I was there
during the "skinny chic" era - which also was funnily enough the era of the Video Vixens, who were definitely not skinny chic. And I was beyond of age watching the false body positivity era that was really the "BBL/gym body or die" era; the reign of Kim Kardashian. And guess what? Both eras looked the same. Every time has been ever as before - women torturing themselves to fit into an ideal that they can never keep up with and papering over it with words like "wellness," "self care" and "health." Whether it was abs or a phat ass, big breasts or a tiny waist, it's never changed.
So I'm getting tired of people wringing their hands over the return of skinny chic. How about we really make a concerted effort to actually promote loving our bodies and doing what we want to do for our physical and mental health sometime? I know. Total fantasy.
Nancy Friedland (Canadian, 1971) - Okay Okay (2025)
Isabella Wei as Posy Li in BRIDGERTON season 4
I was
about to choose violence but I'm just gonna keep it cute.
I loved this season of Bridgerton. That's all.
You're not "too much" for a man who actually likes you.
i'm not buying no damn moola 😭😭😭😭
Isn’t it kind of fun how when your life sucks you just can’t talk about it with anyone
I’m serious though. When your life reaches a degree of suckage, you find yourself having to look elsewhere for anything at all to talk about. The things going on in your life are trauma dumping. Your past is probably also trauma dumping. So you have to get really weird about specific things or hope that others want to talk to you, because very quickly people are going to develop an aversion to you and the way your life sucks. Unless you just don’t talk about it
It’s socially isolating, which is dangerous—when you’re in this sort of situation, community is the difference between life and death, housing and homelessness.
I think the collective prioritization of comfort first is hurting people in a real and material sense
okay. i just think that Black ppl shouldn’t be expected to “gracefully” handle being called racial slurs to accommodate anyone. in a moment meant to be a celebration of their accomplishments at an awards show with a history of racism & exclusion no less. words have effect regardless of intent, it doesn’t magically negate harm. and had michael & delroy reacted differently they would not be given the same understanding.
I have never seen Adventure Time
and never wanted to, but I watched a YouTube video essay about how Jake x Lady Rainicorn are an example of a healthy couple, created by a man. And then sat through an essay that seemed to be all about the times Jake was being messy and Lady Rainicorn just kinda supported him through it and accepted it.
And it just got me thinking about how Hello Future Me tried to make it seem like Zutara is a fantasy while Kataang is much more healthy, and how a lot of Kataang is disproportionately Katara supporting Aang through his messiness and accepting it.
And that pisses me off because it seems like guys' interpretation of a healthy relationship is girl lets me be messy and stupid and just supports me through it and accepts it.
So was there ever an episode in Adventure Time when Lady Rainicorn was having a stupid/insecure moment and Jake supports her through it and accepts it?
I'm just getting tired of this narrative of healthy relationships from men when it seems like very few of them have the capacity to carry women through their vulnerability.
writing tip #4064:
characters should ONLY make healthy choices! NO ONE wants to read about someone who doesn't start their day with a big ol' bowl of wheat bran
Still trying
to keep it cute in 2026, especially in these internet streets.
Watch my shows. Reblog I like. Bitch and moan about my own stuff. Treat the rest like a cigarette, as Leikeli47 would say - puff, PASS.
That's the good shit.
hey guys can you develop more complex nuanced loving views of yourselves. thanks.

POSY LI and SOPHIE BAEK BRIDGERTON (2020 - )
We know Bridgerton is written by women for women bc no girl in that show is sucking a single dick. Every woman is either getting fingerblasted to oblivion or their coochie ate like a five-course meal.
