Hey guys, thanks so much for supporting Dock Town Noir. I'm so appreciative of the love, kudos and comments and now that it's coming to an end I wanted to just give thanks.
I've been on a journey trying to get a commission done, but all the artists I contacted were so busy most of them had closed. BUT my number 1 choice got back to me and I can't thank @yelenhol enough for this amazing work.
Please check them out, they are phenomenal and so talented.
Check out the full work under the cut! I was so proud of this scene, I'm so excited to see it come to life.
Many thanks for the tags, this week and last week, from @juniper-and-dragonthorn, @davrinsleftpectoral, and @woundedsoul12!
I’ll offer some gentle tags, if folks want them and haven’t gone already, to: @bygonesigh, @mageofquandrix, @hyperions-light, @ofcrowsanddragons, @mythals-whore, @grimrevolution, @natsora, @sandcastlekings, @hedwigoprah, @blackwall-my-tiny-husband, @bronzieinthedas, @shadowed-rook, @bestboyargos, @the-sparrohawk, @justskipit, @becausedragonage, @jouskaroo, and @nevesserialwriter, and anyone who wants to!
If you haven’t been tagged yet and wanna be? I’VE tagged you.
I’ve been going through some future stuff for TVJ, so below the cut is what I was cleaning up most recently!
As the tailor turned Rook this way and that, and while his cousins bickered, it occurred to him that the easier plan might’ve been breaking into the Imperator’s party.
For one thing, he might not have needed formal clothes; he was always mildly concerned he’d get tangled up in them.
Rook mourned his simple tunic and trousers.
For another, he wouldn’t have spent the last week with Sabine pecking at him like an agitated bird. His clothes weren’t fine enough, but without time for custom clothing to be made he was forced to purchase some and have them altered. The fabric color was wrong for his eyes. What was he going to do about his hair, or his beard? He was already an embarrassment to the family (which, okay, yes, but bringing it up over and over felt like a little much), he’d better not embarrass her worse.
And, of course, Livinia was always there to chime in and needle her — usually in his defense, at least — which generally meant he’d spent a week feeling like a dog toy being fought over by a mischevious Nevarran canis lupus familiarus and an angry Ferelden mabari. It was loud, he’d been spat on (accidentally) at least three times, and he felt stretched to near breaking.
He was grateful for his cousins’ help, he really was. But between the poor sleep he’d been getting, the strain of quietly sitting alone observing people he didn’t particularly care for day-in and day-out, and being one more thing for Sabine and Livvy to fight over — he was ready to leap out of his skin.
“Is that even sitting on him right?” Sabine snapped, glaring imperiously down at the tailor.
Rook made a mental note to pay him extra. The Sabine Tax.
She turned on Rook, “You look different; what, did you gain weight?”
“In the last seven years, eating meals rather than rations, and going from twenty-four to thirty-one years old?” He asked, cocking an eyebrow. Livvy smirked behind her sister. “I’d hope so, wouldn’t you?”
“I think he’s gained muscle, too,” Livvy offered. “Even if he’s too secretive to tell us how or why.”
“You try doing odd jobs with no physical skills and get back to me,” he shot back.
“It fits him quite well,” the tailor offered kindly, finishing up his inspection. “We hardly altered it at all; I almost feel bad charging for it.”
“It’s not a pro—”
“Then why did you?” Sabine asked snidely.
Rook decided that after this he was going to need a stiff drink. Or six.
Many thanks to @mythals-whore, @juniper-and-dragonthorn, @sandcastlekings, @serialsforbellara, and @iamsuperconfused for the tags! I’m excited to share!!
I know I’m late to the game, and have no idea who has done this already, so I’ll give out some very optional tags to: @hyperions-light, @ofcrowsanddragons, @bygonesigh, @mageofquandrix, @becausedragonage, @davrinsleftpectoral, @introvertedfangrl, @uchidachi, @jouskaroo, @himluv, @the-sparrohawk, @grimrevolution, @bronzieinthedas, @shadowed-rook, @aetherflowers, @antivan-sprig, @curiouswisp, @flowersforthemachines, @tarasmom, @justskipit, @skullypettibone, @nevesserialwriter, @natsora, @woundedsoul12, and anyone else who wants to share. If you want tagged? I’ve tagged you!
I, uh, I may be unhinged? I don’t think anyone is surprised. But here is the veritable pile of things I’m working on below the cut to spare the dash:
Short Term:
Taash Week Fic - Locking in to finish this so that it can go up during @datvcompanionweeks Taash Week 2026. For gold and glory!
A Troubling Case (the Modern AU (tm)), Chapter 3 - This is written, and @juniper-and-dragonthorn kindly alpha read it for me, so now I’m editing and revising it before sending it to beta. I’m…I’m scared y’all. This leads us into the plotty plotness of it all, and yes I do have it (loosely) mapped out, but…th fear is real.
Dorian fic - Writing this one for @mageofquandrix! It’s in the process of being outlined, and then the fun begins.
Alt LI Answers - Oh, I have NOT forgotten these *steeples fingers* don’t you worry.
Mid-Term:
Next Chapter of The Ventus Job - This chapter (and several after) is fully written, but I need to get some shorter deadline stuff out before I can finishing revising/editing and send it to beta.
More A Troubling Case/TMAU - Chapter Four is half written, and all of the fic is outlined, so once I clear some stuff off my plate, we will be diving into THE PLOT! (Pray for me.)
The Ambassador and the Spy (Josie/Leliana) - Several of these vignettes are already written. I’m currently filling in some gaps and then will begin revising/editing/tormenting betas.
Long Term:
Neve Week 2026 - It’s not anytime soon, but if I wasn’t a little weirdo about it I wouldn’t be modding it.
Scene in a Box - I return to this whenever I’m feeling stuck elsewhere, so it’s seen some decent progress. When it grows up it will be a very long one-shot.
Neve/Davrin fic - That’s right, all my working on my Davrin Week prequel fic got me spitballing this pairing with @grimrevolution and now I will never be free of it.
Coffee Shop AU - Another one I poke at when I’m stuck, and I’m excited to see where it leads me.
Hanahaki fic - Look, sometimes I’m full of bad ideas okay? We will find out together if a Neve POV Hanahaki fic is one of them.
Vague Mental Flutterings:
Mass Effect post-trilogy fic - I’ve written snippets of this in response to prompts, so now it’s caught some of the raccoons’ attention.
MEA fic? - Another very nebulous idea, but I find the Ryder twins to be really interesting characters, so there may be something here.
ME/DAI crossover? - I wrote…one? One and a half?…some amount of this back in the day, and that little hook hasn’t freed me, so who knows?
Many thanks to @woundedsoul12 and @davrinsleftpectoral for the tags!
I’ll give some gentle tags, if they want to join in, out to: @hyperions-light, @ofcrowsanddragons, @juniper-and-dragonthorn, @bygonesigh, @mageofquandrix, @mythals-whore, @jouskaroo, @grimrevolution, @natsora, @justskipit, @skullypettibone, @sandcastlekings, @hedwigoprah, @andthekitchensinkao3, @flowersforthemachines, @nevesserialwriter, @serialsforbellara, and anyone else who wants to play!
Genuinely, if you want to play, I have officially tagged you, and if you tag me in your post I’ll come shout about your stuff!
I’ve been going over the next, hopefully soon to be posted, chapter of A Troubling Case (aka The Modern AU (tm)) [thank you @juniper-and-dragonthorn for all your help]! So I have some of that (still being edited) below the cut:
“What about them?” She asked.
“Two things,” Rook said, and Neve realized as she glanced over at him that his usual humor was gone, replaced with a focused determination. “First, this shipping code here, I’ve seen it before. And not related to ‘eau de toillette’—” he pronounced it as toilet, and Neve felt her lips curl up despite herself.
“— but on a manifest for raw building materials. At least allegedly,” he continued. “Those manifests were in Nessus, where I busted up the slave ring. Second thing, the port of entry in that case was Ventus too.”
He turned to face her seriously. “Whatever these cultists are doing…I think they’re illegally importing slaves as part of it. But that warehouse…I don’t think they’re there. There weren’t any live guards. And I’ve never seen a slave holding area without them.”
“So where did they go?” Neve mused, looking down at the codes he’d indicated. The weights listed would mean dozens of people, easily, all smuggled in illegally. “And why do they need them?”
- I tag you! Alternatively, you see this post and take my open invitation/tag. If you want to be added to the tag list, reply to or reblog this post letting me know!
-You either reblog this post and add something you're working on OR you make your own post with something your working on (and tag me in it) and I'll share it back here and leave a comment! It can be any kind of WIP you want, and it can be for any fandom or original work you like!
That's it, but please make sure to keep it before midnight! I do not keep track of these posts after the day they are published. If you miss this one, don't worry, you can always jump in next Thursday!
Also, if you're looking to share work that is finished/currently being published, please do so during my Bio(ware)feedback event.
Of course, the taglist is non-binding lol, so feel free to skip whenever you want, and if you decide you'd rather be taken off, no hard feelings, just lmk!
Thanks so much for the game and all you do, @hyperions-light! And thanks to @davrinsleftpectoral and @alystrin03 for tagging me in WIP Wednesday!
Okay, so I’m slow and behind on around 99 things, because life just is that way right now, but! But! I wrote some things!
First, I’ve got some more of my Unauthorized Davrin Prequel for @datvcompanionweeks Davrin Week, which takes late submissions like mine will be. I’m in the end game now, probably around 2-3k works left to write and I’m excited.
Then! I’ve been editing the next chapters of The Ventus Job, my post-game Neverook fic, and A Troubling Case (aka The Modern AU (tm)).
Don’t worry @hyperions-light, you don’t need to comment on them all, I’m just excited.
And although I’m late, I will tag: @ofcrowsanddragons, @bygonesigh, @juniper-and-dragonthorn, @mageofquandrix, @mythals-whore, @grimrevolution, @jouskaroo, @andthekitchensinkao3, @himluv, @seaglassmelody, @woundedsoul12, @justskipit, @nevesserialwriter, @serialsforbellara, and @natsora, and anyone else who wants to participate! If you wanna play, I’ve tagged you too.
Unauthorized Davrin Prequel (Forging A New Path)
“Did you tell him how to write to you?” Antoine asked as they rode across the Orlesian border with Nevarra.
Davrin shook his head. “No. What would be the point?”
“Romance! Intimacy!” Antoine exclaimed. “Connection, mon ami!”
Davrin rolled his eyes. “So that it can end worse later? He should find someone who will stay, and…” he gestured at the Warden armor the two of them wore, “that’s not exactly possible here.”
When he looked over, Antoine’s expression was tolerantly amused. “I am married, you know.”
“You don’t say,” Davrin said dryly. Antoine raised an eyebrow in challenge, and Davrin argued, “That’s different, that’s—”
He noticed the corners of Antoine’s lips curling up, and laughed. “This is why I don’t tell you things.”
The Ventus Job
This was so much more boring than he’d even feared. Sure, he’d said he’d be fine when Rana had told them some of their contacts in Minrathous would only talk to Neve. He’d even reiterated it when she’d seemed torn, admittedly probably more for his sake than because there was any answer for Neve other than “I’ll be there” when Minrathous needed her.
And of course he’d say it again if he needed to to assuage Neve’s conscience or nerves.
But he knew it for the lie it was now; she had been gone less than a day, and he already felt like his skin was filled with ants. He’d never done solitude particularly well. It gave him too much time to think.
Rook strapped on his armor and grabbed his weapons before tucking his letters into the pocket of his leather outer coat. Sitting and dwelling wouldn’t make her work in Minrathous go any faster, and it wouldn’t get his job done either. Might as well keep moving forward.
A Troubling Case/the Modern AU (tm)
“I promise they’re clean,” Rook said, pulling her abruptly out of her mental reverie.
Neve blinked in confusion. “What?”
His eyes narrowed on her playfully, lips curling into a sly smile. “My boxers.”
Venhedis. She hoped the flush creeping up the back of her neck wasn’t noticeable.
“That you felt the need to say that is concerning,” she said dryly. He snickered, and Neve picked up her half-empty box of cigarettes. “Mind if I smoke?”
He tilted his head as he thought, gaze on her steady. Neve was glad her interruption had worked, and he’d been successfully deterred from any further discussion of his tightly fitted boxer-briefs.
It had been one thing to idly acknowledge his attractiveness when he’d been the maintenance guy she’d see once a year. It was another now that he was a fellow Shadow Dragon and she’d somehow spent the last two days with him.
“How long you planning on living here?” Rook asked. Neve cocked an eyebrow at the seeming non-sequitur.
“Why?”
He shrugged. “See, if you’re going to stay here as long as the landlord’s willing to keep your lease going, I’ve got some time before I’ll have to do smoke remediation,” he explained. “But if you’re leaving in three months or something…”
Neve chuckled. “So you’re seeing if you’ll be able to put off the work?”
Rook grinned. “Constantly. I mean, within reason.”
“I’m not giving up my lease anytime soon. I’m not sure your boss knows what the market rate is, based on what he’s charging,” she assured him.
His small smile was amused, to her eyes, but he didn’t disagree. “Then by all means, it’s your house. And your lungs, I guess, that you’re destroying.”
Neve has spent weeks convincing herself she can keep Ivy at arm’s length.
As a distraction, nothing more.
But a simple trip to the Cornucopia forces her to face what she’s been avoiding.
She knows Ivy can see through every excuse.
With the lunar change approaching and the inevitability of sending the elf away; Neve must decide if she’s willing to get it out of her system or if its far safer to just want from a distance.
Preview under the cut:
Muted light pooled beneath a canvas awning that displayed dress’s in several jewel toned shades and of course, the emerald hue of a thin strapped number had drawn the elf’s attention.
“A little thin for this weather don’t you think?” Neve drawled as she tried not to picture how it would look on her.
Alluring, most likely.
Ivy bit her lip as she considered it, then signed, I could wear it around the house.
Neve’s grip tightened on her cane, though her expression stayed neutral as she nodded and gestured for the vendor to set it aside.
Further down were the more delicate offerings and she felt the hesitation in her companions stride as they slowed.
I… I need underclothes. I’ve run low and washing them so often will ruin them.
“I can step away,” she offered immediately, but warm fingers tightened around her sleeve before she could take a full step.
A pause followed, long enough for the market noise to blur.
Stay. The next sign came slower, but more purposeful. Help me pick out some?
Well… this was unexpected.
Neve’s eyes darted about the offerings laid out and eventually landed on red silk.
Clearing her throat, she waved her hand over the lot almost carelessly.
“These are… these.”
The vendor looked between them with a small smile. “All of the colors?”
Little shit was pushing for the up-sell.
“Yes.” She gritted out, already producing the coins and the carriage location on a piece of paper. “Wrap it up, that’ll be all.”
From the corner of her vision, she could see Ivy was looking at her again, curiosity and something softer lingering in her expression.
They had been at odds barely a month ago—every interaction edged and sharp—but now Ivy asked for her opinion.
Shaping choices around Neve’s own preferences.
It was dangerous territory.
Again, she was reminded of the lunar change a little over a week away and the ship to carry away her distractions wouldn’t arrive for one more after.
Desire had a way of creeping in disguised as comfort and she was uncomfortably aware of how close they were skating the line.
Time would stretch precariously between those upcoming events and she still hadn’t worked out how to explain any of it without breaking what had been quietly developing.
Was it a fools hope to think she could send them away without them hating her?
Yes. The spirit answered from inside her head.
She was so lost in her thoughts, she missed the moment she had been guided off the main path and slipped between a row of carriages that lined the causeway.
Her eyes narrowed at the royal seal, about to comment that maybe this wasn’t the place to rest when fingers brought her chin down to claim her attention.
Am I being too forward?
Even in sign, embarrassment and shyness could be gleamed and it had her take Ivy by the waist before she could think better of it.
“No,” she breathed as she gently turned and pressed her to the wall behind them.
Still, there was hesitation in the elf’s fingers before she continued.
Not forward enough?
“Bold little thing.” Neve chuckled and then braced a hand to the stone just to give herself some restraint.
Hazel eyes lifted to meet hers before hips pressed closer with purposeful intent. There was a low sound that rumbled out as Neve pressed back instinctively and let her nose trace the warm line of her slender neck.
“Maker help us,” she muttered against soft skin. “What are we doing?”
The scent of orange blossom curled through her thoughts and she pulled back just enough to see the confidence in those moving hands temper into something tentative.
Does it have to be something? Can’t it just be fun?
“Nothing ever is—” Neve moaned just her hand was guided down and brushed against even warmer skin between supple thighs. “Things have a tendency to get complicated when I’m involved.”
Many thanks to @juniper-and-dragonthorn and @alystrin03 for the tags and their awesome works!
I am late in the game, but I believe in self-promo at any and all times, so I’ll offer gentle tags to: @hyperions-light, @ofcrowsanddragons, @bygonesigh, @dymme, @mageofquandrix, @davrinsleftpectoral, @mythals-whore, @grimrevolution, @jouskaroo, @serialsforbellara, @woundedsoul12, @hedwigoprah, @blackwall-my-tiny-husband, @becausedragonage, @natsora, @justskipit, @andthekitchensinkao3, @skullypettibone, @nevesserialwriter, and anyone else who wants to show off some of their stuff!
Good or bad, everything I’ve written is one of my babies, but I’ll single out two of them:
The Getting Into Trouble series has a special place in my heart because it got me back into writing fanfic, and it’s just very warm and fuzzy to me.
It’s a one-shot Neverook series of missing scene fics that takes place during and just after the events of Dragon Age: the Veilguard. It’s in chronological order on the series page, but I actually prefer reading it in the order it was posted.
Notes: ratings vary by piece, check the tags, some fics are NSFW. The precursor to The Ventus Job, which is still in progress.
And
A Troubling Case aka The Modern AU (tm) is just…so much fun to write. It’s my first foray into writing an AU, and it is letting me play with world building in a way I never expected to love. Shock of shocks, this one is also a Neverook work and has a two chapters up with a third, fingers-crossed, coming soon.
Thanks so much for the tag, @juniper-and-dragonthorn! Is it still Valentine’s Day? No, no it is not. But I’m still eating my Valentine’s Day candy (look, y’all, my husband @mageofquandrix is real cute okay), so I’m counting it!
I’ll give out some very gentle and optional tags to: @ofcrowsanddragons, @bygonesigh, @dymme, @mageofquandrix, @hyperions-light, @mythals-whore, @davrinsleftpectoral, @jouskaroo, @nevesserialwriter, @justskipit, @serialsforbellara, @woundedsoul12, @bestboyargos, @officialnostradamus, @sersmuttingtoniii, @desperatejoys, @the-sparrohawk, and @aetherflowers. And you! If you’re reading this, please join in if you feel so inclined and consider yourself tagged by me!
I, uh, I write a lot of goofy/sappy/cheesy romance stuff. Too much? That is in the eye of the beholder. But a lot. I struggled to keep it to this number, which would be embarrassing if I’d ever developed a functioning sense of shame.
Luckily, I haven’t! But to spare folks dashes, my romance snippets are below the cut!
From Best Mistake (Neve/Rook, one-shot, rated E)
Neve gave him a meaningful look. “Aren’t you going to walk me to my room?”
His eyes lit up. “Yep! Uh huh. Sure am,” Rook said, nodding rapidly. He was casual as he walked her to her room. Too casual, really, though Neve wasn’t sure many would notice even if they were awake.
As soon as he’d followed her through her door and shut it behind him, Neve had his tunic back in her hands, pushing him up against the solid wood. She leaned up and in to kiss him again without preamble. He slid down the door, just slightly, and her heart swelled as she realized he was trying to reduce any strain on her neck.
Charming and sweet. No wonder she couldn’t resist.
From Fifth Date (Neve/Rook, one-shot, rated T)
Neve caught his eye and, glass to her lips, took a very slow sip. He swallowed in response. “Are you telling me you wait until the fifth date to kiss a girl?”
“Nope. But I’d wait until the twentieth date to kiss Neve Gallus, if that’s what she wanted.”
From Tempting Fate (Neve/Rook, one-shot, rated T)
Neve ran her fingers gently over the dark spot at the base of his neck, and felt a foreign but warm and possessive pleasure at the fact she’d marked him. Mine, she thought. For now, her own caution added. Forcing herself not to react as he let out a stuttering sigh, and instead focus on his question, she said, “Perfect.”
“Did you spell out your name, or…?”
She arched an eyebrow at him. “Afraid you might forget who you b—,” Neve skidded to a mental halt as she realized what she had nearly said. “Who I am?”
His gaze was intense as it met hers. “Never.”
From A Good Thing (Neve/Rook, one-shot, rated T)
Rook met her eyes seriously. “These things take time. I’m not trying to…rush anything, to rush you.” She could hear the earnestness of his promise. “You’re still completely in charge; I’ll follow your plan.”
Neve raised an eyebrow. His unfailing trust in her always pierced her heart, but this was farther than he’d ever taken it.
“And if I don’t have a plan?” She half-joked.
The look he gave her was arresting. “Then I’ll follow you anyway.”
From Cool. Calm. Collected. (Neve/Rook, 6 chapters, rated T)
Rook reached down and pulled out another piece of parchment, sliding it across the table.
Stipulatio, was written across the top.
Neve let out a soft sound of shock, and didn’t even bother to read the rest before looking back up.
Moving so quickly that if she’d blinked she’d have missed it, Rook came around to her side of the table, resting on his knees to put them face to face. His hands fiddled with a small box, and Neve heard her blood pounding through her veins as her heart tried to beat out of her chest.
When they locked eyes, his expression intense in a way that stole her breath, Neve was certain he could see into her soul.
“Will you agree to it?” He asked softly. She heard the wooden box open, and looked down at it. And at the ring nestled inside. “Will you marry me?”
She couldn’t have stopped herself if she’d wanted to. And she didn’t even try, flinging her arms around him and hugging him tight.
The betrothal contract lay forgotten on the floor.
I’ve written more — so much more — that could be classified as cheesy or sappy romance, but I’ll cut myself off there for all of our sakes.
I hope that everyone who celebrates it had a great Valentine’s Day!
Tagged by: @justskipit, thank you this seems very fun!
Tagging: With no obligations, @nevesserialwriter, @iamsuperconfused, anddd anyone who wants to share (tag me so I can see!)
Rules: post 5 random facts about your OC. It can be fun or tragic, spicy or not, short or long, with or without explanation, fascinating or mundane, your choice.
I'm going to go with Tel, my main Rook, and S'vari Lavellan, my canon Inquisitor.
Warden Tel Laidir
Tel loves animals, just absolutely adores them. If she had a chance to settle down and not be traveling all over the place, she would have a small menagerie in her house. She spends a lot of time with Assan when she can.
The name Tel is the elvhen word for “Not”. Her name was chosen by her mother as Tel was distinctly unwanted as a child and truly she was Not meant to be born. Tel has done a lot of work to reclaim her name from that negative root.
Tel used to use a two-handed great sword before she lost her eye. After that she re-trained to a sword and shield.
Tel has been through several different groups before settling with the Grey Wardens. She was an elf in the Denerim Alienage before the Fifth Blight, a Halla Keeper in training in a Dalish clan, a house slave and then a ship slave in Tevinter, and a Lord of Fortune before she made the decision to join the Grey Wardens. She kept the last name of the Lords of Fortune as a thanks of giving her the space to find herself.
Despite all of the tragedy in her life, Tel has a tendency to be snarky and quick-witted. She usually has a joke on standby and takes things as they come with a decidedly chipper attitude. Unless you really plumbed into her background, something Tel is decidedly guarded about, you wouldn’t really know the amount of loss and sorrow she has undergone.
Inquisitor S’vari Lavellan Montilyet
S’vari is much more of a summer elf, better suited to the warmer climates near the seaside. The freezing cold nature of Haven and Skyhold were hell for her, and she spent much of her time there bundled up or in front of a fire.
S’vari has lighting-shaped scars in several places on her body left over from where her storm magic went awry in the Winter Palace after Solas removed the anchor. They are pale enough that they usually can’t be seen unless she is in the right lighting. It is very apparent to the people that were also there on that horrible night such as Josephine and Cassandra
S’vari initially believed that Solas was just bullshitting her on the nature of the Evanuris, after all he had lied about most other things why would he tell the truth now? It took her a long time to realize that this one time he had actually spoken the truth. It made her all the more mad at him.
If S’vari had her druthers, she would spend the rest of her life being a stay-at-home mother for her and Josie’s children. But the world has further need of her, and she has a duty to fulfill. No matter how much she hates it.
When at home S’vari usually doesn’t use a prosthetic for her missing arm, unless there is something that she needs to do specifically. When she does end up needing to use a prosthetic, she vastly prefers to use a twin-hook replacement, rather than a fake hand, for its utility. She does have a very fancy fake hand that she uses for formal events/for public appearances but doesn’t find it terribly helpful for much more than looks.
Rules: make a post with all of the WIPs you are bringing into the new year with you! and tell us a bit about them 🥰
Tagged by: @natsora, thank you friend!
A gentle tag with no obligations to: @nevesserialwriter, and @iamsuperconfused (apologies if y’all have done this already, I’ve been offline a bit!)
For my WIP’s, I almost always have my complete works pre-written before I start posting and I’m usually only working at one thing at a time or my brain gets it’s wires crossed. So!
My one active WIP is tentatively titled, For One Day Soon.
This will be the final piece for the Dawn Will Come series (shameless self-promo), which covers the aftermath of Trespasser.
As this is the final piece of a full series, Josephine Montilyet and S’vari Lavellan have been through the wringer over the course of the series, from Tranquility to kidnapping to bloodshed and loss.
This part deals more with the aftermath of all of those events, whether it be Josephine dealing with her newly acquired disability, S’vari dealing with overwhelming guilt, or their dear friend Cassandra Pentaghast trying to keep everyone’s shit together. Things are thrown even more askew by the arrival of Josephine’s mother, Claudia Montilyet.
I’m nearing the end of the first draft, and then just editing remains :D
After that, some mental WIP’s I’m going to tackle next are:
Blood I Bled: Neve and Tel underestimate Aelia at a steep price
The Bright Child: Josephine and S’vari meet Aya, an odd little girl who eventually becomes their adopted daughter. (This is going to end up as an eventual full verse with @natsora, @crackedskel and @justskipit)
And a smattering of short drabbles and ficlets for various fan weeks, looking very much forward to Josephine week in March!
That might all be a little optimistic for 2026, but we shall see!
Many thanks to @woundedsoul12, @juniper-and-dragonthorn, and @ofcrowsanddragons for the tags!
The rules are basically to share the last line of what you’ve been working on and tag tha number of people. I’ll go with the last new line I drafted, rather than the last thing I worked on (because that was just editing):
“So a ritual takes, what? Items, space, and people, right?”
And since I just tagged a bunch of people for Five(ish) Sentence Friday, I’ll just give some incredibly gentle tags to: @nevesserialwriter, @natsora, @justskipit, @sandcastlekings, @hyperions-light, @mageofquandrix, @dymme, @bygonesigh, @becausedragonage, and @littlemissgeek8, and of course anyone else who wants to!
Thanks so much for the tag @juniper-and-dragonthorn! I…mostly followed the rules. >.> (It is six sentences, but if I round down…)
I’ll give out some gentle tags to: @hyperions-light, @ofcrowsanddragons, @bygonesigh, @dymme, @mageofquandrix, @mythals-whore, @davrinsleftpectoral, @nevesserialwriter, @serialsforbellara, @blackwall-my-tiny-husband, @jukkaricity, @woundedsoul12, @operative-arrow, @rooks-dagger, and anyone else who wants to join in! Tag me so I can shout about it!
From part of The Ventus Job I’ve been retooling:
Her eyes narrowed on him, and he saw the flicker of anger in her gaze. Neve didn’t get angry, truly angry, at him often, but he was clearly running headlong towards an explosion of her usually-controlled temper.
“Trouble…”
For all of Neve’s wonderful qualities, which were most of her qualities, her tendency to internalize her worries to the point she turned them into mental near-certainties was one he found the most difficult. To Neve, speaking her fears aloud made them real. And once they were real, they were inevitable.
Thanks so much, @woundedsoul12, both for the tag and the game! And thanks to @bronzieinthedas and @thedissonantverses for the tags as well!

Okay, resolving things below the cut! 😅
1) Write more consistently. I fell out of the habit of forcing myself to write as life got busier in the second part of the year, and it’s helpful for me to keep that habit if I want to keep stuff moving. Starting is always harder than continuing.
2) Complete the new challenge I set for myself with this year’s @datvcompanionweeks.
3) Read more. This is, honestly, probably going to be the hardest one for me. Because even though I do read just about anything someone asks me to or tags me in (or part of it, if it’s multi-chapter), I’m just…fairly busy. I’m not sure where I’ll fit this in if I also intend to keep all my other stuff and live my real life. So this is…aspirational, really, more than a promise. But it’s good to have goals even if you don’t end up achieving them. And hey, maybe my commenting for Fanart Frenzy will create a habit.
4) Finish at least one of my longfics (TVJ, ATC/TMAU). I’ve never completed a longfic. Genuinely, I haven’t. I usually stick to one-shots for a reason. But I am determined.
5) Keep up participation/try a new thing. I think I do a fair bit of stuff? But I want to challenge myself this year to try and add one new thing.
6) Learn how to make gifs. I’ve only made one. It’s not good. But all things get better with practice, right?
It has been an awesome 2025 here in this corner of fandom. I am so grateful to be hanging here with so may wonderful people. So here’s to 2026! 🥂
No pressure tagging @tarasmom @sorcerousadventurer @serialsforbellara @kogarashi-art @nevesserialwriter and anyone who might want to play

When Athos originally joined the Rebellion, he figured his work would consist of regular missions with the Pathfinders.
Certainly his first year had been spent running ground and infiltration missions with the Pathfinders, but a year in, he'd been pulled by command to work with Davrin and his astromech A5-AN on extraction missions. Their first year together was spent pulling soldiers and intelligence out.
Then came the mayday request from a Jedi. After Order 66 the few surviving Jedi had gone into hiding. Athos had been surprised when they'd been given an extraction order for not just a Jedi, but two Force sensitive kids.
They'd remained on a Rebel base for the first few months until the first evacuation, then he and Davrin had been ordered to help Neve keep Rish and Adana hidden. His life since then had been Davrin, A5-AN, the Jedi Neve Gallus, and the girls.
He stood now on the porch of the tree house they'd built on Dalos IV. Since the Empire largely ignored the planet and none of the inhabitants, both native or refugee, seemed inclined to change that, it had seemed the best place to hide Adana, an Elvhan girl, and Rish, a Mirialan girl.
The girls sat cross-legged at one end of the porch, meditating as Neve had taught them.
Life Day was coming up, and he knew Adana and Rish wanted their other "parents" home for it. Davrin and Neve had been called in by Mon Mothma for some important mission, leaving the girls in Athos's care. It wasn't the first time, as the need for a good pilot and Jedi duo came up from time to time. Somehow Athos had ended up as the default parent to remain at home with the girls.
He'd never expected to be a parent, but Rish and Adana had never known theirs, taken as infants by the Inquisitors, and they'd evidently first imprinted on Neve, their Jedi rescuer, then Davrin and Athos.
"We can feel you watching, Papa," Rish informed him without opening her eyes.
The big Zabrak snorted at his Mirialan daughter. "I'd be more worried if you couldn't sense me watching you."
Adana sighed, her eyes fluttering open. "Papa, do you think Mom and Dad will be back in time for Life Day?" She asked for probably the 100th time that week.
"I don't know, little bit," he told his youngest daughter. "But if they aren't then we will celebrate when they get home."
"It'll be fun either way," Rish promised her little sister.
Adana didn't look entirely convinced. They all knew that when you fought in the Rebellion, there was a possibility you might not make it home.
"Why don't we go make Wookiee cookies?" Athos suggested, trying to distract the girls.
They'd made three batches of wookiee cookies by the time they were done. When the girls begged to stay up past their bedtime for Athos to read them stories, he couldn't deny them. When the girls fell asleep on either side of him on the couch, he let himself slouch into the couch.
They all missed Davrin, Neve, and A5-AN. He would love to see his partners for Life Day, and so would their girls. He could only hope they made it home safe and sound.
****
Neve sighed as she and Davrin staggered up the zig-zagging ramp to the tree house with A5-AN close behind. Davrin pushed carefully unlocked the door to the house when they reached it and stepped inside.
They were greeted by the sight of their giant zabrak lover slouched on the couch in the main living area, with a little girl on either side of him, using him as a pillow.
"Assan, get a holo," Davrin said softly with a soft smile.
A5-AN chirped in response and took several. The noise woke Adana, who shrieked, "Mommy, Daddy!" And launched herself off the couch at them.
That woke Rish and Athos, with Rish quickly following her sister as Nevd and Davrin dropped down to hug their daughters.
Athos followed at a slower pace, drinking in the sight of his family.
"They're home Papa!" Adana informed him as she looked up from her other parents. "It's what we wanted for Life Day!"
Athos grinned broadly as he knelt down to join his family, the five of them pulled into a family hug by their daughters. "That it is, Adana," he agreed.
I was tagged for this by @nevesserialwriter Thank you! Also, Scotland is an excellent choice!
I'll tag @jukkaricity @in-the-drowning-deep and @mythals-whore
Get to know me under the cut!
First, I want to take a minute to say a very heartfelt thanks to the folks who have persistently tagged me in a variety of super-cool things during my recent, unexpected absence from online stuff. I see you, awesome people and appreciate every darn one of you!
Fun fact: I'm a twin. That's less fun than 'little-known' I suppose but it was the first thing that popped into my head so I'm going with it! I have an identical twin sister who is my polar opposite in almost every way. She's also my best friend.
Favorite color: Navy. Such a classic color. I'm a sucker for any shade of blue, really.
Last song (on loop): Urgency by Drew Redman from the 1000xResist Soundtrack. (see 'currently playing' below)
Last movie: Ballerina (from the world of John Wick). It was soooo good!
Currently watching/last series: Recently finished the most recent season of the animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft on Netflix. It was 'just okay'.
Currently reading: Masks Worn by Magical Wives by Hiyadori. And Veil of the Wild by @nevesserialwriter of course!
Currently playing: I recently finished 1000xResist and was blown away by it. The voice-acting is incredible. The soundtrack is perfection. It's won a thousand awards and received twice as many accolades. It's very gay, and the story... you guys...the story is the best utilization of a video game for immersive story telling I've ever experienced. It's truly, truly something special. Go play it. Watch the trailer (linked above) but otherwise--go in blind. It's quick...10-12 hours to complete. DO IT!
Sweet/salty/spicy: Any combination of sweet & spicy or salty & spicy. But not too spicy. I like to taste my food, not regret every life decision that led me to it.
Coffee or tea: I'd have to say coffee takes priority but hear me out... Thai tea. Or heck, just a simple cup of black tea with a splash of milk. So yum.
Relationship status: Blissfully wed to the most incredible person on the planet.
Current obsession: This fucker. Jorge, aka El Estepario Siberiano (The Siberian Steppe) Ooh! I'm going to tag @biowaredisasterbisexual here, for percussionist reasons. There's something immensely satisfying about watching a person so proficient at (and enthusiastic about!) their profession. This guy is magic on drums. Music often eludes me but percussion? Gimme, gimme.
Last Google search: "How fast does the solar system travel relative to the galactic center?" (Answer: ~220km/second.)
Immediately after: How fast is the Milky Way travelling through space?
[Answer: about 1.3 million mph (2.1 million kph)... generally in the direction of the sky inhabited by the constellations Leo and Virgo.]
Truly, my nerdery is limitless.
Currently working on: Requiem! A (sort-of) vampire/Veilguard AU. But man... very sparingly right now. All is well! But there have been unexpected real-life events afoot here and I've needed to focus most of my time and attention elsewhere since late October/the beginning of November. By mid-January I very eagerly anticipate a return to my regularly-scheduled program! Ugh... apologies for vague-posting.
Merry, merry Christmas! Happy, happy Chanukah! However you celebrate the holidays (or don't) I hope you find warmth and light. (Or frigid darkness if that's your jam!) Just be happy, peeps! <3
