.

Medical Journey’s Book Giveaway #2:
Hey everyone, I’ve decided to do another book giveaway, to share some of my favorite medically relevant books with a few of my followers. I did this once before (last winter) and it went really well. I will be giving away the following books (completely free). They are all used but in very good condition.
1. Medical School Essays That Made a Difference
2. Med School Rx: Getting In, Getting Through, and Getting On with Doctoring
3. Medical School Admission Requirements (MSAR)
4. Becoming a Doctor: From Student to Specialist, Doctor-Writers Share Their Experiences
I will be doing a random drawing to pick 4 winners who will receive one book each.
To enter, just re-blog this post. Please re-blog only once. I will assign a number to everyone who re-blogs this post. If you are the 1st person to reblog, you will be #1 and so on. At the end of the giveaway I will draw 4 numbers using random.org to pick the winners. You can enter until September 20th. At 9 PM Eastern Time on September 21st I will announce the 4 winners. Message me with any questions!
Lovely! If I’m going to get serious about this, might as well start reading. Very generous of you medicaljourney!
Re-blogging so more people will see this. These books helped me a lot, so I’m happy to pay it forward to 4 lucky winners *Note: 12 days left to enter!
THIS is getting printed out and put in my waiting room.
(And yes, every single one of the complaints in the ER column has shown up in my Urgent Care at some point, just waiting to be astounded when I transfer them to the ER…)
Asthma attacks, broken bone that has broken through the skin, swallowed objects w/ trouble breathing…just a few of the those cases I have seen in urgent care. Then the patient becomes enraged when you send them to the ER. However, I have seen UTIs, ingrown toenails, knee abrasions (scrapes), and patients with seasonal allergies in the ER. Why?
I don’t get it. Everyone has a different definition of “emergent” but why do people behave as though something like Neosporin, band aids, or Benadryl are not sold OTC? Then a patient says, “the ER doc gave me diphenhydramine and it’s really working.” Or “that triple antibiotic was great.” 😫
WebPath contains images, text, and tutorials for pathology education
One of the totally awesome resources I used for pathology.
This site is really good for case studies.
Oh how I've missed this.
Do I know what I'm doing? I think so. Will I be able to remember all of this for my final next week? We'll see.
