Jay Mccarrol and Matt Johnson filming 'Famous Jay' at the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards (jokes aside this is so impressive and fearless.)
"And yeah, I take some pleasure in people thinking that Iām stupid and I donāt care. Itās a good place for me to be."
MJ: And I will say- maybe this is a good note to end on. When we started Nirvana the Band, it was the three of us. And I cannot, it's going to be difficult for me to explain how meaningless and unpopular it was. And we made it for three years. And it's all we did, all we did was make that stupid show and it ended somewhat acrimoniously and we never got anything out of it. It was only a couple people in Toronto who even knew what it was and we loved it and maybe a hundred people, uh realistically, maybe a thousand people worldwide saw it and liked it. And if you have an idea for something that you want to do and you're like, ah, nobody likes this, this sucks, you never know. Because, I really do mean it, we thought we had failed. Really. And it was years later that we got the chance to make the TV show, and if we're being honest even that was a failure. Like, we loved it, and we know the people here loved that show, but, like, nobody cared. It was only with this very homogenized, G-rated movie that we've made that now people are paying attention. And so, take that for yourselves and your own fruitless, ridiculous dreams that you're like, "Well, everybody hates this, I'm a moron." You don't know. Maybe a time machine at one point will bring new relevance to this stuff you're wasting your time with now. Thank you everybody. Goodnight. Goodbye.
i could be doing worse. i could be the vampire armand

David Lynch was a huge influence on Danhausen. (ā¦) because in a world that is purely sanitized garbage for the most part, as far as arts and films and music and all that go, seemingly at least, he was authentically himself. He was unapologetically himselfā why would he apologize? He was weird, but because he was authentically weird, weird is good.
