You ever think about how cruel and merciless people can be and you just want to cry knowing that some people lack fundamental kindness and decency and have no shame in being assholes just for the kicks of it? You ever just want to rip your hair at the display of ruthless cruelty toward people who just want to have fun?
This isn’t about me. I’m thinking of all these kids making ocs on deviant art and having their designs stolen and reposted without their consent because “lol cringe!!!!”. All these people who know nothing about writing but still give it a shot, only to be rewarded with mockery. All these young content creators who want to try their hand at art and writing but are terrified to be made fun of because there’s this culture that unless your content is perfect and flawless then it will be mocked and shamelessly and ruthlessly demeaned.
This is what I mean when I say cringe culture kills creativity. If I had been mocked when I made my “cringy” magical girl ocs and vampire ocs and my stories with little girls being detectives with their dogs and of princess abandoning their throne to pursue knight life, I most likely wouldn’t have created all I’ve created today, now that I’m an adult. I think of all these kids who must be scared to make ocs, all these adults who were mocked as kids and who now are scared to write and draw and sing, and it fucking breaks my heart. We all start somewhere!
When did kindness become overrated? When was respect thrown out of the window? When did we start expecting young content creators to have the experience and expert craftsmanship of a published author? Why do we accept this?
Why is cruelty celebrated? Why is mockery lauded?
Why the fuck are people such heartless bastards?
