Summary:
When Jack rushed off, distracted by a dog walking past, Chanda leaned in.
“How did it go with the League?” She whispered.
“There was an accident.” He whispered back, “A gateway split their jet in half. Rosie and Arj are probably just stuck in another realm. There’s a mission leaving on Monday to look for them, I’ve asked to be on it.”
She glanced over at Jack, who was excitedly petting the dog and asking questions of the owner with a grin on his face, “He won’t be happy to hear you’re leaving.”
“It’ll only be a day trip.” He made a face, “He’ll be fine.”
She pursed her lips, “I’m not so sure. I could barely drag him out of the Hotel this morning. He kept asking when you were coming back.”
Guilt dumped on Jupiter like an ice bucket, “It’ll be fine.” He repeated, “It’s just one mission, we’ll probably find Rosie and Arj, then everything will go back to normal.”
