i don't know if y'all are active right now but do any of you know who the new discourse about someone doxxing a minor anti is about? i know a bunch of antis are using it to try and "prove" that all shippers are bad, but literally every group has bad people. it's our job as a community to make sure whoever did this isn't part of ours anymore.

Honestly, anon. We have no idea. I personally did not see the post myself but who ever did it was in no way associated with me or any of the shippers that I know of.(I hope, cause I really have no idea) We're just as confused as you are.

Who ever that person was really did step out of line and they should know better than doxxing a minor on a fandom discourse rather than being civil.

That kids life could be at risk just by simple drop of their personal info on this site, I hope they'll be ok

hey so psa, there's a new tumblr-clone site called newtumbl that, unlike most of the other ones (pillowfort etc.) appears NOT to have been made by and for antis! there aren't any content restrictions beyond the legal ones, just tagging requirements. in terms of functionality it's very similar to tumblr. maybe a good place for the hermitshipping community to hang out? fair warning it's 90% pornblogs atm but it's also pretty easy to filter those out of your feed!

Oh? I'll give it a looksy, and if me and the other mods can deem it good, maybe we'll stary posting there too. Who knows! Thank you for sharing

I don't think it would be a good influence for the hermitshipping community to grow in a nsfw and/or such unrestricted environment.

Other than that, I think that 1. It's not yet necessary since the hermitship community here is finally more secure and establishes itself; 2. Smaller sites always give less exposure (which is already small enough); 3. It wouldn't resolve the problem of inacceptance in its root - disagreement between antis and shippers - and only try and cure the symptoms.

Hello, I'be always wanted to start a blog on Tumblr for hermitcraft stuff and to be able to comfortable interact with other hermitfans, but since I'm a secret shipper, I don't feel exactly comfortable with anything. Is it possible if anyone knows anywhere/any community like a discord chat I could join instead? Thanks in advance... -dot

Welcome to the community! You can still start a hermitblr just fine, since there are people who don't care if you are a shipper!

Although even if you keep it secret, it is not reccomended to interact with antis at all, including for your mental health sake as well.

You can also make a sideblog "hermitshipblr" and if you are careful enough, your main blog won't be discovered!

As for the safest variant, a Discord server, the existing ones are very strict on who to allow. We can only share the invites to trusted people.

Finally, the strongest community of hermitshippers is on Wattpad! There might be a few antis, but for the most part it's cool!

Recently we have seen some backlash to the term "closeted shipper.”

We agree it wasn't a good analogy. We apologize for the discomfort it caused.

In place of that, however, we'd still like to use a term. For now, we are considering "secret shipper.”

i get where you’re coming from with the trying to keep your shipping on the down low but i feel like it’s kind of weird to be be calling yourself ‘closeted shippers’ and interacting with stuff as normal? bc i’m someone who’s uncomfortable with seeing ship content/interacting with it and it kinda gives me bad vibes

Hi! I understand why it might be weird, but "closeted shippers" are usually so for safety, as being open about shipping can lead to harassment, banning from servers and ruining friendships.

Closeted shippers do not post any explicitly shipping content in public, so it technically shouldn't be a worry. If there is no clear indication the post is specifically shippy, it's most likely not.

It's completely okay to not want to interact with shippers even if they aren't open about it. It's important to remember that if you do ask/find out about a person whether or not they are a shipper, this information should be kept private.

Other than being shippers, many fans also focus on non-ship content and interacting with the rest of the fanbase is just as important for us as for others.

My side of view as a random person. Am usually down for anyone shipping anything in moderation but something about hermitshiping makes my skin crawl. Just makes me feel gross just thinking about it. :( I really need to hear more about why you think they are good together.

Well.

There are many reasons why people ship. It can be a coping method, a creative outlet, or even as practice in story writing and art. Shipping doesn’t appeal to everyone and that’s completely okay, we just want you to understand that shippers aren’t bad people. We all have reasons for shipping, just as you have reasons for not shipping. Remember, we don't ship the real people, only their mc skins.

A simple guide to hermitshipping in plain sight:

1. Use "interactions" instead of ships 

Ex: "Oh, I love Grian and Mumbo's interactions!" 

2. Use "platonically" often enough. 

Ex: "Aww, Doc must be sad because he cannot platonically gift Scar flowers because of his allergy.”

3. If you want to go for an extra mile, you can pretend to be an anti and add “don’t tag as ship”.

Note: It’s not very reccomended using “shippers dni” since that can cause some of us to feel unsafe. (It is still a very valid measure if you need to do so!)

Stay closeted if it’s safer for you, friends!

Important note: do NOT assume that if a person does any of these they are a shipper! This guide is MEANT to instruct on how to seem exactly like a non-shipper, therefore many non-hermitshippers/antis do so!

I know this isn't the blog to post this nor my battle but this needs to be said.

Canceling Antis isn't going to get us anywhere and attacking them will only reinforce their thoughts on us and make them more aggressive.

Using violence against violence will lead to more violence and hate. If antis don't want to change we can't worse them. but if we are gentle and polite with them they will most likely stop as well.

i'm happy you all have learned and chosen to take a more positive spin to your blog but please please don't make this same thing again. i know you all wanted to help but taking out blogs won't do anything good.

Same to the anons on their blog; Attacking shippers won't do anything good either. if you attack shippers they will think that you are all mean people. Raiding their servers, fanfics and askbox will only make shippers go against you and split this fandom apart.

but if the both sides just relaxed, put down all our shields and weapons and just talk we might get to an understanding.

treat each other like you want to be treated.
