When the game drags you back in 😩
When the new skins make you want to keep all the hatchings
Well... She's flawless
Bust commission for Bluefire7991 on FR. I had a lot of fun with this one and went a little beyond “bust,” but it turned out SO GOOD HHHH. They requested a transparent bg but the dark bg with the glow really brings it all together!
Hubble the star-obsessed coatl for moonpiebandit
Might wanna turn down your candle there so you can see ‘em better, buddy :)

Lightning Flight and the Stormcatcher Re-imagined:
I LOVE being in Lightning flight. I love the desert aesthetic and the attitudes of the dragons who live devoted to the Stormcatcher. However, I don’t really like the on site/forum aesthetic of my flight. I find it difficult to want to be involved with the on site shenanigans because of the “Bossman” and Corporate feel of the flight. While it’s understandable when the FR canon has “employees” in the actual lore, I find it very jarring from the rest of the feel of the game. Something about the modern, overly industrial feel of the flight doesn’t vibe with me. I know that it’s perfect for some people, and to you I say awesome! I totally understand the allure of futuristic cyberpunk dragons, steampunk dragons, and robot dragons. But for my own sake and lore, which is a very post-apocalyptic, scavenging based lore, and the sake of anyone out there who wants a Lightning flight that doesn’t feel so dramatically more modern than the other flights, here is my re-imagined and personal head canon of Lightning.
As we know, the Stormcatcher was created during a grueling battle between the Tidelord and the Windsinger. This is interesting to me because he was one of the first deities to be birthed from the actions of other Deities. He came into this world irritated with the petty chaos the others were causing. It is also mention that the tempests were created during his birth, and they clearly all landed in the Shifting Expanse where the largest Tempest resides.
I find it odd that the Tempests would have been created by such an intense magical burst and just happen to look like mechanical or industrial made structures. I imagined the Tempests to have been created by coalesced bolts of Lightning magic that reigned down onto what is now the Shifting Expanse. The power of these magical electrical bolts might have been attracted to the most ore and metal rich patches of ground, and upon impact fused and pulled the metals into a magically created structure. Something that doesn’t always look natural, but something that doesn’t look manufactured either. I did some quick sketches of what I imagine the spires to look like, along with some names the dragons in my lore call the different formations.
I’ll probably do a secondary post detailing my lore for what these different Spires are used for.
Obviously Tempests are the largest of the Spires, just like in the onsite lore. The largest being THE Tempest Spire. During the time before Dragonkind the Spires were industrialized by whoever lived before them. However their relics are old, dusty, rusted and mostly scrap. The Dragons who scavenge from these remains are cunning though, and use them to create all sorts of inventions. I would assume that of all the dragons, Lightning dragons take the most interest in the technology of the races who lived here before them.
When I read the quote onsite about Stormcatcher “bellowing instructions” to his “employees” I cringed a little bit, because I feel like Stormcatcher has more potential than to just be a angry yelling boss figure. Perhaps his bellowing instructions are actually the thunderclaps and lightning strikes that happen constantly around the Tempest Spire. His energy is in raw form there, and the dragons who follow him consider the booming thunder to be his voice.
This passage in the canon lore also leads me to believe that of all the deities, Stormcatcher may be one of the ones most involved with his followers. I can’t help but imagine a devout lightning farm clan who hadn’t seen a storm in months, who may be starving due to lack of work, making offerings and praying to him, and one day hearing a rumble and seeing the Stormcatcher himself bringing a crackling storm to their region of the desert. His booming voice a bolt of lighting that brings power back to their station. Without a second look he is on his way, leaving the electric storm for his worshipers to harvest.
In the eyes of Stormcatcher, the worse thing a dragon could be is complacent and lazy. His storms may be a gift, or it could be a warning. Perhaps a clan of dragons has become docile and stagnant, ignoring the true calling of a Lightning clan, and one day the Stormcatcher brings to them a storm as well. For a prepared and adaptable clan, it would be a welcome sight, for a ill-prepared clan, it could mean death.
The Stormcatcher is demanding and unemphatic to lazy dragons, he expects hard work, cunning, and the ability to overcome great challenges. He passes harsh but not unfair judgement. He is a stoic god who expects excellence, diligence and motivation from his followers.
For many dragons he is a symbol to look to when one needs to be reminded of their true potential, and that they must find the will to survive and prosper within themselves even in the darkest times. Stormcatcher is a stark realist, and will give you blunt answers to your questions. We will not make you feel warm and fuzzy, but he might light a fire under your ass to get you moving and where you need to be.
