Her bleak response was enough to confirm his suspicions about how their last encounter effected her. Oddly enough, the few interactions they had with one again had gotten him used to her ramblings and he wished she would simply go back to them. It wasn’t until she questions the lesson that he perked up, “I have something for you.” He said, almost stiffly as he motioned towards the Forbidden Forest with a wave of his hand. “Two things, actually, before we really start things.” It hadn’t occurred to him how odd it must have been to hear him say that, especially with his reputation causing many people to think negatively of his actions, no matter what they were. With a smirk he walked down the all too familiar path, hoping she would notice where they were headed just by the sharp turns he was taking. When they finally walked up to the tree he turned towards her, “would you like to hold him?” He questioned, not thinking that she may not remember his little friend that he had introduced her too a week prior.

Nesta raised her eyebrows. Cassian Nott, had something for her? She was so sure that the only thing he’d have for her was a lecture for the Poor she’d gotten on a short examination from Care of Magical Creatures. “Okay..” she says quietly taking the steps after him slowly, confused as to what this boy had planned for them before their listen took off. After the first few steps she began to recognize her surroundings, even seeing a small tree that she remembered looking out of place, and moments later they were in the clearing infront of the Bowtruckle tree. “I... uh sure.. yeah, I’ll hold him,” she says surprised. Though she hadn’t necessarily been around them much, she wasn’t expecting them to want to be held by her, seeing as she was still very new. In the back of her mind, she wondered if this was actually supposed to be something nice, or if she should be on her toes and expect him to lecture her for being ready to touch a creature so soon after meeting them. “Are you sure that’s okay? I don’t want to make them angry.”

Cassian Nott was many things; however, he was not ignorant. He was fully aware of how their last study session had ended, just as he was aware of the way she had angrily wiped at her tears while storming away from him. It was because of this that he realized he would have to do something to show some type of remorse. Usually he wouldn’t have bothered, but being as he was already committed to tutoring Nesta he knew the only way to keep it from being miserable was to show some type of remorse. That is how he ended up at the Bowtruckle tree, asking them in the only way he knew how if they would help him, and after an eternity of begging they had finally agreed. It was then that he marched to Hagrid’s hut, a smirk planted on his lips as he waited for the younger Gryffindor to show up. He was in fact early so he decided to spend that time inside, chatting with Hagrid about the new creature he had stumbled upon, though once he caught sight of her walking down the path he was quick to excuse himself and walk outside. “It seems I’ve beaten you this time.”

Nesta hadn’t seen the boy for a week, she’d made excuses as to why she couldn’t meet until the weekend when she’d had time to cool off. She’d had to explain to her roommates that she didn’t want anyone to bother her when she’d arrived back at the dorm, and had picked her way through a week of meals. How could she have been so stupid as to think he’d be nice to her in any environment. She supposed he was only himself when he was alone with those creatures. She dressed warmly once again, wearing a hat that had been knitted for her by her grandmother and started her trek to Hagrid’s. She was lost in her thoughts, her bag over a shoulder as she hummed to herself while she walked towards the hut. When she looked up this time she caught sight of Cassian standing outside and she took a deep breath preparing herself to be insulted again. “So you have, congratulations,” she says quietly, coming to a stop in front of him. If he thought she talked too much, she’d keep her mouth shut and let him teach. The sooner they started, the sooner they finished. “What’s on your agenda today?” she asks shoving her hands into her coat pockets.

He couldn’t say he thought about the chance that she wouldn’t get to see the creatures he had grown so fond over; despite his immense knowledge of them, Cassian had been able to see the thestrals for as long as he could remember and at times he forgot that others didn’t experience it the same way. Once she had confirmed her understanding of the situation he took a step back, adjusting the collar of his jacket out his let out a long, controlled breath. It wasn’t until she questioned him that his gaze snapped back to meet hers. He supposed it was a normal response to others, to be nervous at the thought of meeting a creature who had been made out to be the epitome of death, but he felt himself sneer nonetheless. “It’s normal.” He grumbled, “perhaps you shouldn’t believe everything you hear.” And with that he had turned on his heels, taking those final steps down the path to where he knew the herd would be. They were lounging around, of course, enjoying the shade being cast by the trees as the sun had already begun to set. When one of the younger ones noticed him they immediately perked up, most likely from the believe that they would be getting food. “Hello lovelies.” He cooed in a voice so soft it was almost impossible to believe it had come from him.

Nesta felt her eyes lower to the ground when he sneered at her, and she wondered how someone who knew that another had been touched by death could be so snappy. She hadn’t said anything wrong, it was a mere question that he’d decided to be rude about. So she didn’t speak again. She listens to the boy as he took his steps forward and after composing herself she followed, just stepping into the clearing when she heard the tough boy speaking softly to the creatures. But she wouldn’t let this one go, clearly, he had no intentions of being nice- just a tutor, just as her father had told her that his teachers had been. Straightforward, not at all friendly with students and that was it. So she watched him closely, greeted the creatures herself and took notes in one of her books while he explained things about them. She’d ask a few questions which she had to bite her tongue to avoid getting mad at his short responses. At the end of it she said nothing, packed up her things and left. She’d had enough of one day of being called stupid and then treated as if she was a child. And while marching back up to the castle she swore she could feel his eyes on her back and she wiped at her eyes when the angry tears fell.

The moment she had confirmed that she wished for their lesson to continue he turned on his heels, glancing up at the sky in order to determine where the creatures would most likely be.  During his visits he had begun mapping their herding pattern of sorts; figuring out where they would flock to during each time of the day. He had learned that they often did their best to avoid sunlight due to the displeasure they rays caused them. His brow furrowed at her question and he barely glanced in her direction as he said, “every chance I get.” Hagrid had been the first person to take him into the forest, murmuring something along the lines of with your talent with the bloody beasts you’ll find your way here eventually. He figured it would be safer if he showed his the paths first. An all too familiar screech echoed around them and it was the only sign he needed to know they were in the correct location. Before the creatures came into view, however, he rounded on Nesta. “These aren’t like the bowtruckles. They not only deserve respect, but they’re without a doubt one of the most misunderstood creatures known. If I think for even a second that you’ll behave poorly, I will take you back to the castle.”

Nesta instantly took a step back when Cassian turned at her, and she hadn’t been expecting him to make such a sudden movement. She didn’t like the way his eyes had gone from the bright happy to dark and serious. She tried to remind herself that he was only acting this way because he cared deeply about these creatures. She understood that he wanted to make sure she was just as serious about learning about them in the correct way and knew this was just for her and their best interest that she acts accordingly. “Of course, I’d never behave so poorly around a creature that I know hardly anything about,” she says with a scoff, because didn’t he think she was serious after she’d cheesily introduced herself to the bowtruckle just minutes ago. They continued to walk and she braced herself what she was going to see. She knew the basics- that they could only be seen by people who were directly affected by death. For her, it came in her immediate family, with her own uncle having been killed by a rebounded killing curse one day when they’d cut through Knockturn Alley when she was 11. This was a fact she kept to herself, and she was sad to know that in some way, Cassian had been around death too.  “Cassian,” she begins quietly as they continue walking, “I know you told me to get over the whole nervous thing but... I know what they say about these creatures and I’m just a little afraid? Is that normal?”

Thestrals. Cassian almost scoffed at the mention of the winged creatures, at how coincidental it was. Not only had he discovered his patronus to be a thestral, during his third year, but soon after he had formed an intense bond with the herd that lived within the castle grounds. He glanced down at his watch, quickly checking the time before turning his attention back towards her. “I have another hour or so. Would you like to visit them now or wait until our next lesson?” He was sure that the offer was strange; sure the fact that he could simply visit the creatures whenever he pleased was odd, but he didn’t care. She was going to learn more of his connection to magical creatures one way or another and he didn’t quite have the energy to filter their lessons to make of point of keeping his reputation.

Nesta raised her eyebrows at his offer, she’d known he was very much aware of his connection with Care of Magical Creatures, but she’d never imagined that he’d known so much about two creatures that she needed to learn about it. Hagrid had truly set her up to succeed, and she was now forever grateful that Cassian had even considered tutoring her in the class. She’d already learned much about bowtruckles, and that was only the first visit she’d be making in the oncoming weeks. She was determined to get them to like her so she could maybe visit with Cassian another time. “Uh... yeah, let's go see them now. The more I get t see of them, and hear you talk the better my paper can be,” she says more confidently. “If you don’t mind me asking, how often do you come into the Forbidden Forest?? Outside of class, that is?” she asks as they began their trek towards the threstrals somewhere on the grounds.

Cassian kept his hand steady as she addressed the small creature; who was now grasping his pointer finger as he swung out to get a closer view of her face. His gaze was trained on her expression as she introduced herself and he had to bite back a snort as she tried her best to win over the Bowtruckle he had become so fond of the past year. After she had finished her slight ramble, he pulled his hand back towards his own figure, nodding politely at it before lifting it back to the tree in order to allow it to return to its family. Once his hand was free he turned back towards her, smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he replied. “He didn’t attack you, so it wasn’t too horrible.” It was a compliment, in his own misconstrued way, and he could only hope that she understood that. “What’s your next assignment? It would be best to build our lessons on what your learning in class.”

Nesta smiled again when Cassian pulled his hand away and placed the creature back onto the branch. She let out the breath she’d been holding, shoving her hands into her pockets as she waited for the taller boy to speak to her again. “Yeah, no kidding. I’m just relieved he didn’t decide to repeat this on my face,” she says pointing to her own face, referring to the scar. She wondered if he had any more from all the time he often seemed to be spending down at Hagrid’s or in the forest. Coming from Cassian, that was a bit of a backhanded compliment, but a compliment all the same. She suspected that this was as good as it was going to get from him in the time that he was deciding to tutor her. “Uh... its an essay on thestrals, and we have an exam coming up as well.”

When Nesta took a step closer to both him and the Bowtruckle, he glanced back at the others lurking within the bark. Over the years he had almost gained a sixth sense when it came to magical creatures and he could easily tell that the others were hesitant of the new person he had brought to them. The one who had crawled onto his hand, however, had always been incredibly curious and when he lifted his hand just a few inches closer to the younger female, the small creature tilted his head and examined her thoroughly. “I believe them to be the simplest creatures to introduce you to here. The others can be quite… difficult.” And he had the scars to prove it. He glanced at the scar she had previously showed him, brow furrowing slightly as he realized how similar they were to the ones he bared. “It often helps if you introduce yourself, as you would with anyone you just meet.” He said, moving his hand those final inches so she could fully face the small creature in his hand.

She stepped a little closer to Cassian, standing close to his side as she watched him interact with the small creature. It was amazing to see people talk about things they were good at and generally loved to do. She wondered if he felt this strongly about Quidditch, she hoped so since he was the captain of the Slytherin team, and one of her biggest rivals. But then again, she supposed she was more passionate about the sport than most people at the school, as it was what her dad did for a living. When Cassian brought the bowtruckle closer, she smiled watching as it stepped forward to lean out towards her, studying her features. “Hi there. I’m Nesta, it’s very nice to meet you.. and to let us see your home.” she says politely making sure to mask the nervous feeling in her gut that she feared was in her stomach. She glanced to Cassian and chewed her lip. “Did I do that alright?”

Cassian’s entire demeanor shifted when a small bowtruckle peeked its head out from the tree, eyes instantly lighting up as he nodded his head in greeting to the small creatures. When the female next to him finally spoke he paused, brow furrowing as he shifted his gaze from the tree to her. It wasn’t until she cut off her own ramblings that he let an amused chuckle slid past his lips. Yes, he was tough and cruel and cared little for how others felt, but that didn’t mean he was completely humorless. “Just because you own one doesn’t mean you know all you need about them. You see while they’re all of the same species, they’re very different from one another.” He nodded towards the tree. “Take these for example. I’ve come across many branches of bowtruckle and they’re the first ones to allow me this close.” He placed a finger to the tree, allowing the small creature to crawl forward. “All it takes is one of them to trust you and the rest will eventually come along, but to get in hand with that is if none of them trust you, they will attack.”

She saw the bowtruckle appear at a branch that was just at Cassian’s eye level, a moment after he did. It was so cute and dainty and she swore she saw the small eyes of another glaring at her from the confines of the tree. She wondered how many times Cassian had made his trip into the forest to see them, to take care of them and understand them. It was surprising to her that he didn’t have one himself, but with someone who respected them as much, she supposed he wasn’t one to call a creature his “pet”. “I know that I was just telling you that I owned one, and so I know a few of their behaviors myself. Believe me it took a long time for Flik to trust me, he cut open my hand when I tried to pick him up the first time,” she says holding her own hand out to show him the thin pink line on the palm of her hand. She watched him with small amusement as he reached a handout and her jaw dropped when it crawled onto his hand. She moved a step closer, not sure what she should do otherwise, waiting for him to tell her to come closer since they didn’t know her.

Not once during all his years in Hogwarts had he spoke so freely about this passion of his. Not once had he allowed himself to be open about his love for magical creatures and the beauty they possessed. It was an incredibly strange feeling, one that was leaving him almost at a loss as he allowed himself to meet the gaze of Nesta Krum. He couldn’t tell if he was grateful to her for allowing him the chance to do this or if he resented her for pushing him to be vulnerable, but he wasn’t sure he cared either. Cassian listened to her intently, soaking in every word that slid past her lips and he began building up a lesson plan for the two of them. However, no matter how peaceful he felt within the forest, it wouldn’t change his natural instinct to be difficult. “Yes. It does.” He monotoned before twisting on his heels to walk deeper into the forest, off the path that was previously laid before them. “Leave your things. We’ll start with something simple.” Of course he knew exactly where to find the creature lurking in his mind, the tree already coming to view as he turned back to her. “Bowtruckles are usually very peaceful, but when threatened they can become vicious. You could say it’s similar to a bees nest.”

Nesta bit her bottom lips, trying to stop the trembling that would lead to her cursing at him in Bulgarian for being such an ass and calling her stupid, or from outright crying and running off. But she shouldn’t have expected him to be kind, after all, he’d warned her that he wasn’t going to be going exactly easy on her- and he certainly wasn’t going to be nice while he taught her. She set her things aside, running a hand through her hair as she took in a deep breath. Calm, Nesta, don’t let him pull out your angry Bulgarian side, it’s not cute. she thought to herself, starting after him. The tree he lead her straight towards wasn’t very big, a deep brown with bright green leaves that seemed to fall but grow back just as soon. It was pretty, and the last time she’d ever seen one was when she’d gotten Flik, her own Bowtruckle. “I have a bowtruckle.” she says quietly, hoping that he wouldn’t snap at her for owning a magical creature even though she was shitty at the course. “I got him when I was 12, saved him from my friends' cat. His name is Flik.” she rambled, before putting hand over her mouth. “Sorry, continue, I’ll shut up.”

Cassian was confident enough to say he could navigate the forest with his eyes closed and while he would usually have gotten to the clearing rather quickly, but being as he was sure the Gryffindor behind him had rarely, if ever, walked down the darkened path. “If you want my help you need to appreciate this.” He waved to the trees, knowing that despite the fact that they could’t be seen, the creatures within the Forbidden Forest were as close to them as they were to each other. “You need to understand that this is more than just a class, the creatures you’re studying are real and they deserve respect.” He then placed his own bag on the ground, adjusting his leather jacket before focusing back on her. “What do you find difficult about the class?”

Nesta sighed, she knew he was right. How could he not be? The star COMC student clearly had spent many days in the Forest studying with the creatures that Hagrid tried to cram into their heads. Looking around at their surroundings she nodded. She could understand that at least if anything at all. “I know I do,” she says quietly because although the class puzzled her in ways she couldn’t fathom never once had she not realized how important the environment she learned in was to really having a strong understanding. She wondered how many times a creature lurked behind her, but she knew that so long as she was with Cassian he’d make sure they both were safe. Listening silently she had to bite back to urge to ask him to not talk to her like she was being scolded, but she was sure this was just part of his schtick to make sure she was actually taking everything seriously. “I always get confused when he’s doing his demonstrations. I always stand in the front but I just feel like even when I ask questions they don’t get answered in a way that I understand. I just think I’m not understanding the information about the do’s and don’ts at all.” she bit the inside of her cheek nervously. “I’m sure that makes me sound like an utter idiot, doesn’t it?”

If he was being completely honest, before she had come to him in need for tutoring, Cassian had paid little to no attention to the daughter of Viktor Krum. It wasn’t until she had mentioned being his rival in Quidditch that he had even realized she had gone against him in the pitch, but now that she had introduced herself as a challenge of some sort he couldn’t help but feel as if it was a game within the game. He had spent the majority of the week focusing on the tasks his father had given him, as well as going to Rhysand for both advice and a distraction. It wasn’t until he glanced at his own Care of Magical Creatures homework that he remember he was to meet Nesta. He had planned on getting there before her in order to take some time to visit Hagrid and any new creature he had hidden within his hunt, but upon seeing the Gryffindor waiting for him outside he realized he wouldn’t get that luxury. “Hello Nesta.” He replied, not bothering to answer her question before adjusting his bag over his shoulder. “Lets get this over with.” Without another word he turned on his heels, heading straight to the Forbidden Forest in broad daylight. 

Nesta sighed as the boy walked past her, how foolish could she have been to think that the boy would actually acknowledge her in any other way. She picked up her bag beginning after the boy silently, praying to Merlin that this wouldn’t be the most painful studying session she’d ever done. She watched how confidently he strolled into the Forbidden Forest and she tried to match it, making sure to keep close enough in distance that she could see exactly where he disappeared into so she didn’t accidentally wander off. Finally, when they stopped, somewhere a nice distance into the forest she set her things down, rubbing her hands together to keep them warm. “So uh... what exactly are we looking at today?” she asks curiously as to why he’d decided this was where they would study.

A rush of amusement flowed through his body as the shorter female glared at him, a smirk now playing on his lips as he settled into a more juvenile mood. It was always a coin toss when it came to his moods. One side would be the raw Cassian, the one who loved nothing more than to crawl under peoples skin and cause mischief around every turn. The other side was the dark Cassian, the one who wanted nothing more than to curse and jinx and fight every person who dared approached him. “You should know that I’ll never make things easy.” He countered, shrugging her shoulders. At the mention of Quidditch his brow furrowed, however understanding was quick to wash over as he remembered that she had been one of his rivals during the matches; usually on the pitch he saw the other players as nothing more than pawns. “We have a deal then. I won’t be free until this weekend. You’ll have to wait until then.” With that he turned on his heels and marched back into the castle, without a single look back.

True to his word, Cassian had made sure to avoid her any way possible until the weekend. They’d bumped into each other once, on the pitch when Gryffindor was taking over the field for practice after Slytherin had finished. She hadn’t said anything, but she’d seen the way his eyes trailed over her. Today, was Saturday and she knew neither of them had anything to do either perhaps some training later in the day and whatever respective plans and was pleasantly surprised to receive a Patronus containing his voice telling her to meet him at Hagrid's after lunch. Dressed in her regular clothing she put her books into her school bag and began the trek over. When she saw that he wasn’t there yet she decided to make a quick stop  into Hagrid’s hut to say hello and give Fang a nice scratch between the ears, she sat for around 20 minutes, sipping a very strong but sweet cup of tea Hagrid offered and attempted to split a muffin with the half-giant before giving up all together. When she’d finished her tea and felt warm enough to face the cold she said her goodbyes. After she stepped out the back door she saw him. Walking up she placed her things down and cleared her throat. “Hi Cassian, how are you?” He looked different not dressed in his usual Slytherin robes and she had to keep herself from staring to long, but how had she not realized how attractive he was??

When the Gryffindor girl took a step away from him, his head tilted to the side, brow furrowing as adjusted his stature. It was a response he was used to and while it would have usually given him an overwhelming sense of pleasure, he found himself bothered by the action. Perhaps it was due to the fact that many students were avoiding him like the plague, especially since there had been rumors he was the one responsible for the sudden appearance of the aurors. “I agree.” He replied simply, arms lifting to cross over his chest as he once again looked her up and down.

Again, Cassian allowed her to ramble, jaw clenched shut as he waited for the proper moment to slide in with a response of his own. At the mention of his stoic and unfriendly demeanor he couldn’t help but smirk, head tilting back as he glanced around them before meeting her gaze once more. “Hi Nesta.” He mimicked her tone, a now playful gleam in his eyes. “As for the guidelines, you’ve got the first one down. This has to stay private. If anyone asks I was given the choice between tutoring you in potions or detention. Secondly, you have to work with my schedule. Lastly, you can’t be rambling every time I look at you. You’ll have to get over that.”

Nesta narrowed her eyes at him. “Don’t mock me, Cassian. I’m trying to be nice and you’re not exactly making this easy.” she snapped because clearly, he found her nervous rambling to be amusing. Not that she should be surprised based on what she knew from her friends. Huffing she listened to the remainder of the boys' guidelines and nodded. “Yeah, alright. I can do that, you just will have to let me know when you’re available because we have different schedules. And I’m not going to ramble when we’re studying, I’m serious about getting a good grade. And I meant what I said. We just have to get along until I’m steadily getting good grades and then you can stop talking to me and you can go back to being my rival in Quidditch and nothing more.” she says finally relaxing her stature, relieved that he was agreeing to help her.

Scorpius stole one last look behind them as the pair of the two stunned students as they moved away from the scene. If they hadn’t been harassing someone much smaller than themselves, Scorpius might of felt sorry for how pitiful they looked. Of course, he had to admit that he felt a strange sort of pride mixed in with the dread of the possible consequences of the situation. “Good.” He said absentmindedly before focusing back on the Krum girl.

He frowned slightly at not receiving the answer he’d hoped for. “Are you sure? They’d lose each of their houses a few hundred points at least and hopefully a years worth of detention or longer.” He considered what she’d said for a moment. If he’d been the confrontational type, he’d talk to them himself once their sorry asses woke up. His throat tightened as she explained the things the boys did to her, and his jaw clenched as he thought of how the situation may have escalated had someone not stepped in. “Disgusting.” He breathed, “I can’t blame you for freezing.” He tried to soften his voice as he could see the girl was very shaken. “Well, it’s going to be better now. And next time you see them,” He held his fist up and lightly ran it into his other open palm. “Give ‘em one of theme, straight into the nose. That might drive the point home, yeah?”

Nesta nodded. “Look, I might have the quidditch thing going for me and my dad being who he is but people don’t really like me. I don’t have many friends and that last thing I need is to be the bitch who told on her classmate and lost our house over a hundred points,” she said lowering her eyes. “One of the boys was in Gryffindor and him getting in trouble would be a consequence for my whole house. It’d be like a punishment to me too for turning them in. So I’m not sure what to do.” she says. She glanced up at the blonde and then lowered her eyes again trying to wash away the image in her mind of how badly that could have gone for her. “I know. And I’m grateful you came over. I didn’t think anyone would.” she says her own eyes shining with tears of relief. She let out a small laugh and nodded. “Yeah. Yeah I’ll make sure I kick them right between the legs next time too.”

Cassian gave her time to respond, the irritation slowly shifting into something else as he watched her calculate what she wished to say. He hadn’t given her the time to hold a conversation during their short interaction at the ball, too caught up in everything else that was going on, but now it seemed he had the time. “I’m not mad.” He said blankly, tilting his head to the side, as if he could ever be mad at the gentle man. He was, however, extremely annoyed at the fact that Hagrids careless mouth had gotten him into this situation. A low huff slipped past his lips as he pushed himself to his full height, gaze moving down as he came to his decision. 

“If I tutor you there will be guidelines. Guidelines that you will half to follow or I’ll end the sessions immediately. The last thing I need is another mess to clean up and if that’s what this is going to be then I will not help you.” It wasn’t until he realized that she said he made her nervous he paused, brow furrowing as he stared down at her. “This especially won’t work if I make you nervous.”

Nesta took a shaky step backward, holding her books to her chest. She wasn’t afraid of him, she’d met and seen men far larger and scarier than him, and her father wanted her to not be afraid of them because she always could think her way out of a situation. But even with the boy standing at his full height, almost as tall as her father she couldn’t help but feel a little concerned when the boy stood up. “Okay, well that’s good. “Alright, Guidelines, let me hear them,” she says with standing up straight. “I’m not an idiot I’m not going to let anyone know you’re little secret. Lucky for you I’m also not as a great at Potions as I should be so if the time comes I’ll just say you’re helping me with that. Or you can just think of something else.” she says with a huff. Nodding her head she cleared her throat. “Well if you didn’t look like you were going to rip my head off that might be a way to start.” And maybe if you weren’t so freaking gorgeous would help too. “Or maybe say, ‘Hi Nesta’? But anyway. Back to those guidelines.”

As the younger female began to ramble he found himself growing increasingly tired, suddenly wishing he had stuck in the common room despite how loud the others were being. Usually the mention of magical creatures would have struck his interest, even if he didn’t physically show it, but with all he had weighing on his shoulders it seemed that wouldn’t be the case this time. His brow furrowed as he allowed himself to take in the stature of the Gryffindor, noting his stiff she seemed as she spoke. “No, I really don’t.” He confirmed, making it clear that his patience was wearing thin and he wished for her to get to the point. Then once she got to it, he wished he could go back to her rambling.

Cassian had done his best to keep his interest in Care of Magical Creatures private, knowing it would do nothing but cause japes to be thrown at him, which would obviously end in a fight. Hagrid seemed to have known this, but it seemed no matter how found he was of the half-giant he would never be able to keep things he believe to be so simple from slipping his mind. “Of course he told you that,” he grumbled. “Why in Merlin’s name would I tutor you?”

This weird nervous feeling was something, unlike anything she felt before. At the ball with those two boys, she’d actually been fearful, because that sort of thing didn’t happen to girls like her. Normally boys like him would piss her off and drive her to the point where her accent would come flooding out and she’d probably curse at him in all three tongues. But somehow she was worried that this boy would be the one to always make her so nervous. “I-I  just..” she was at a lost for words. “He was just trying to be helpful, don’t be mad at him. he was bragging about how great you were and Hagrid doesn’t brag about people he doesn’t like,” she says although she was sure he probably already knew that.

“Please. I don’t want to ask anyone else. Hagrid only told me you, and if I don’t get at least an Acceptable, I’ll have to repeat the course. My father will make me drop quidditch and  I can’t stop playing. I’ll do whatever you want, just, please. I don’t talk as much when I’m studying either, I swear.. you just make me nervous. You’d talk, I’ll listen, I swear.”
