Headcanon: D.Va's family.
Since we don't have any information about Hana's family in the current Canon, I decided to share my own vision about it:
We had some previous comments about her family in the past coming from Michael Chuu, like Hana's father being an ex-professional gamer like herself, and that she had support from both her parents.
But, I wanted to implement this and make it more... Angst? Or deeper into her characterization.
I imagine her father being much like herself: competitive, an ace, loves winning, etc - someone who taught her to love games and introduced her into her career.
Coming all from my mind, though, I headcanon her mother as a flourist. Someone gentle and kind, whom taught her the right and influenced her into always wanting to help people.
Both also comes from why her name is Hana: "One" in Korean, choice from her father. But it also means flower and blossom, from her mother's choice - in Japanese, yes, but that doesn't mean I headcanon her as also Japanese, only the meaning, by the way.
D.Va had a pretty normal childhood with love and support from her family, perhaps even a bit "spoiled" from being an only child; and annoying Dae-hyun ever since they met, back then. That's, until her sixteen birthday...
Hana left Busan to play the mundial championship of Mecha Guardian V. She won, and everyone nows that. People just doesn't know that the day that she won her biggest title, she also lost the most important thing for her:
Her parents.
There was an unwarned Gwishin attack. They took her family and another thousands of the population that day.
Not much later, she entered the army and turned into one of the best pilots in the Mobile Exo-Force, promising to herself that she would never let that happen to anyone ever again.
In some kind of survivor's guilt, I think that brings much more depth into why Hana feels so much pressure and responsibility in protecting her country - and, later, the world, along with Overwatch - to the point of forgetting her own needs, and that she's not the only one fighting this war.
End.
