Was watching a Coteries playthrough yesterday, and I love this whole night with Qadir taking you to deal with your last ties to your human life is probably one of my favorite parts of the game.

He's such a complicated character in this game. It's why I fell in love with him. What Qadir does in this scene is such a kindness. And the way he reacts if you choose to thank him?

Oh, Qadir... Does it sting to be appreciated for anything other than your ruthless efficiency? Do you yearn for it? For the simplicity of human empathy?

In my idea for a chronicle gehenna has already happened, and the coterie (probably mostly made up of caitiff and thinbloods, as they're central to the whole gehenna plot thing), are tasked with hunting down pre-gehenna information from an old ruin - likely they work for a group tied to one of the factions if they still exist, or DOVECOTE, or something else entirely, and the "pre-gehenna relic" is literally just Beckett lying in torpor for all these years. Maybe the old man saw the beginning of the end of the world and thought, "welp, night-night time," or he'd been PUT into torpor, but either way getting him not to frenzy and eat the team would be a challenge in the beginning.

How he ended up in torpor is obviously revealed later on, but either way I can see this being a literal hell for him. Imagine spending hundreds of years studying the apocalypse only to find out you slept through the fucking thing. And what's worse, he's a historian and has nobody left to tell the story to that would care, other than the weak blooded losers who woke him up from his nap.

I'm writing this on and off but I'm hesitant to actually put it out there since this is my first time writing anything in the last like five years... :p

Extremely funny to me that when I play VtM in a tabletop setting, it's Camarilla as far as the eye can see. Across chronicles and locations, we've been given chances to make towns go Anarch and every time we've stuck with the Cam. However, in VtM video games, North America is Anarchs all the way down. LA? Anarch. Boston? Anarch. Tuscon and Seattle? Also Anarch. New York City is in this weird space of not not Anarch. Will Ottawa also be Anarch? Highly likely.

I do think the Bloodlines 1 was an excellent introduction to VTM politics in that most chronicles will have you, as a fledgling player, be heavily brainwashed towards Camarilla or Anarch bipartisan bullshit depending on the circumstances of your Embrace, but VTMB1 showed that Camarilla vs Anarch is largely a false dichotomy whose antagonism is largely a method of self-sustaining the other's existence and identity. They are the core and the periphery, but they're all still part of one system. Vampires in both factions share the same interests, concerns, and structures just with different trappings. The real "outsiders" aren't Anarchs — it's the Sabbat, the Kuei Jin, and the Autarkis like Beckett and possibly the player character.
